Overall, this was an amazing place to stay.Everything listed was exactly as pictured if not better. The entire place was very clean and had everything you need for two large families. The views were spectacular, the hiking and trails to go see waterfalls. Were right out the front door. James responded to everything in a timely manner and made it so convenient for our vacation. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 5/5We had a wonderful time at what our kids affectionately named “the mountain house.” If you're seeking a peaceful retreat, this is the perfect spot. It’s a scenic 15-minute drive up the mountain, past charming horse farms, ensuring a truly secluded experience. The house was warm and inviting, ideal for our family. Our boys absolutely adored the deck and the delightful little horse rocker. The selection of books, games, and art supplies was a lovely touch. We cooked dinner every night and found everything we needed. The place was clean and well-maintained. We can’t wait to return!

We visited the Creek-side Mountain Home with Private Trail to Panthertown Valley during the second week of October, timing our stay with a fall foliage map to catch the peak colors. The drive up started with minimal color, but about 30 minutes from the house, as we began to climb in elevation, the leaves transformed into brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. The roads were twisty and exciting, with magic around every corner. We even passed two barns with horses deep into the neighborhood and spotted deer along the way—it felt like entering another world. Our two families (with kids ages 10, 9, 7, and 5) fit perfectly in the home. One family used the double bedrooms, while the other took the master and bunk rooms. The layout was ideal for shared meals, games, and cozy evenings by the creek. We took full advantage of the nearby Sapphire Resort—playing golf and foot golf, panning for gold, enjoying the playground and mini golf, and picnicking in the cool mountain air. The next day, we hiked the private trail straight from the house to see Frolictown and Granny Falls, then headed to Fairfield Lake for paddling and fishing. We also discovered Camp Merrie Woode and its hidden waterfall—an unexpected highlight! The property itself is something special. It’s surrounded by a lush rhododendron forest, and the mosses and lichens create an almost fairy-tale feel. We can only imagine how stunning it must be when the rhododendrons are in full bloom—we’d love to come back for that.

We really enjoyed this home and the surrounding area of Sapphire Valley/ Cashiers. It was our first time to this area of NC. The home was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. A better TV and Netflix in primary BR would be nice, but no big deal. The owners were very nice and responsive. The drive to the home is a bit intimidating at first (GPS and daylight helps!) but after we did it a few times, we got used to the route. Ingles grocery store is a 15 minute drive and we picked up groceries there a few times. We enjoyed Slab Town Pizza and custard shop a few doors down. Slab Town had outdoor seating which would be really nice if a bit warmer. Cabin is nested in a valley in a beautiful community, but it still felt private. We enjoyed the fire pit. We didn’t get to tube at Sapphire Valley community center as we hoped because they don’t pre book and sell out fast each day during the holidays. We hiked a surrounding trails, walked around some shops in town, and around Fountain Lake. We just enjoyed nature and the peace and quiet. It was nice to be able to walk right down to a trail. It was pretty cold and trail was bit wet (after a few days of rain) but we still enjoyed ourselves. Hiking boots or water resistant shoes recommended.Overall, a great place. Highly recommend!

Adorable, cabin nestled in the woods with Running-brook. There’s a State walking trail a quarter mile from the home that takes you to several waterfalls. We met someone on the trail who just seen a black bear at the first waterfall. We missed it by five minutes. Highly recommend this rental property.

This home is so charming! We hiked directly from our yard through beautiful trails, rarely seeing others until we joined the more popular Panthertown trails. Played golf at the community course. Cooked on the grill and had several relaxing fireplace/firepit evenings. Great internet speed. This home is very private, quiet, with no neighbors in sight... and in a gated community. Owners were very helpful when called upon. We will return!

My family has been traveling to the mountains for the past 15 years and this is the first place to exceed our expectations. It is obvious that the Hyland’s care deeply for their property. The outside is spotless and has lots of great places to discover, the inside is very comfy, clean and well maintained. We would highly recommend staying here and we hope to return each year.

Such a beautiful cabin and property and we enjoyed fires in the fireplace and steaks on the grill and the sounds of the water flowing through the creek. This place is great!! Very secluded and peaceful.
