The large log cabin home is located on a small lake southeast of Houghton Lake. It's in an area of nice homes located along the west side of East Twin Lake. The road is paved where the homes are, but are gravel getting to the area. We enjoyed watching the sunrises from the main deck and liked the Michigan shaped adirondack chairs. The home has a large open living room with fireplace, a well stocked kitchen, bathrooms on all three levels, and ample sleeping accommodations, many with views of the lake. There is a private bedroom on the main floor and in the upper loft area. The other beds are located in the loft area and in the lower level and are semi-private. The beds we slept in were comfortable. The main level opens to the driveway/street side of the home and the lower level opens to the fire pit and lake side of the home. The grounds are well kept and there is plenty of firewood for the fireplace and firepit. The water along the shoreline was full of vegetation, perhaps just the time of year. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
We loved the cabin and the “up north” decor. Unfortunately our weather wasn’t great, but we made the best of it. When the sun finally came out we went to nearby Higgins lake. The beach at the cabin is not really that great for swimming, kids love to swim. Our golfers loved the area and played the nearby Dreams and Nightmare courses. We may return for a fall or winter trip.
This house was absolutely beautiful. Lots of room to move around, plenty of beds, large outdoor space, beds were comfortable, and the place was beautifully decorated. Kitchen was well stocked and their were notes throughout the house letting you know how things work. Would definitely go back!
Viewed this home on VRBO and booked our family vacation right away. The owners communicated with me from the very beginning, all the way through the end of our stay. Their home is just as described and we had a wonderful time! Rented their pontoon boat for a couple of days, took out their canoe and paddle boat several times, as well. The lake access isn’t ideal for swimming because of the shallow depth and lily pads but we were able to swim from the pontoon in deeper water. The house inside is beautiful and so roomy. We had dinner several times on the outside deck and loved sitting at the fire pit near the water. We had a baby with us and he slept very well here. A few people went out on an ATV excursion and had a blast! You will not regret staying at this home and we all look forward to doing it again!
Absolutely tranquil & peaceful, saw all of the nature: bullfrogs, toads, loon, blue heron, osprey, fish, salamander, red headed woodpeckers and their babies, dragonfly's etc. Had the best time cooking and grilling meals together and just relaxing and splashing in the lake. Clean everything you could need! Our second time just as great if not better than the first! Lovely owners.
We absolutely loved this cabin. It is very peaceful and secluded and great for fishing! The house has everything you could ever need and is very clean. The owner is very responsive and helpful. Loved all the decor and the hilarious signs throughout the home. We had the best time with our kids and grandson, who also just loved the place. I just can't say enough about how wonderful it is! We definitely want to go back.
Had a great time.
Great place to stay if u want to be away from people. very quiet- small lake - The house has 9 beds 3 bathrooms and a lot of room. We had 9 guys 3 floors 2 decks space to get away. Now u are out on a gravel road in the middle off the woods and town is NOT just down the road. just take some supply.
Joe the owner is a great communicator and property renter! The house beat my high expectations. We rode snowmobile‘s and played on the lake, It was a spectacular time. The location is close to the trails. The house is conveniently located between Prudenville, West branch, and Saint Helen. It’s Everything we needed for snowmobiling. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ ?
This was the second time we were lucky enough to stay at this cabin. The vaulted ceilings, log cabin ambience, and stone fireplace provided a comfortable gathering place for our group of eight adults. Even though the October weather turned cold and rainy the large windows and ample deck space provided plenty of space for our group to interact without feeling cramped. We enjoyed family style dinners and breakfast meals at the large table. The scenery is beautiful and we took walks on the nearby trails. The owner was extra responsive to our questions. He was easy to work with and I found his business attitude and personal integrety refreshing.
Joe is a great host and communicator. The trip was fantastic thanks to accurate details of property and location. There was a ton of space for us and lots of indoor and outdoor amenities to enjoy. Couldn’t have been happier!!
Joe was an excellent host before, during and after our stay. Easy to communicate with and quick to respond to our questions.
Everything was great, house was clean and lots of space for everyone we enjoyed our visit
This was a beautiful cabin, had everything you would need and Joe the owner was super accommodating with whatever our needs were. We will definitely be back!!
Lots of spaces for privacy and for gathering together. The first time the 3 generations have all been together in a fee years. It has not been easy going between US and Canada the past few years.
I cannot say enough good things about this amazing location, home and hosts! The communication with Joe the host, was super responsive, he was incredibly accommodating and answered all my many questions before arriving quickly and thoroughly. Super nice guy! He even had the ice maker on the fridge hooked up right before our stay when i asked if there was one (which went to show how attentive he was to our needs.) The home was clean and sooo cozy with everything we could possibly need in the kitchen and every room in the house (extra blankets, pillow, chairs, fans, privacy screens you name it) when it comes to relaxing we had everything we needed. The house stayed nice and cool during the 87 degree week were there in June which was very nice considering its size. Every square inch of the place has some funny sign or nature statue/bird house and it wa just the cutest! The covered deck was our favorite coffee spot to see the lake come to life with who knows how many different dragonflies, fish, hummingbirds, frogs, and chipmunks. We felt transported and really connected with nature during our stay. We caught sunfish and a large bass while we were there. It was lovely to watch our family and friends soak it up and the young ones to splash in the shallow water by the dock. We took out the kayaks, canoe and paddle boat regularly and the lake is just wonderful, peaceful and calm, most of the week we felt we were the only ones. Plenty of room to gather on all levels of the home where we felt we all had our own personal space if needed, we also did not worry about running out of hot water during the whole trip even with our large group, which was a huge plus. We truly cannot wait to go back! Thank you again Joe!
The three of us enjoyed our stay at the cabin. There was plenty of room for more. The place is wonderful and had everything you needed. Joe was very courteous. We are ready to reserve our stay again.
We had an amazing time! They have everything you need for an awesome vacation! We didn't get to enjoy any of the many outdoor activities so we will going back. It was so peaceful and relaxing to sit by the fire and enjoy all the decor. We absolutely loved it! Looking forward to our next trip. Thank you Doug for your hospitality!
