Renovated Lakefront Home at Smith Mtn Lake - Sleeps 10 - Private Dock, Fire Pit

We arrived at the house well after sunset, as we were driving in from out of town. Due to the location on the lake, it was quite dark and hilly, which did make it somewhat difficult to locate the driveway to the property. Once we arrived at the house, it was quick and easy to get inside. Some of the rooms were smaller than expected, but not too small. The area around the house, as well as the house itself, was quite beautiful and green. We did notice that the duvets appeared to be in need of some additional cleaning, but all the sheets and towels were in great shape. While we didn't get a chance to use it, the firepit was very nicely set up and we enjoyed sitting out on the deck and on the dock. We were surprised and disappointed with the list of expectations for cleaning on our way out, including running 2 loads of laundry through the wash, a load through the dryer, and bringing all garbage to the convenience center 15 minutes away.

This is a wonderful house for a group of 8-10! We LOVED the sunrise views over the lake every morning. And there were plenty of games and puzzles provided for us to cozy up to by the fireplace. We also had great views from upstairs and the pool room downstairs.The refrigerator upstairs holds a good amount of food, including an entire Thanksgiving dinner for 10, and the downstairs fridge held our overflow. We played on the dock and at the firepit, again, the views were spectacular at both. My grandkids loved the hammock.The grocery store was conveniently located next to some good restaurants, where we got pizzas, pasta and really good Chinese food.Carrying the trash to the local dump was time consuming and instead of making a second drop, I drove 2 bags home with me.The central living space was so large we easily had room for shared meals, charades and a couple of dance parties with the kids!If you want a nice large home with an amazing view and easy access to food and fun activities I recommend this place. Horseback riding lessons and trail riding are 20 minutes away. Putt putt, arcade and great restaurants less than 30 minutes away. And Roanoake or Lynchburg for great shopping less than an hour away. The cons were the steep incline of the entire property. Views would be limited in summer but beautiful in Spring, Fall and Winter. The heating ducts rattled in some bedrooms and the home is showing some signs of her age.Overall a solid 4 as we had a blast.

We had a wonderful stay with our family! The home was beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable for everyone. Communication with the owner was excellent, making the entire trip smooth and enjoyable. Truly a memorable experience, we would definitely return!

Check-in was easy, house is great. I wouldn’t recommend anyone over 30, out of shape or extremely young stay if you’re planning on going to the lake/dock multiple trips. The steps are brutal, they aren’t all the same rise/run & there’s a bunch of them. The boat slip use is great, the view is great. I would highly recommend for a fall or Christmas trip.

Had an amazing week with our friends. The property was great and will definitely keep this place in mind whenever we come back to smith mountain lake!!

Our family enjoyed this home. It was great for our family of all ages. The house is very large and accommodating. We appreciated the games, puzzles, etc. The steps from the house to the dock were tough for the older guests, but the kids didn't mind multiple trips per day. The dock was very nice.

We had to cancel our stay due to a family medical emergency. The owner was responsive and helpful in providing necessary documentation for our travel insurance claim, which we very much appreciated. We are hoping to book this property again for a future stay.

We stayed here for a wedding in the area. It was a beautiful home with a beautiful view of the lake. We really enjoyed it!

The property was great. I took a small group of high school seniors here for a fishing trip. The location was perfect. The house was very nice and everyone enjoyed it.

We enjoyed the house and the location on Smith Mountain Lake. The house was well-appointed and furniture was comfortable, but worn and showing signs of a few years of use. We loved the big kitchen and the big living room. The steps to the dock are not for the faint-of-heart, but having access to the dock was wonderful! Some of the outdoor furniture was not usable. Specifically the folding chairs on the deck box were rusted closed, and there no outdoor umbrellas for sunny afternoons. The neighborhood was quiet and relaxing. We could hear many birds and saw several deer in the backyard. Never heard the neighbors!Overall, we were happy with the house, the location, and Smith Mountain Lake.

The Lake house had incredible views with amenities as advertised (pool table, fire pit, dock on the lake with great view,etc.)However, the property is not well-maintained but you get a long list of chores required before checking out or you are threatened with fees.Maintenance issues:The cleaning staff didn’t clean well, leaving us with dirty countertops, dining table, dishes & floors. As other guests mentioned there were no dishwasher pods but the owner offered to reimburse us for the pods if we went to the store which is 30 mins round trip.So we cleaned the above ourselves. We also had to search for bath towels & place bed sheets on all the beds. The leather couch was severely worn & ripped. Both twin white chairs need deep cleaning. One of the screen doors was broken. Some beds had very thin comforters. We asked Host for extra blankets or throws but had none. List of chores before checkout:Make sure all dishes are washed and put away.Wash at least two loads of laundry. 1st load of towels and 2nd of bed sheets. 1st load must be totally dry. Remove all trash bags and take (off property) to a Waste Disposal Center. Closest dump center added 40 mins to our route home. A 25 Per Bag fee if you leave any behind. Next time, we will carefully review in advance if host’s expectations are reasonable before we book another VRBO. There’s no pleasure spending our vacation cleaning someone’s else unkept property or having to take 5 days worth of trash in our car.

It’s a beautiful setting with an amazing view. It could just use some repainting, some updated furniture, some general maintenance, and a real good deep cleaning.

Good time with friends in good place

Although we did not spend Thanksgiving at this house, we enjoyed all being together in this lovely home. We especially enjoyed the fireplace and view!

The property overall is great. the location is plus. It is little tricky to find the entry at night. some of our party feedback 1. the beds are too soft other than the beds in master bedroom. 2. there is no dishwasher detergent. After communicating with Laura, we were told someone will drop some, but we did not see any during our stay. We ended up hand-wash all dishes during our 3-night stay, which is not ideal. when we left, we basically have to hand wash them and load them into the dishwasher without any detergent.

Very comfortable home for a big group. Well equipped with all of the amenities. Beautiful views of the lake. The deer visited frequently including a buck and a fawn. We had a wonderful stay.

I went here for my birthday with all my friends. There was the perfect amount of space for us all to play games together throughout the house. The views were incredible. Definitely a great place for a getaway weekend with those you love.

We rented the house to spend a weekend riding horses and hanging out with friend and family. One house had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the fire pit. The location is convenient to restaurants and grocery store. Maybe we will be back in the summer to enjoy the dock area.

Propery exceeded expectations and had everything advertised. The lake access was the best. Everyone in my group had an awesome time and made memories we will be talking about for years.

Host was very responsive, had an issue with the A/C and it was fixed that day.

We had a fabulous time! The location was perfect for much needed R and R. Lots of steps to the water, but the views from the house deck were worth it!!
