We had an amazing stay. Never seen so much wildlife. Didn't even really need to leave the cabin to go find things to look at. The river was beautiful. Everything was as advertised. The host was very gracious. Would definitely stay here again.
Property was wonderful and location on the river was perfect. Frank was incredibly responsive and had lots of great tips on things to do locally. Fishing was great as was just floating down the river! House is fairly small but worked well for us. Would definitely come back
My family of 5 had the pleasure of staying in this home for several weeks. Communication when needed with the owners was superb. The house is absolutely charming and the pictures don’t begin to do it justice. Plenty of space for everyone and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need. The views and access to the river can’t be beat. We loved watching the wildlife and enjoying the daily beauty of the Shenandoah River. The location is quiet and private while still being relatively close to the town of Front Royal. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a get away in the Front Royal area.
With a stunning view of the river, it is a very nice secluded retreat. The house is beautiful and comfortable.
Some friends and I rented the house for a weekend getaway to fish and hang out. There was a total of 9 of us and the property accommodated us easily. There are so many options for places to hang out once you are there; down by the river, on the back deck, or in the living areas if there weather is bad. And there is no shortage of beds for everyone. We did have an air mattress with us but didn't really need it because there was a futon. All in all the place was exactly what we were looking for.
We are so happy that we spent a few days in this property. Plenty of room in the house (4 bedrooms, a roomy kitchen & eating area, 2 full bathrooms, 2 living rooms, laundry room). There is also a large deck in the back, along with tables/chairs and a gas grill. Our favorite is the area by the river. Right across from the house, with a clean and roomy deck/stairs to the river. 1 canoe & 1 kayak available to use, as well as numerous life vests and water shoes. Specific area available for a camp fire, with logs to sit on around it. We got all the river experience we wanted here! Owner Frank is very helpful and friendly, always available to answer questions. Wi-fi available in the house. We would definitely stay here again when we go back to Front Royal/Shenandoah River!
This property provided a secluded getaway for the family within a 20 minute drive to shopping and restaurants when needed. The entire family enjoyed the river and quiet while still having all the comforts of home. The home was well maintained, clean and inviting. This would make a great getaway for a couple as well. The owner quickly responded to any questions and was very helpful. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a truly relaxing vacation!
Frank and Steph were gracious hosts. The house was immaculate and beautifully laid out. This house feels like home. We are thankful for this experience filled with river views and we hope to visit again soon.
We had an awesome weekend stay on the property! The house was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. (We could have used a couple extra bath towels, but it was a minor issue.) We had a blast with the canoe and the inner tubes on the river and loved making s'mores over the campfire. The neighborhood was rustic and quiet, and the one time we took a wrong turn in the neighborhood a very nice postal worker directed us to the correct route. We would definitely stay here again!
We were very pleased with our stay. The house was nice and roomy which was great since we have a big family. The property had all the comforts and supplies of home. We didn't really lack for the necessities. There were plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans and grilling supplies. The kids beds were good and low to the floor and the toddler bed was a plus. The adult beds were comfortable but a little too tall for our taste. The teens had no complaint about the bunk beds and did enjoy the fake fireplace downstairs. The younger children enjoyed the bedroom with the skylights and the small playroom next to it. Us older kids enjoyed the Wii and fishing. The dock was great to fish off of and our youngest son actually caught the biggest bass of his fishing career (19inches and about 2-3lbs). We didn't get to use the tubes or canoe unfortunately. We were a little scared of the current that seemed a little fast. Everything was clean and tidy. The description and pictures of the property on the website were very accurate. One thing that we did like that maybe most people might find a turn off is that there was only 1 TV in the whole house. Most places now have a tv in every room, but there was only 1 in the central room which is nice. We like to monitor what our kids watch and this was very pleasing to us. We must have asked Frank and Steph a million questions both before and during the trip and all of them were answered quickly and satisfactorily. Frank made us feel comfortable in our communications with him. The cons of the property were few. The showers were a bit small for me and I'm not a huge guy. There is not really any yard for the kids to play in close to the house, although the deck was big enough for the small ones to play on and there were a couple of activities there for them. There was a few ants and stinkbugs (not uncommon for Virginia as we have found the past 2 trips there). Nothing major though. There were a few stairs to climb, so be prepared for that. There could have been a little better lighting in the driveway area at night. All in all, it was a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it.
