Absolutely wonderful stay. The location is unbeatable, just far enough outside of Durango to feel very secluded but still only a 10-15 minute drive to town. The kitchen was fully stocked and allowed us to cook our entire Thanksgiving family meal with ease! Check-in was seamless and we were communicated everything we needed to know ahead of time. Very quiet and peaceful. The river going right under the driveway was awesome. Can't wait to go back!

For us, this property could not have been any better. This location is irreplaceable with gorgeous views seen from every room. The kitchen/dining area opens to the living room all with extensive windows and extraordinary views.My husband fished morning and dusk, catching (releasing) many trout. Morning devotions were magical at the dining table. The Bear cabin has a comfortable kitchen set up, and the cabin has plenty of books and games to enjoy. From bed, to shower, to lay out, to comfort, this property won us over. Have I mentioned the visiting turkeys that passed through the yard? Sweetest stay...can't wait to come back. The hosts were kind, generous with information and quick to respond. 20 mins from downtown Durango.

This is our third year staying here and absolutely love this place. Such a peaceful and serene property. The yard has plenty of space for our kids to play and ride bikes. We will be back again next year!

We stayed for 3 weeks with 3 kiddos. This was one of our favorite vacations ever. We felt like we could relax and not stress about the kids making noise. The house has everything you need. We saw tons of wildlife and enjoyed fishing in the river. We caught some little trout fly fishing. We stayed July-Aug and slept with the windows open. It was cool and you can hear the river at night. It’s a beautiful place and we hope we can return one day. The owners were so kind and helpful. They respond quickly. This is a special place and our family will not forget it.

Close to everything but also its own little secluded spot!

The house is warm and welcoming and comfortable. The property is idyllic and rejuvenating. The owners make the entire process easy! Emails/texts are responded to promptly! This is the 5th summer that we have stayed at the Bear House and look forward to many more summers of being there!

This was our second time staying here. We love the peace and quiet being just outside of town. The place is surrounded by trees and has a stream running through the front portion of the property. There is plenty of room for our kids to run around in the front yard and ride bikes on the driveway. Inside has everything we needed and a comfortable bed to sleep on. We definitely will be back in the future!

Beautiful setting. Architecturally unique design. Well equipped house that can sleep 5-6 and plenty of family space to keep them happy. Windows down in the summer with river rushing and waterfall sounds made summer nights in fifties exceptionally great sleeping. A beautifully landscape with a river running through was incredible. It was within an hour of many other great places!

My husband, myself, & my two college age children stayed for a week. This house was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed the trout stream and the close location to Durango. The hosts provided all the essentials as well as helpful notes. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at The Bear House and can’t wait to return. This home is like Heaven on Earth and is absolutely beautiful grounds. We loved putting the windows up and listening to the river out front, playing croquet and Farkle on the lawn. We are so thankful to have found this place. Everything is just as described and it was perfect for our Colorado getaway to cooler temps. Can not say enough good things. Loved this place!!!

We had a wonderful stay at this home. It had plenty of space inside and the property is gorgeous. We played games outside by the river and just enjoyed the breathtaking views all around us. It was an easy 15-minute drive into Durango for grocery shopping and restaurants.

We rented both houses for our family of 9. It was a wonderful place to make a lifetime of memories. The houses are beautifully stocked for downtime when you’re not seeing the sites around the area. Games to play, peaceful scenery, and great fishing were the highlights. The owners are also exceptional at communicating with you and it’s very clear they want you to enjoy your stay. I highly recommend this property!
