We spent a long weekend here with friends . The house was much nicer than expected from the pictures on VRBO. It was very clean, nicely decorated and spacious enough for a large group. We enjoyed the gorgeous views from the fire pit area. There are lots of nice waterfalls and trails in the area, about 20 min away from the house ( Toms Creek Falls, Crabtree Falls). Asheville is not too far away either, about 50 min. As for restaurants in the area, there are some nice ones in Marion ( 30 min away). Overall we enjoyed staying here. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and relax.
The mountain view from the firepit is lovely. Communication from Amy was terrific. Lots of nice coffee products and appliances. Beds were super comfy. The double range and cooktop were top of the line. One of the double fridges had broken the week before but Amy had provided a huge cooler to supplement the single fridge as it was the holidays and we are a big foodie family. House is very spacious, plenty of living space and dining area. There were a few bundles of wood for firepit which was appreciated. The house is very much a work in progress - two porches were under construction, no hooks or places to hang jackets or extra towels. There were no dressers or drawers in bedrooms just a few hangers in each closet and an IKEA type of bench storage. Living room furniture is very much IKEA but functional. I have my own high end rental property and have also rented all over the world and I believe the owners need to up the game in quality and full provision for that price. Nice local toiletries, thoughtful amenities, books and brochures in the house with local hikes and restaurants to consider are the types of touches you expect at that price. It's a beautiful area to explore and should be easily accessible to a renter. Rated the house 3 stars for the price. If it was $1000 less, I would give it 4 stars.
Large newer home, clean and Amy, the host, is great to communicate with and she's always wants to make sure you're happy with the stay. We're 3 couples and all agree that the overall rating should be around 3 to 3.5 stars. However, I rounded up to 4 stars because Amy the host is very nice and I think they will get things corrected. Here are the details (Pros & Cons) based on our situation: Pros: Nice views, roughly at 2,000 ft elevation. You're in between the hills, not really on top of a hill/mountain Clean, new house, and the kitchen is fully stocked Large and comfortable bedrooms as described Amy, the host, is very pleasant and attentive to our needs If you're looking to be secluded and 10 miles (30 minutes) away from anything, this is the home for you. Walkie-Talkies as the property were life savers and a welcome benefit (Thank you), since there's next to no communication method at all. Cons: No Internet Service!!! While yes, there's a modem and WiFi, it is absolutely unusable except to get a text through via WiFi every now and then. We also got a few emails in and some basic web search with waiting about a minute for each page to load. It is absurd how slow the Internet is, I would not advertise that internet is available at this property No TV service either!!! There's one TV in the living room and it does not have cable or satellite service, it is a Samsung Smart TV and it has the Samsung TV channels, however, the internet was buffering every 30 seconds, which made it unusable. The kids and adults were frustrated after dark with nothing to do. They have a DVD player and some old DVDs, but most of them are scratched, so we couldn't watch anything for 4 days. Outdoor covered deck, it was a nice surprise to see the owners are adding an outdoor covered patio/deck; we didn't expect that, but there's no direct access from the house, so if it is raining, you have to get wet before you get to the outdoor deck. Nonetheless, it's nice to have The home is 9.9 miles away from the closest grocery store, or any shopping. The road is beautiful and twisty, but that means, if you need anything, it will take 30 minutes each way to pick up, so buy everything ahead of your arrival. The lock at the gate is hard to align the digits to unlock it The keys for the front door are difficult to operate the deadbolt, keys kept getting stuck in the deadbolt lock. Overall, nice stay; but priced well above the level of amenities provided!!! Thank you

We learned our lesson. So many inconveniences with this house. This was our vacation and everyday there was something.
The house was comfortable and very clean. Great location for numerous day trips and hikes. We returned to the house each day, tired from our excursions, and enjoyed the fire pit, views, and peace and quiet of this house. The guest host was thoughtful and helpful with recommendations in the area. Just two important notes: (1) This house is literally on the side of a mountain, which makes for great views. But there is no flat space or yard for young kids to run around in, if you are looking to spend a lot of time at the property and that is important to you. (2) No cell service, which was expected, but the wireless connection was spotty at best. Ok in the morning and very little connectivity at night. This is likely not a limitation of the property itself but the area in general. Overall, a great place to disconnect and clear your head.
My family and I had a great time. This property is surrounded by mountains, beautiful! The house includes all the conveniences in the kitchen, blankets in the great room etc. The property manager was very kind and helpful. She kept in touch with us to make sure we were well and in case we needed anything. She sent us information about places to go and things to do in the area as well as recommendations on restaurants places to shop. I highly recommend this property. We will definitely rent again!
The house was very nice and Amy who helped with our stay was amazing. She reached out multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. The view was great out of the front door. The beds were comfortable. We had no cell service but it wasn’t bad to unplug. They did have a house phone. The only down side was the water didn’t get really hot in the showers. Ultimately we would stay here again.
