Whidbey Island
One hour and 30 minutes north of downtown Seattle and on a large rugged island in the heart of Puget Sound, this place is a treasure. Whidbey Island has small farms, rolling hills, clifftop views, fresh water lakes, forest trails and coastal towns. On the island is the historic Fort Casey State Park, home to lighthouses, adventure trails and gun batteries originally built to thwart invasion from vessels by sea. Deception Pass State Park has a dramatic bridge that you can walk across while watching boats struggle through the tidal currents far below. South Whidbey State Park is the home of huge timbers, and one cedar tree over 500-year-old. Walk trails through exhibiting natures northwest grandeur a true tree lover’s paradise.
This was a perfect location and set up for our group, plenty of room to spread out with wonderful places to be together inside and out. Kitchen was well-stocked and great for cooking together. The sunset views are amazing!
Beautiful home right on the water! Kayaks and paddle boards available for use, and plenty of room for six adults and three kiddos.
Our 2nd stay here and we plan to come back again! Great house in the perfect location.
We enjoyed staying right on the water and watching bald eagles and other wildlife from the dining table.
We stayed with my in laws and our family of four including two little ones and this was hands down one of the best rentals I've ever stayed in. The layout is perfect and the house is beautifully appointed with a fully stocked kitchen. The hosts were super responsive and seemed to generally care about our comfort and happiness. Loved every minute!! Thank you to Dale and the other hosts for sharing your home with us!
The house is bigger and nicer than the pictures make it look, and the view is just beautiful from the house. Dale was very responsive and answered all of the questions we had and we had a great experience working with him. We had all of the kitchen stuff we needed for cooking. The location is convenient. We had a wonderful stay and I would absolutely recommend this place!
We just returned from a vacation at this Whidbey Island home. Dale, the owner, was very accommodating and helpful throughout the entire experience. He responded very quickly to any questions we had and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and well informed. This house was truly spectacular and the perfect setting for our family getaway! The living quarters are spacious, tastefully decorated and stocked with tons of dishes, pots and pans and other amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our time kayaking, digging clams and crabbing in Puget Sound only a few yards in front of the home. We were especially fond of the porch, with mornings spent sitting with coffee watching the eagles and seals as they basked in the sunshine and evenings spent taking in the breathtaking sunsets and enjoying conversation with family around the fire table. We even spotted a great horned owl listening in on our conversations! If you are looking for a wonderful vacation experience, I would highly recommend this home for anyone visiting Whidbey Island!
What a treat- everything from the owner communication to the stocking of the kitchen and amenities. We enjoyed kayaking, the perfect sunny weather, swimming, crabbing, fishing, biking, sunbathing, sitting by the fire and even the perfect espresso coffee! We will definitely be back! THANK YOU!!
Of all the VRBO experiences my family has had...and there’s a lot...this has been the absolute BEST! The house is in a quaint beach town with a park right across the street and the ocean just outside the backdoor! Dale was so courteous, he checked in with us as soon as we booked our stay and throughout our trip to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank you all so much, we had an incredible time and will definitely be staying again!!!
We feel so lucky to have found this wonderful rental in the Sandy Hook Community. The house itself is absolutely perfect: wide open living/dining kitchen space, fully stocked with anything you could dream of needing, with incredible sweeping views of a fantastic sandy beach and the ocean. There is one large master bedroom on the main floor looking out onto the beach, another nice dark/cooler bedroom toward the back of the house (perfect spot to tuck kids away), as well as two queen beds up in the sunnier loft with another excellent view. Many of the windows open, allowing for great cross-breeze and ventilation on those warmer and sunny PNW days. The house has clearly been recently updated with great care - it is beautifully and modernized while maintaining a warm and cozy feel; all furniture seems new, beds and linens are very comfortable. The deck opens directly on to a sandy, WONDERFUL beach, and outstanding setup particularly for families with small kids. there is mature, beautifully kept landscaping all around the front and back of the house, allowing very unique privacy in this beach community. The owners are kind enough to allow use of their two kayaks, perfect for exploring the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING tidal flats that lie right outside this idyllic home. The owners are generous, flexible, and highly responsive, both by email and text. I cannot say enough about this place; stay as long as you can.
