Amina is a compact, well-kept apartment for two on the first floor of a historic palazzo on Via del Battistero — one of the most genuinely Lucchese streets in the walled city. The street is named after an ancient baptistery, traditionally lined with antique dealersand independent craftsmen. It sits in the quiet heart of the antique quarter, between the Cathedral of San Martino and Piazza Napoleone. Not a tourist street. A real one.

The windows look onto it directly. During the day the light comes through easily. In the morning you hear the bells of the Cathedral, not the noise of a bar or a tour group. That particular combination — central, historic, quiet — is rarer in Lucca than you'd think.

The Space

Amina is designed for two. A comfortable double bedroom. A living area. A fully equipped kitchen — coffee machine, hob, microwave, fridge, all the basics — because a stay this central deserves the option of breakfast at home before heading out. A bathroom with shower, bidet and everything you need. Air conditioning throughout. Fast WiFi.

The original graniglia floors run through the whole apartment — a traditional Lucchese material that gives the space an understated, genuine character. The furnishing is considered and practical. Nothing missing. Nothing that gets in the way.

The Location

Via del Battistero puts you inside the historic centre of Lucca without compromise. The Cathedral of San Martino is three minutes' walk. Piazza San Michele in Foro — built over the original Roman forum — is two minutes. Piazza Napoleone is around the corner. Via Fillungo, Lucca's elegant pedestrian shopping street, is equally close.

Piazza Anfiteatro, the extraordinary elliptical square built on the foundations of a Roman amphitheatre, is five minutes away. The famous tree-topped city walls — wide enough to cycle on, quiet enough to walk at any hour — are a short stroll in any direction.

The neighbourhood itself is residential and calm. The kind of street where people live, work, and open their shutters in the morning. Guests who stay on Via del Battistero tend to come back — not because of any single thing, but because of how the whole thing feels.

Getting Around

Lucca's historic centre is fully pedestrian within the walls. Once you arrive, you don't need a car. The train station is about 15 minutes on foot, with direct trains to Pisa (30 min), Florence (1h 20min) and the Versilia coast. Parking outside the walls is available at the tourist car parks; ZTL restrictions apply inside the historic centre.

From Amina: Pisa and its Piazza dei Miracoli in 30 minutes. The Garfagnana valley — wild, barely touristed, magnificent — starts just north of the city. The Versilia Riviera is under 40 minutes by car.
