Stayed Jul 5, 2022We did notice a slight musty smell. Other than that it was a nice, spacious place. The kids had their own room and bathroom. There was a kitchen table and a table outside. There was a washer/dryer. We found it quiet and comfortable.

Stayed Aug 19, 2025Very convenient location. Managed by Vacasa with extra steps required at check in and not as personalize at other VRBO experiences. It fit our needs and purposes otherwise

Stayed Jul 13, 2025I thought everything about this property was tremendous. You might consider putting a motion detector light by the front (side) door to assist keying in the code at night.

Stayed Jul 3, 2025I loved the quietness. It was a little staycation that we needed. The pull out couch was hard and could feel the metal through the mattress but that did not stop us from enjoying ourselves.

Stayed Jun 2, 2025We had a wonderful time in Volcano and enjoyed our stay at this cottage very much !! After two weeks in a condo in Maui, this cottage in Volcano almost felt like being home. The house is in quiet and peaceful surroundings. The only thing you hear are the birds. Sometimes a cow or a dog. But all the neighbours are very respectful and everything is so quiet at night. We enjoyed having two rooms. I took the room with the private bathroom and my friend had the room with the outside bathroom to herself. The house offers everything you need in the bedrooms, the bathrooms, the kitchen. My only suggestion would be to add two beach chairs to the equipment available in the house. They would have come handy to go watch the eruptions at night. Also at the beach to check out the turtles in the black sand. We loved having our morning coffee on the wide veranda around the house. Communication with Vacasa was more than perfect. They wrote before, during and after the trip to make sure everything was fine and to ask if we needed anything. There is no doubt that I will rent from them again. To other guests : make sure to have warm clothes. It’s very cold outside in the morning and also at night on the volcano.

Stayed Feb 13, 2025Great location, easy to find, nice and comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood, minutes away from Volcanoes National park. Lots of warm blankets and heaters for the cold nights (mid 50s F). Kitchen is sufficiently stocked if you decide to cook while you are there. You will need to bring your basics (salt, pepper, oil, etc.). I'd recommend grocery shopping in Hilo before heading in. It took us about 50 minutes to/from Hilo. There are starter soaps and shampoo, but if you're staying longer than a weekend, you'll probably want to bring your own (I always do anyway). I'd recommend this home and would stay here again.

Stayed Nov 28, 2024We have stayed at the location many times before. It has all of the basics and the nightly rate is affordable at about 100 per night. However be mindful that the fees do bring it to about 250/night. It has every thing you can need if you have a good basic mindset. Rooms are comfortable and clean, a bathroom for every room, a comfortable kitchen that provides all the needed things to cook at home and a living room with board games that we always use. It’s everything you would need. Be mindful that the patio has the type of paint that can get slippery when wet. My daughter has fallen many times because the patio gets wet and the paint is slippery. I fell and broke my ankle on the patio as well.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We like being in the Volcano Golf Course Subdivision. Just wish there was a BBQ & some staples in the kitchen like salt, pepper, Ketchup, Olive oil, stuff like that. Also better T/P and Kleenex.
