This was a Midwestern rural vacation stay with warmth of a visit to a relative’s home and charm that reminds me of simpler times. It was very clean with thoughtful touches in multiple areas of each room. The hostess has thought of everything with treats in the kitchen, popcorn in the living room, books, decks of cards, inviting clean bedding with sheets and linens and towels and toiletries included. Passes to Turkey Run State Park were quite welcome and unexpected as that was our destination for the weekend. It was perfect for our needs, and our pets were welcomed as well.
Great place to stay if you're looking to hit the Covered Bridge Festival!
We hiked turkey run and this was a great location. We loved the fire pit and the beds were very comfortable.
As we drove up to this old farmhouse we were a bit worried as the exterior needs some work. We were pleasantly surprised once inside. The remodel is charming and creative. The home had everything we needed to cook a meal, a comfortable family room with a big TV and comfortable beds. They thought of little touches like a dog lead, dog bed and bowls. The side yard has chairs and a fire pit. We love historic homes and the windows, woodwork are original and gorgeous! A few cons which is why I gave this property 4 instead of 5 stars. * the bedroom with the largest bed has the HVAC system in it with a tri fold divider in front of it. When it kicks on it’s loud and woke us up several times in the night. Unless you’re a sound sleeper, you will not sleep in this room. The next night we slept in the other bedroom which was more quiet. * the Wi-Fi is slow but we were able to log into Netflix on the TV and watch that with some buffering. We could not work remotely using the Wi-Fi. I think that’s because we’re in the country. * The exterior and back of the home are still being renovated. This didn’t affect us as we stayed inside the home or in the side yard. Overall, I recommend this quaint home!
Firstly, the directions took us to the wrong house. It took us to a run down house on the highway with blankets over the windows. We obviously didn't try to go in, instead we drove to the local fure department to call host. She seemed nice and laughed that this happened before. Secondly, we finally found it and it wasn't safe to stay in. The neighbors were outside screaming profanities at kids in the back yard and the doors on the back i couldn't secure. There was also some strange room with access to the poach with strange pants hanging by the door. Outside, it was overgrown and not at all what i expected, especially for the price. Not at all VRBO standards. We left and scrambled to find a place to sleep. I let the host know all of this right away and requested a refund which I still haven't heard back from her regarding. I typically don't leave reviews like this but my hope is it will be addressed before it ruins another vacation.
We really enjoyed this historic home. Since we had updated a 100 year old home in the past, we understood the challenges of modernizing while keeping the charm. The food treats were an added touch. Everything was provided, even a dog bed though ours sleeps in a crate. This house is very close to Turkey Run Park and the Amish do ride by on their buggies. They were friendly and our puppy was fascinated by the horses. Those were the first she had seen. We would stay in this quaint cozy home again.
Nicely prepared with extra treats. We liked the rustic vibe.
Location was great and centralized to different festivals.
Perfect base camp to visit the nearby state parks for fall break! Thank you!
Allowed us early check in. Great for a quite relaxing night
My friends and I stayed here while we did a tour of the nearby Indiana State Sanatorium. The location was great and it fit our needs perfectly. The house is pretty unique with original woodwork and tastefully decorated. Very clean and had everything we needed(including breakfast which, unfortunately we didn't have time for!).
