Raphine, Virginia
The Rose Cottage is a comfortable home, centrally located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, just north of the Village of Fairfield. It is conveniently situated very near Interstate 81, Interstate 64, and US Route 11 (an interesting easy-to-drive highway that stretches from New Orleans all the way to the Canadian border, linking a multitude of cities and small towns along the way).
You must provide confirmation for all guests of full Covid vaccinations. We have a number of family members who are especially vulnerable.
The property, secluded but not isolated, boasts magnificent views of the night sky, (see deep sky photos taken by our wonderful guest, Dave Morgan, from the Cottage), walking trails winding through our twenty acres of woodlands, bird and wildlife viewing, and a relaxing rural lifestyle experience.
A well appointed kitchen with dining area (should you take a notion to have a quiet meal at home or entertain a few friends), flows into a roomy living area with plenty of room for reading, watching a movie or listening to music. The living room opens directly onto a large outdoor deck, with a charcoal grill and seating for outdoor dining. The deck provides expansive views of pastureland, woods, and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains - a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and newspaper or to unwind at the end of the day with a picnic supper or nightcap.
The home has central air conditioning and heat.
The living room contains a television and a well-stocked selection of DVDs for your enjoyment. The Cottage offers hi-speed fiber optic internet and a generous television program. There is also an eclectic reading library for quiet evenings.
The main floor consists of three bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a private bath and dressing area. Two roomy bedrooms at the other end of the home share a full bath. One of those bedrooms is equipped with a full size bed. The other has two twin beds.
Nice property . 15 minutes in the country
My family and I had a great stay here. The house was very nice and well-stocked, the yard and view were great, and we especially loved that we were able to bring our 2 dogs. It was a total of 5 adults, and there was plenty of room.
Wonderful hosts, lovely place, so peaceful and loved the walking trail behind the property. We saw all kinds of wild lives and so appreciative for the opportunities to experience them
Anita and Jay were so welcoming and flexible regarding our arrival and departure, which we so appreciated. The cottage had everything we needed -- and then some -- with juices, yogurt, and fresh eggs in the fridge. Even though the weather wasn't great, the view from the cottage sure was! Thank you, Anita and Jay!
The Rose Cottage was very clean, comfortable, and a very beautiful view of the farm fields and the Blue Ridge mountains.
This beautiful property is located at a very pleasant place with a refreshing scenic view. What makes it stand out even more is the amazing hosts. The hosts are very welcoming and caring. Listing down few of the points which we loved about the property: - Location The cottage is located at the top of a hill which gives you the most amazing and refreshing view of the woods in the back. Do not miss the sunrise. - Property facilities The cottage is arranged very thoughtfully where you will find almost everything you need. - Nearby Trails and visiting places There are some really nice and quite places to hang out like Goshen Pass. - Hosts are always reachable and guide you whenever asked for.
Well kept and immaculate home with all the creature comforts you need. Close enough to town with all of the secluded beauty of the area. Could easily stay (and would hope to) longer as a home away from home. Hosts are delightful.
The Blue Ridge to the east and the Appalachians to the west with peace and quiet in between are the setting for Rose Cottage. We had a relaxing stay here. Just sitting on the deck we saw a great variety of birds at the feeders along with deer, rabbits and a groundhog. The hosts are gracious and accomodating. Jay took us on a tour of the county. We also drove the Blue Ridge Parkway from its northern end to the Buena Vista exit. Beautiful scenery in the summer, but probably spectactular in autumn. The description of the property is accurate. Be aware that you will have to drive a few miles for shopping or restaurants.
Rose Cottage was a great, relaxing getaway for the 4th of July weekend. Very clean, easy communication with the hosts, and tons of space for our dog to run and roam around. Amazing views and wildlife are a plus!
Had a wonderful stay. Great place, quiet, and a lot of open land. Only negative was we believe the listing indicted it came with a gas grill. It had a small Weber charcoal grill but no gas grill.
Frequent VRBO patron and Rose Cottage tops them all. Check-in/out....flawless. Spotless cottage with great views and hiking. Enjoyed breakfast/dinner in with a very well equipped kitchen, as well as local restaurants. In town for college graduation in Lexington and the location is perfect....feel like you are very remote, but town is just minutes away. Thanks to the hosts...we'll be back!
