The view and deck overlooking the harbor were wonderful. Exactly what I was looking for!!Amenities were not up to par. WiFi didn’t work, which made televisions nonfunctional. Kitchen supplies were bare. Bedside tables and light fixtures were dusty.Maintenance issues were troubling. Back door did not lock. Toilet ran nonstop. To be fair, the man at the office did offer to send maintenance, but I felt these issues should have been dealt with BEFORE I arrived. At this price, standards should be high.

The location and setting are wonderful! Very quiet, lots of paths to walk on, great views of river and marina, restaurant and entertainment on site. The house is comfortable and cute. Lots of towels, great bed, great shade porch out back. We would stay here again. The reason for the 4 stars:- kitchen dishes are very limited and are chipped- kitchen had no glasses (like to drink soda or water). We requested glasses but they said they could not provide any because it was the responsibility of the owner.- kitchen had 4 cups, some chipped-- kitchen frying pans were filthy, full of grease. So was the drawer under the oven where the pans were stored, was full of grease and old food. - tea maker was on the amenities list, but not in the house. - amenities stated full laundry, but there was no iron or ironing board. I left a message at 8:49 am on the Friday requesting an iron. No one had called back by 4pm. When I called they said they would have someone bring an iron from another house. We waited Friday and all day Saturday and no one came nor called us. - shower was a bit dirty, soap scum and some black mold at the bottom.

POSITIVES -- Cute Cottage -- Nice Decor -- Very Clean -- Lovely Bathroom/Shower -- Soap, Lotion, Shampoo, Conditioner -- Well Stocked Kitchen. Dishes, Pots and Pans etc -- Parking right in front of Cottage -- Very Quiet Neighborhood -- Dog Friendly -- Easy to find and close drive to town -- Porch on the back of the house was cute NEGATIVES -- Frustrating Door Lock/Unlock system - Found that if you pull the door toward you when locking, it seemed to lock more easily. As far as unlocking, I have no clue. We would put the proper code in each time, sometimes it would unlock, sometimes not. -- Very uncomfortable bed. The mattress was concave. My husband and I would end up sliding into the hole in the center of the bed. We referred to it as The Abyss. -- Our nephew slept on the pull-out sofa bed. He also noted that it was not very comfortable. Not sure what the problem was there, but he ended up just sleeping on the sofa instead of the pull-out sofa bed. -- Lots of construction going on. The area doesn't look as pretty as it does in the photos since there are piles of dirt and half built houses seemingly everywhere. This area is cute, but I think very soon it is going to have a little house or big house choking out anything resembling nature. Maybe I am not a fan of crowded subdivisions, I don't know. So, take that comment with a grain of salt. It is a nice place, cute. We visited for 4 nights in November. The weather was great and we did a LOT of hiking at nearby Starved Rock State Park. My husband would walk our dog in the subdivision in the morning and in the evening. We really just needed a place to sleep and a place that was welcoming to our dog. This place was fine for those things. I think the sleeping problems could be easily fixed by investing in a decent mattress, and maybe a mattress for the pull-out bed.

We love it at Heritage Harbor and will be back. They were great! I had a few small issues and they were all taken care of by the time we returned for the day. Boat rental staff were also great. Love the duck idea!

Heritage Harbor is a new and beautiful addition to Ottawa. Our small cottage was very efficient and lovely. We had a view of the Harbor, and a balcony with a view of the Harbor. It is a delightful place to rent a cottage for any amount of time. There are beautiful new homes being built along the Harbor - looks like a wonderful place to build a permanent home, or a vacation home. The Illinois River is beautiful - almost every home or cottage is facing the river or the harbor. Heritage Harbor is close to Starved Rock State Park - a close attraction. Check-in was easy and efficient. As mentioned before, we had some locking issues. Rich, from the Customer Service team, was very quick, and very helpful to us. He came right over to the cottage, to be sure that we were able to lock the cabin, when we were leaving. We appreciate his help.
