Some of the local favorites
Opal lake:
No there's no water fall at the end of this hike but don't let that deter you. This easy hike located 15 miles in on Upper Blanco Road is absolutely gorgeous. Meander your way through tall quaking aspen trees, spy toad stools all in a row and if you've hit the season just right you make luck into some wild strawberries.
4 Mile: 4 Miles Don't worry this hike consists of 6.2 miles round trip with awesome views, quiet meadows, and at the end You guessed it, a breathtaking waterfall to rinse off that trail sweat. Located about 15 miles or so in off 4 Mile Road. There is an upper and lower trail head. I recommend the lower.
Treasure Falls (Tourist Favorite and local Treasure)
Not really into stomping out the miles Look no further then. This short and to the point hike is certainly not lacking in beauty and splendor. Happen to be heading up Wolf Creek Pass Perfect! Just stop by to gander at Treasure Falls. So easy, even the kiddies will have a blast.

The host didn't seem to care about a big problem we experienced & reported the first whole day we were there. Someone had gutted & skinned a deer in our parking space. There was blood, urine, & hair. It was nasty & gross. Our 2 dogs would lick the blood & urine every chance they had. There was so much hair in our pickup that the inside had to be detailed when we got home. It was 56 that day so all she had to do was send someone to hose it down. Don't be fooled the house in on nearly an acre but the enclosed fenced is the size of a postage stamp for 2 very large dogs. No enclosed porch as listed in the house description. The carpet is ancient & stained. Hot tub smelled of mildew & had a green cast. We were warned if we didn't pick up our dog poop we would be charged. But there was dog poop from a previous renter in the enclosed yard(also reported). No ice maker. Never rented a house for Christmas before that didn't have a tree. WAY overpriced. We've rented many vacation rentals in the US & the Caribbean. I would classify this as the 2nd worse we've rented. Number 1 was in Jamaica.

Proximity to town AND National Forest was ideal. Well equipped overall, though bring your own mugs if coffee/tea drinker. Communication with details, especially easentials for check-in was poor, though remedied with call after check-in time.

Booked the cabin for a weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The cabin was lovely and beautifully furnished. Hot tub was fantastic. Located a very reasonable distance from the hot springs. We had an amazing time and will likely stay here again in the future!
