Enjoy your stay at this "Dream Catcher" and make some memories that will last a lifetime.
It was a very nice place to spend the weekend. We will have to come back with a larger group since it accomodates so many people. The scenery was beautiful with the changing colors of autumn.
Over all the stay was nice and relaxing. No issues. It could have been Cleaner, the fridge had build up in the bottom left corner and draw. The host was friendly and was available when needed. Nice location close to stores. The tv in the garage was big which was nice for watching the game.
Enjoyed some time paddling on the lake, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Instead we played card games and hiked trails in Hartman’s Creek State Park. The location is perfect for enjoying the fun of the Waupaca Chain o’ Lakes. The only drawback for our 60+ age group was no bathroom in bunk house.
We had a great time. Cabin was well stocked and very charming. Air conditioned, wireless access and a beautiful spot on a beautiful lake.
2nd stay at this cottage. Just love it. Had so much fun. The separate bunkhouse is priceless for privacy and separating dogs if needed!
We went back for our second summer and loved it just as much - beautiful water, lots of amenities, comfy beds, and a convenient location. We highly recommended kayaking the upper chain and then coming back to swim and grill by the lake. Perfect.
My daughter is extremely allergic to mold/mildew. She had an attack the first nite in the bunkhouse. She tried to sleep in the bed in cottage. Not any better. The 3rd nite she slept on couch with a fan blowing on her. We checked out a nite early. All our clothes reeked of mildew when we got home.
This was our second stay at this cabin and we enjoyed it just as much, if not more, than the first. We had perfectly hot weather for lazy days floating in the lake. I really like that this lake has non-waterski hours. It’s fun to watch all the people take to the water, swim out to the shallow area or hop on their paddle boards. Would definitely stay again!
This is a quaint cottage on a quiet lake. Sunsets are Amazing ! Kids stayed in the bunk house and really enjoyed having their own space . We would definitely recommend!
The stay was great - Caitlin was super responsive and even brought over some additional toys for our kids. Stratton Lake is wonderful and we had fun fishing, taking the paddle board out, and renting their pontoon boat. One thing to note - the house did not include toiletries or many cooking supplies (no spices, etc)- so something to bring with you.
Happy with the experience and quality.
My wife, our dog Lenny, and myself just needed a time to kick back on the lake. This get-a-way was perfect. Quiet, great sunsets, lake was perfect, even though it was mid September….the swimming was awesome! The bunkhouse for a few movies nights was fantastic. For us and what we needed, this was perfect!
We really enjoyed the beauty and quiet of Stratton Lake. It was a nice relaxing getaway. The water is sandy and clear. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The main cabin would be a bit crowded for more than two people but the bunkhouse is a really nice addition. I agree with previous reviews about the bathroom situation and the cabinets coming lose from the wall. But overall these are small items that would not affect a return trip for us. The outdoor gazebo is a really nice feature we used a lot as there really isn’t much of a dining table inside. For a small group this was the perfect amount of space.
We loved our stay! The separate bunkhouse was so nice for our kids (we have 5), the water was absolutely beautiful, the neighborhood was very quiet, and the cabin was super clean. We especially loved the gentle slope to the lake and the fact that we could see the kids swimming and everyone fishing right from the cabin. I've searched a lot of properties, and this one checks all the boxes!
Pros and cons - cons first to get the bad news over with :) Cons: -main house is very rundown, not rustic, rundown. It seems neglected in there except for the decorating (which is great). -Everything needs an extremely deep cleaning; floors were filthy, our feet were black within minutes of arrival; lots of gunk gathered in corners and crevices -Kitchen cabinets giving away (starting to fall) from the ceiling -Most kitchen cabinet doors don’t close -Shower surround is old, moldy and gross; whole bathroom could use remodel -Sheets and towels were smelly so we washed everything our first night on “vacation” -My body is sore from sleeping on the pullout sofa, very uncomfortable -Garage door light flashed all night on last night in bunkhouse and nothing would turn it off; assuming something got in the way of the sensor? -No fridge (mini or standard size) in bunkhouse -Grill didn’t work except for a small flame on middle burner (lines were corroded and cracked) -Pontoon is also very rundown and dirty -Not a single person in our group of 5 could get the patio sliding door open -Pier could be dangerous for older or unsteady people; it is not level and has raised spots where someone could potentially trip Pros: -One of the better spots on the lake -Amazing view and sunsets -Well stocked rental -Washer and dryer -Lake water is clear and good for swimming, kayaking, etc -Pontoon runs nicely; motor seems newer -Decent fishing -Bunkhouse is nicely done and beds comfortable -Porch and bedroom are nicer compared to rest of main house -Communication with the owner was always great -Dog friendly We arrived a day late due to weather and left a day early due to the accommodations. The main house needs some love. New floors, new kitchen cabinets and a new shower surround. Basically what was done to the bunkhouse. And a VERY good cleaning. This place has so much potential! Overall, regardless of the cons, we enjoyed our time on the lake.
We really enjoyed our stay here - lots of updates including the awesome bunkhouse (out teenager loved it), but it still had the vintage charm of an up north cabin. It was well stocked and comfortable, with an amazing view from the living room. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed swimming all day and paddling around in the evening. Many places to sit and gather outside. The location is close to the chain and Hartman Creek State Park. Plenty to do, but away from crowds and noise. Highly recommended!
We enjoyed our trip, here are the pros and cons! The pros first--The lake is small, calm, quiet and beautiful. Lots of nice shade, nice clear clean lake. Great for kids to swim in.They have paddle boards and lots of toys and floaties the kids loved to play with. Kids caught small fish off dock. The bunkhouse was nice, a/c there was great. Screen tent with large table next to cabin nice to eat in, as no real kitchen table. Lots of outside chairs to sit on. The cons-- Both cabin and bunk house was not cleaned well at all, but the owner was very quick to respond and did compensate for it. The bathroom is in great need for a total redo, the shower/tub did not drain well and by the end of the week it did not drain at all. Owner did respond quickly and offered for someone to come out to check it. The tub surrounds also need Help!! WE did enjoy our time there but I go alot on reviews when I book a place so I just wanted to be honest.
Nice cabin on a clear, sandy lake. We had a great stay. We enjoyed the pontoon boat and fire pit. The view from the living room is spectacular (even in the rain!).
