Spacious 5 Bedroom House On Double Lot In Lakeside One Block From The Lake!

The house was the perfect size for our family! The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, plates & etc, the location was perfect for my elderly father to be able to walk to the lake & read and it suited my grandson well as it's only a block away from Perry Park. My only real complaint would be that we struggled to find comfy furniture to sit on as we gathered as a group to visit & watch a slideshow of family photos - the room in the back was a good size but only had a sofa & rocking chair for furnishings (aside from the dining table & chairs which is where some of us ended up sitting).

The house was perfect. Everyone loved it and most importantly everybody was comfortable and enjoyed our time together. Thank you, Pete you are a great owner. I hope you let us come back again.

Just Perfect. Our family had such a lovely time. Close to the playground for the little ones. And close to the lake to catch the breeze. The kitchen had everything we needed. Pete was amazingly responsive. We highly recommend The Big Red House!

We stayed here for memorial day weekend, BEWARE if you stay here during that week, you will have to pay 70() PER CAR and 40() PER PERSON. It cost us over 400 just in parking alone for 2 nights. The house itself was a cute lake house, it definitely needs updating and some love and care done to it. The shower backed up while my husband was showering, we told the owners and they sent someone out right away! The owners were great! The gated community was something i was not expecting at all. The front gate people were all brand new and it just gave very much cult vibes. We enjoyed our time and it fit our family of 12 here nicely, my 5 year old had lots of toy options which was so helpful! The trip was very stressful after being hassled by the front gate people for parking. They say we pay for amenities there, however the pool was completely drained-not useable, the putt putt you still had to pay for, the walking path was closed halfway through it due fo construction. These passes were 40 per person that we had to have if we wanted to stay here (what the front gate people said). We didnt budget the additional 400 () for 2 days of parking in addition to the price of the VRBO rental. We just couldnt enjoy our time like we had hoped due to this. All in all, the house is fine- its an old lake house, the community that the house was in- cult like. The owners- great and very responsive.

Our family always has a great time in Lakeside, and I’ve been going there long enough to know that you don’t always know what to expect when you rent a cottage. Because the cottages are not lived in many months out of the year, I understand it’s hard to keep them clean and it’s difficult to keep bugs out. However, we were disappointed with the state of the cottage when we arrived. The floors were dirty, dishes and pans still had crumbs on them, there was a used bar of soap in the shower, and there were many bugs and cobwebs. Updates were needed throughout the house - not to take away its charm, but to make it functional. For example, plugs would fall out of the outlets and wouldn’t stay in place, and there were no locks on the back doors, only a hook on one of them.We had one small issue and the owner was very responsive and helpful. The house is a typical charming Lakeside cottage in a wonderful location, it just needs a little love and a good scrub.

This is the second time that our extended family has stayed at this property! Both times have been a great experience. The house has everything you need, and the owners were quick to respond to a couple of small problems that we had during our stay! Thank you for sharing your house with us!

We were so happy to see this beautiful Lakeside home as we pulled up. Parking for 2 vehicles and a golf cart right in front of the house. I read another review that said something about no auto parking. That is simply not true. That review is confusing to me. That same review mentioned cats and allergies. My 2 adult sons and I all have bad allergies. None of us had a problem with that here, not even a little bit. The location concerned me at first because we have always stayed close to downtown. However at the end of this trip we found ourselves absolutely loving this location. The park and playground are within walking distance by the lake. We grilled out there one night with Labor Day fireworks after that we could easily see from our spot by the water. What was nice is we didn’t have to fight the crowd like we do when staying in downtown. There were seats available right on the lake. It was so relaxing. My daughter in law was very pleased at how accommodating it was for my small grandchildren. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make meals and drinks. The owner was quick to respond to any emails and accommodating us in every way to make our trip a success. That is so appreciated!! We had all decided at the end of our stay that we are definitely coming back to this beautiful home. It’s obvious how well loved this home is and we are so grateful that we could stay here. Thank you for allowing us to use this property. Location within Lakeside was great, but location on block was not so great. No auto parking, loading and unloading was direct from no parking street, up some stairs and thru front porch. Cleanliness, cats & clutter were the main disappointments. The cats caused plenty of watery eyes, sneezing & stuffiness for 3 of us. The house was well stocked with everything you will need (again, thanks). If we have the opportunity to stay again, our expectations will more closely match.

This house is so well stocked for families with young children! We didn’t even need to bring the toys (besides bikes, of course!) we did! Plenty of bedrooms, great living room/dining room, well-stocked kitchen, and a brand new fridge ? Owner responded quickly when initiated with. Neighbors are great! So close to the lake and not too far from downtown and the pool. Will absolutely rent again!
