We had a good time catching fish and hanging out i will be back again.
Lovely home on the Neuse River. Quiet spot on a dead end street on the river. Nice deck and dock. Lovely sunsets and sunrises from the deck. Well equipped kitchen. I cut my foot on a large piece of glass walking in the water on the east side of the dock. Might be good to send someone with a mask to look for glass in the spring. I am sure it is not the owners fault that there is glass in the water. It was expensive to take our two dogs for a week but the fenced in yard was great. We would definitely return!!
We love using vacation rentals when we travel. We have also owned vacation rental property and took our responsibility as owners seriously to appropriately appoint, market, and manage the property. We feel this was not the case with this property. First and foremost, the photos in the listing make it look, as though there is a large parking area on one side of the house, in addition to parking under the house, which is common with piling houses. When we arrived, we realized the parking on one side of the house actually belonged to another property. The parking under the house was taken by a broken down jeep. The under side of the house was also really dirty, including a bucket with standing water and mosquitoes, other trash and the aforementioned jeep. All of this made parking our boat, very very difficult, which was the entire point of the trip. We ended up having to park our brand new boat on the side of the road, where the ground is really soft and unreliable. The property just overall wasn’t as clean as we typically encounter with the short term rentals. The downstairs bathroom smelled horrible, like mildew and mold. The towels were also really grungy, and I couldn’t tell if some towels were dirty or if they were just stained. We almost left the morning after we got there, but we had pulled the boat all that way so we decided to stay.
I am not sure the property is properly being looked after. We booked this house because it was 5-stars but we did not have a 5-star stay. 1.)the downstairs shower doesnt work 2.) the air condition isnt working downstairs. (called the real estate company and they said the property manager would come out but he never did) 3.) the sewage is leaking 4.) the comforter on the double bed in the room with bunk beds was torn when we arrived. 5.) cant watch tv in the master bedroom bc it is connected to a roku and its so outdated the apps dont work.
Nice place, well maintained.
My husband and I stayed here as we were looking for an affordable beach-ocean rental. We were a little worried since it wasn’t the ocean and there wasn’t a beach, but we loved it!!! We didn’t miss the messy sand and the view was just as good as the ocean! This house is so close to the water, you normally aren’t that close when staying on an oceanfront, so we found this as a bonus! You also normally don’t get a large cement dock when you stay on the ocean and we really enjoyed fishing off of the dock. The community is so quiet and friendly, we really didn’t want to come home. We were so relaxed and enjoyed being able to be outside under the covered porch and not directly in the sun. We felt like this rental is the best kept secret due to the quiet, the views, closeness to the water, and a better price than an oceanfront! I am not usually one who wants to go to the same place twice but I would stay here again!
This was our first time in this area of NC. The location was amazing, right on the river with a beautiful view of the water. Incredibly peaceful, neighborhood was friendly. We brought our bikes and the area was perfect for bike rides. Beds were super comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked and great for cooking our own meals. We had a small glitch with the front door being stuck, and the management were very responsive and helpful and the problem was resolved quickly. Oriental is within 15 minutes and there are some wonderful places to eat. And the grocery store there had everything we needed.
Overall great experience, beautiful river views and comfortable house. Parking is a little tight with a kayak trailer, as parking underneath the house is not an option. Something to take into account if traveling with multiple vehicles.
If you want a quiet, peaceful place to stay that is literally a distance of about 10 feet from the shore of the Neuse River, this is the place for you. It certainly was for us! Being lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves right outside the bedroom window turned out to be the most comforting sound imaginable. It was an easy and convenient stay from beginning to end, thanks to a very comprehensive list of instructions and directions for everything! Thank you for making the last part of our vacation a pure delight!
Would definitely stay here again! If you’re looking for an out of the way, quiet place, this is it.
Lovely location and enjoyed it so much. Although we couldn't find the remote for the livingroom it made for more family face to face conversations!!! Im sure we'll come again, in fact, we've already recommended it!!!
We stayed at the river house with my parents bc and dog and it was perfect! So close to many day adventures, yet secluded enough that we could enjoy the quiet, peaceful sunrises in peace. The yard is fenced in and was perfect for our pup, who also LOVED jumping off the dock and playing on the beach. The rooms were cute and clean and the kitchen was stocked with everything you need.
The process was easy, Beth was great to work with and her staff, the house is spotless in a great neighborhood right on the water and the sunsets and sunrises with beautiful is anywhere in the world. Overall it was a 10 and I never get 10s!!!!
