Dade City, Florida
Herons Riverhouse at Coochee Hammock is a well-appointed two-story home perched among giant oaks and cypress on 40-acres along the Withlacoochee River. This comfortable retreat is perfect for exploring, kayaking, fishing, birdwatching, stargazing, or just snuggling up to the fire.
The property includes its own private 'island' among the cypress knees and sandy shore of an incredibly scenic vista. A small bridge accesses the island for an exclusive birding, fishing, or picnic experience.
Relax in the hammock swing or ride the forest trails. Nearby Withlacoochee State Trail and State Forest offer full days of cycling or hiking opportunities on pavement or dirt. Canoe, kayak, and bicycles on premises.
Fully equipped kitchen presents the freedom to enjoy a gourmet meal with a sunset view over the River.
Nearby Dade City offers all conveniences with old Florida charm. Visit the antique shops, 50s-era luncheonette, farm to table restaurants, or even the throwback drive-in movie theater.
Two bedrooms (one king and one queen) and two full baths provide plenty of storage and comfort. Two additional airbeds provide comfort for a family of 6.
This nature getaway is located off Highway 50 about an hour from Orlando or Tampa. The front gate is less than a mile off the pavement. Low clearance vehicles are not recommended. A small SUV will do fine. There is covered parking for two vehicles with a short walk and one flight of stairs up to the residence.
Wonderful location. Very peaceful
One hour from home we used this park like setting for a neighborhood picnic. Good time! Nothing we can do about flies and spiders outside
This is our 3rd or 4th visit to the tree house. Every member of my family is excited to come here and spend time with nature, unplugged and exploring the woods. We can't say enough good things about this place and the hosts are beyond accommodating. We will be back! :)
Everything in the house is well appointed. The furnishings and amenities are well thought out. No internet but cellular service for hotspot worked well. The atmosphere is relaxing inside and out. Very much enoyed our time here.
We just returned from our 3rd visit to this property. My kids are going to have such great memories of this blue river house. It is so special and peaceful. The home has absolutely everything you need, just bring some groceries! Already looking forward to another visit next year!
House overall was in excellent condition. My wife is very picky and she immediately commented on how clean and well taken care of the house was. House was very spacious & comfortable. We loved the feel of being in a secluded & remote nature area yet close enough to nearby towns. Our pet Lab loved running & exploring in the large fenced yard area. We wish we could have stayed longer. We visited nearby Giraffe Ranch and highly recommend it. Would definitely stay again.
Way better than the pictures. Peaceful, relaxing and right by the river. This is a hidden gem for anyone that enjoys nature and time away from city life.
About 1.5 hour drive from the hustle & bustle of Clearwater. Hubby and I found a much needed retreat to nature. Scott's place was so much more then we expected. Serenity:) not trying to sound like a hermit, but loved not seeing or hearing a neighbor the whole time we were there! Picked up food to cook from Del Carmen store & restaurant, fresh & local. Went to Webster flea market next day (biggest in FL, only open on Mondays) Zephyrgills had lions mane mushrooms (culinary) I have always wanted to try them. Also picked up yard long green beans. Had to top that off w some local gator to cook up yummies in the beautiful kitchen. Yes, all was delicious :) Scott's place is beautiful inside and out. Didn't turn tv on once. Sounds of nature were soothing to the soul. Loved it!! Thank you! :)
We enjoyed the peace and quiet. We saw turkeys, hawks, and many other birds.
Quiet, remote and beautiful! The Live Oaks, the Cyprus trees and their knees, along with the slowly meandering river create a rich, natural portrait. The birds, led by the hawks, provide the chorus. A fenced yard was great for our dog. Including a firepit where we burned wood collected on the site. There's a canoe and kayak for exploring the river. The house is well appointed and comfortable. The owner was very helpful and timely when we had questions. If you're looking for something different than the typical Florida vacation try this. Patty and Ron
