Gualala, California
Enjoy stunning ocean views from every room of this Scandinavian-style Gualala beach house, nestled between the wild woods and the sea. Whale watch from your private, large hot tub, then walk a few steps to Cook's Beach for sun and surf, or to the beautiful St. Orres hotel restaurant and bar. Savor excellent dining in Gualala, Anchor Bay, and Point Arena, and wonderful hiking in Sea Ranch and Salt Point.
Silvestrina sits west of Highway 1, in Pacific breezes and salt air, with stunning ocean views from every room.
The Scandinavian-style beach house features two master bedrooms -- one upstairs and one downstairs, each with an en suite bathroom and shower -- plus an office set up for remote workers.
You'll have a full chef's kitchen with gas range, electric oven and dishwasher. We provide cookware, tableware, and small appliances including a blender and coffee maker (you can buy great coffee locally at Surf Market, Gualala Super or Whitecap Cafe). There's also a Weber gas grill outside that you are welcome to use. Keep in mind you may have to fill the propane tank first.
Off the kitchen is a patio with the gas grill, a loveseat and a large, private ocean-view hot tub. In front of the house is a flagstone patio with a handcrafted redwood dining table for sunset dining with a view of the Pacific.
The living room keeps you cozy with a gas fireplace/heater and smart TV, along with a sunroom. Every room in the house has an ocean view.
In order to make sure everything is just right for your stay, we require booking at least a week ahead of arrival. So if the dates you want are available, it's best to go ahead and reserve them as soon as you can. During your visit, we (your hosts) will be available by message. No in-person contact is required or expected. There is one other building on the property, with its own private yard, that is typically occupied. You will probably not interact with the occupants.
The beach is an easy walk, as is the Saint Orres Hotel bar and restaurant. There are also a few pleasant strolling routes through the adjacent neighborhoods. Also nearby are many superb dining destinations featuring local ingredients and first-rate chefs. You'll be a 3-minute drive to Gualala (Trinks Cafe, Gualala Seafood Shack, Upper Crust Pizza) or Anchor Bay (Anchor Bay Thai Kitchen), and about 15 minutes to Point Arena (Pier Place, Izakaya Gama, Pelican Bakery, Franny's Cup and Saucer). The charming town of Elk, a bit further up the highway, hosts the Michelin-starred Harbor House Inn. Andersen Valley wine country is about an hour away.
A car is required to get to the village of Gualala, or to Anchor Bay, Sea Ranch, Point Arena or Salt Point. Parking is plentiful in all these areas (in Sea Ranch, visitor parking is restricted to certain lots and hours). Rideshares and taxis are not typically available. The beach house has two dedicated parking spaces, on the property.
The Mendocino coast here is wild and rural. The property is often visited by wildlife including deer, foxes, large birds and more. Utilities including broadband internet, PG&E electricity and cell phone service are provided at the beach house but they are prone to disruption. Be prepared to enjoy the unexpected!
Not able to enjoy all that was offered so we will have to come back again!
Great spot for a weekend getaway. Short walk to Cooks Beach and a short drive to Gualala. Offset from the 1, so not much traffic to disrupt the view.
House was great! Walking distance to beach with views of the ocean from every room. Short drive from Gualala center and 15 minutes from Point Arena which is a cool town to check out. House was really comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay here again
