Relaxing Beach Cottage with fantastic waterfront views, close to beaches

Our group really enjoyed our stay at this cozy beach cottage near LBI. The small, elevated home was clean and appeared recently renovated and well-decorated with an awesome outdoor space right on a breezy bay waterway. The home was well-appointed with comfortable beds and couches, multiple TVs and a cold A/C. The yard was large with multiple seating/lounging areas, a retractable awning, mood lighting, a large outdoor shower and a fire pit. There is direct water access for kayaking and other water activities. The property is literally minutes to LBI beaches and owner-provided Ship Bottom beach badges were a great benefit. The owner was easy to reach and accomodating, providing a thoughtful gift and note upon our arrival. Two items which we recommend adding in the listing are that guests need to bring their own bath towels, sheets, hand towels and also blankets as they are not provided. Also, two of the 'bedrooms' are actually one large combined second floor sleeping area at the top of the stairs without a door or any separation which wasn't an issue for us but could present privacy issues for larger groups. Overall we had a nice stay, loved the relaxing outdoor space, the easy access to the beach, and would visit again.

The home was beautiful and the location was great. Our had a wonderful time and would have loved to return at another time. The home was meticulous, and we cleaned up and left everything exactly as it was when we came and made sure everything was clean and put back neatly. (I even removed our hair from the shower drain).We left at 10am and around dinner time, I got a nasty text informing me that my security deposit was being withheld due to a broken front door (that we used ONCE) cigarette butt in the driveway (NO ONE smokes in my family so that certainly was not us!)and a fishing hook left behind on the dock (most likely an oversight).She also claimed there were some crushed m&m’s on the floor. To this day, I am baffled. We’ve rented numerous homes for vacations and have always been commended on how nicely we leave the home and this time was no exception. We’ve never had an experience like this. I’ve reached out twice to discuss her message and the owner will not answer any messages, so I’m left confused and disappointed. Sadly, there was another guest who left a similar review which makes me wonder how ethical the owner is. Unless you want to do a deep clean for hours before leaving and the cleaning company comes, I would think twice. There’s a good chance your security deposit will not be returned if there is any indication the home had guests in it. It’s a shame it had to end this way.

This is a charming beach cottage in a quiet and friendly neighborhood, just a few minutes drive from the beach. Melissa was very communicative, and was even nice enough to leave snacks and drinks for our group to enjoy. Our group included 3 couples, and we all had ample space. Highly recommend!

The property is beautifully maintained - loved the decor. House is located in a quiet neighborhood that is literally minutes from the island. Will definitely be back again.

The house is in a good location. Dog smell on sofa pillow. Not sure why since the place doesn’t allow pets. It was challenging for check in. The owner was pressuring us to get there before 8:00 pm because her lock box broke. We were traveling from far away and couldn't guarantee a time. Was pressured to get there before check in. When we arrived, place was dated. We had to bring all our own linens (sheets, pillowcases, blankets and towels, tissues, toilet paper and paper towels). Frig was dirty, had to clean it and there were opened condiments turn off especially during covid. We noticed swaying with the house. We then enjoyed the rest of the day, by Friday the weather turned bad and there was a hurricane. I was concerned for our safety and also for the patio furniture blowing around. called owner. She just said that I should stay tuned to the weather offering no advice. I offered to take some outdoor items and put them away. she didn’t seem to care. During the hurricane, the house did sway more since there were big winds. All okay after and not too much damage to the surrounding areas from the hurricane. The owner never called to ask us if were okay or if the house was okay. If that were my home and I had guests there, I would reach out. The next sunny day, could not figure out the awning. needed a battery which we bought. During our stay, we kept the place as if it were our own and made sure we cleaned everything and kept it clean and tidy. Upon departure, I asked owner if we needed to do anything before we go, and she said no just leave the key in the lockbox. Upon leaving, we made sure everything was cleaned, emptied all the garbage’s, dusted, cleaned, put the dishes in the dishwasher. I didn’t run it since it wasn’t full. I texted the owner when we left and let her know about the dishes and texted her that we left unopened food in fridge. I also let her know what we left toilet paper, paper towels, etc. here in the event another guest may need them. Then I get a charge and email charging me for the dishes and a few other things that were not something we are aware of. I sent a text to get clarification. no response. My suggestion is to do your own cleaning when you arrive and to take pictures when you walk in and then when you leave. I have rented many places before, and they have always been very happy having us and vis versa.
