Relaxing Home Near Universal

To start from the beginning, we booked this house in Feb 25 for Nov 25 for Warped Tour. We specifically selected this house because it has a jacuzzi and we are old walking Warped Tour all day. Upon arrival, we were unable to check in till almost 6 PM when check in was supposed to be 5pm. Spoke with the host (Joel), super nice guy said he was cleaning up after a big party and wanted to ensure it was clean. Walking around the house, numerous handles on cabinets were loose or broken all together (may have been from the party before us, unsure). We found the jacuzzi emptied! Asked Joel, he said it broke last month (October) and messages were sent to people who had booked, unfortunately we never received that notification. Joel was incredible and refunded a 1/3 of our total stay due to the inconvenience/miscommunication.

The overall condition and appearance of property was not to my standard, especially listed on VRBO. I have pictures to prove how unkept the property is. I can accept the property because it’s quite apparent that it’s an older property that was rehabbed, however a lot of corners were taken in the rehab; but what was unacceptable was the lack of quality of linens and towel. The sheets were practically see thru and there were no additional towels except the 1 per person left in bathroom. The pillows were limited and flat like pancakes. I had to call the host for a number of things, like extra pillows (they were delivered with NO pillow cases, so they couldn’t be used properly), toilet paper, paper towels, detergent and for the a/c filter to be cleaned. It was so filthy that the dust was attached to the door and wall of the a/c closet. I do have to admit that the host did respond to my requests, but I should not have had to ask for toilet paper; or coffee for that matter.- which there were none, so we just bought instead of asking. At that point I was just very disappointed. This is my first and ever review online, but I had to take the time to do this because this was suppose to be a great experience for me and my adult children, and I planned this to the tee, I was so embarrassed. I was under the impression that VRBO was suppose to be upscale, but if this property is an example then I guess not.

I'm so happy I found this location. Great place to stay and excellent communication with the host.
