Karen's house was wonderful. This was the perfect house to enjoy the Outer Banks. To start, Karen is very responsive to email. She answered my emails within about 30 min and was accommodating. The house was very clean, and there was a thoughtful little bag of some cleaning supplies left for us (including paper towels, toilet paper, some dishwasher tabs, laundry detergent and a small bar of soap). The beds were very comfortable and appeared to have fairly new mattresses. The only downside is that the cleaning company did not make the beds secondary to COVID concerns. However, they left clean sheets on each bed for us, so this was fairly easy to take care of. The beach is lovely, perfect for families. The walk to the beach is easy, about 5-6 min to the dune. However, the sand dune is large and could be an issue for young children or elderly people to climb over to get to the beach. Also, there is no life guard at the beach. There were 2 hoses and a great outdoor shower to wash the sand off from the beach. This was so useful to get sand off the bathing suits and keep sand out of the house. The hot water and water pressure were excellent outside and inside of the house. We never ran out of hot water. Karen's house is also an easy drive to the Cape Hatteras lighthouse and the Okracoke island ferry. We had a great experience at Karen's house and would love to return again.
The Good: Nice interior layout Well stocked kitchen GREAT family seating Plenty of storage (closets &drawers) in bedrooms
The good: Lovely house. Great yard. Quiet neghborhood away from the commercial areas. The in-between: Sits a ten minute walk to the beach, not five. We did a two week stay and were provided a tiny bottle of dish soap, two roles of toilet paper, one laundry tablet, and one roll of paper towels. I stay in houses like this every year in various parts of the world and this was the least welcoming setup I have seen, seemed a bit chinsy. I don't expect a free run in toiletries, but I've never seen so little given the cost of stay. The bad: Could use extra cleaning attention. Specifically the couch and area around it as well as the main bathroom. Couch had stains on it and whatever cleaner, or pet, that had been on it prior to our check in was awful and two of the five in our party could not sit there without rashing and breathing issues. The couch and floor area around it were dirty with much hair, which is why I expect it was a pet that caused the issues. Main bathroom step out carpet was dirty as well. We had to clean to start enjoying our stay.
Had a great time and the house was everything we had hoped for.
We have stayed in Frisco before but this was the first time at Reel Heaven. What a treat. The house was the perfect size for my familyk of 4 and was secluded despite being on the road. With the entrance to Ramp 49 and Frisco Rod and Gun only 1/4 mile away, the location was perfect. It was also close to several great restaurants in Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras Village. We definitely plan to stay there again!
I have been going to OBX my whole life but this is the first time we've stayed off the mainland and it was nothing short of perfect. When we booked this house, we were expecting some rustic/quirky-ness but instead it was perfectly clean, furnished with nice beds/dressers/couches/dining table, well equipped kitchen. There is a vaulted ceiling with a ceiling fan in large open living area which made it so nice. The walk to the beach was about 5 minutes (a few blocks) and they provided a beach cart for us to load our stuff. The crow's nest was the kids' favorite (and ours) for unwinding at the end of the day for a beautiful sunset. The trees were pretty the screened porch was great, the beds were comfy, literally no complaints except that I want to go for 2 weeks next time!
We stayed in Frisco before with four other families in a giant home on the beach. My family enjoyed the area so much and decided to return this year. I was thrilled to find this property to accommodate my family of four and appreciated it's privacy, convenient location, and easy beach access. Everything you could need is within a short walk or drive away. The house looks even better in real life than in the photos, and is very well maintained. Karen is exceptionally responsive and was exceedingly patient fielding my many pre-trip queries; and her familiarity with the locale helped enhance our delightful stay. I would definitely stay here again.
I’m not a computer person so I did call for help on some things and the person who helped me was wonderful and patient. I contacted the host and was able to keep in contact with her and received the entry information just as she said . We had a wonderful time and made a lot of memories with my family! Highly recommend!!
The house is very clean, well appointed, easy for our family to have a good time. Love the high ceilings, lots of light, big comfy couch, and short walk to a great beach. The owners have really put a lot of care and nice touches into this home, and were extremely responsive to any inquiry. We normally stay in Nags Head but everything was booked up and so we found this little gem down on Hatteras. After coming to obx for 20 year, we finally discovered Apple Uglies at the Orange Blossom bakery (omg) and the ferry to Ocracoke for the day. Would gladly stay here again.
This house is so nice !
Great location and house. Easy walk to beach. We had beach access with a Jeep, but found the beach near the house even better and much more convenient. Owner was very responsive.
We stayed here with our kids and enjoyed our stay thoroughly! Sunsets from the crows nest as well as stargazing were awesome! Short walk to the beach, but we often drove down the road for beach access with all our gear. Beaches are gorgeous!! Screened in porch was great for family game night and quiet time reading a good book. Great experience through and through’
This was our first time visiting the Outer Banks, NC, and we really enjoyed our week-long stay here. The best part of the house is its location: it was really a short 5-minute walk along the Runboat Circle to the beach. No vehicle access was permitted in this part of the beach. The water was already warm in early June, and we had plenty of waves to enjoy boogie-board rides. The house was well maintained and cleaned. The shower downstairs was convenient after returning from the beach, and it was pleasant to dry ourselves off on the front porch. The kitchen was well stocked, the best among the houses we rented so far. We would definitely consider renting the place again when we visit the Outer Banks in the future.
