Tranquil river and a well maintained property!
Our family of four had an excellent time staying at Chris's cabin. The space was clean, comfortable, and more than met our needs. The property is right on the river, and we enjoyed fishing straight from the riverbank and dipping our feet in the water (you do need to descend down a bit of a slope; sport sandals or water shoes recommended). Our visit in mid-August meant plentiful ripe wild blackberries; it was also HOT (110ºF), but the river cooled the air and made it feel very pleasant. AC and fans worked great too. Note that the second bedroom is separate from the main house, so may not be appropriate for families with small children, but it was fine for our tween & teen.
Watching the ducks in the river each morning was relaxing. Neighbors friendly but not overly friendly. The bedroom not connected to the house (like 10 feet away) Is like a master bedroom and bath and all of it was extremely simple but with class in decoration matching the rest of the cottage. The town right near the cottage shuts down early but only 7 miles to main shopping area in Grants pass.
We really enjoyed this home away from home. It was in a good location for taking day trips to explore. The river view is relaxing. We hope to come back again if we can.
The home was as advertised. Immaculate condition in a beautiful setting. It was a great getaway. We will come back.
We were in town for friends 50th wedding anniversary. We found this cute little cottage on the Rouge River that accommodated our needs. The beds were very comfortable, kitchen well supplied and the host was extremely attentive an attempted to resolve a few of the issues we encountered. However, there was a foul odor issue in the small unit attached to the garage. It involved the plumbing and was quite annoying. At the conclusion of our stay I emailed the host with my concerns. Hopefully the issues have been resolved because it is a very cute place. The only reason for my overall rating of 4 was because of the plumbing issue.
We stayed here last week with friends and I want to let future vacationers know about the nasty smell in the cottage bedroom....First, the main house has one bedroom, and the other bedroom and bathroom are in another little building attached to the garage. When we arrived and opened the door to the cottage we were met with a nasty smell that was like sewer and mold mixed together-we looked for a source as the smell did not go away after opening the window. My husband who has experience with building houses discovered that the shower in the cottage was installed without the proper piping, thus allowing the smell/gas from the toilet to come back into the room via the shower drain(the pipe is called a P trap). I knew there was nothing the property manger could do to fix this, so I did not mention it-we bought some air freshener and sprayed the room daily as well as put a wet washcloth over the shower drain to try and stop some of the smell from coming out of the drain. we also came back to the house after an outing to find the gardener there weed eating the dirt-stirring up dust, rocks etc. He attempted to then mow the lawn where we were sitting! At that point I asked if he could come on another day (he never spoke a word to us when we arrived, so we were not sure if it was a neighbor or what) . The gardener then asked didn't the property manager speak to you about the fact that I can only come today? I told him no one said a word about it! This place is poorly managed
