Private Pool + Whimsical Sleeping Porch Steps from Beach by Tybee Cottages

Amazing place and we had a wonderful stay. Our annual girls beach trip, we usually do Gulf Shores area, decided to give Tybee a visit. It was spectacular. The house was charming and we all loved it!! We are wanting to come again next year and rent the same property. Everyone gives this place A!

Property was very unique and cute although it was hard to accommodate 8 adults comfortably together. Very disappointed that the pool was not usable at all because it was extreme cool water temperature. Nearby pools and the ocean was much warmer.

Everything about this place was amazing! It’s truly a Tybee treasure. Whimsical is an apt description of the entire home- Jan and Bill have thought of every little detail to make it a delightfully refreshing getaway. The only thing that would make it better is if it was on the water—it was an easy walk, though, if we weren’t carrying so much “stuff” down to the beach.

This was a long-awaited trip with extended family. The day before arriving, we were informed that an HVAC appointment had been scheduled for our first day there. We were told that there was no way they could move the appointment. When they came, we were told it would take an hour. In reality, it was 2.5 hours and, when we checked to see if they were done, the technicians were surly and sassy. Nothing was broken that couldn't have waited until the house was vacant to address, so this was highly inappropriate and irritating. I think they were adding to the air system or something. Other than that, the place couldn't have been more wonderful for our group. Great spaces, fun and comfortable furnishings and the pool was perfect. The location was also just right - removed from hustle and bustle but a quick walk to beaches and amenities.

I stayed at this property in 2024 June 2024 and was highly impressed. Booked again for 6/21 2025 for the whole family to spend a week and owner cancelled reservation 5 days before planned trip. Luckily was able to scramble and get a house on HHI. As nice as first visit was cancelling reservation on such short notice should be known.

We've stayed at five different properties now on that end of Tybee Island and of those five, this was far and away our favorite stay! Beautiful home, plenty of space, wonderful outdoor/pool area and quick walk to either the ocean or inlet side of beach. Absolutely loved our time there!

A few small details that need to be addressed: There was a lack of towels and when we called about it, someone was supposed to bring more but that never happened. We also had an issue with the toilet in the master bathroom not flushing because the toilet tank wouldn't fill. Never saw anyone on this either but the tank started filling again on it own. Railing to the back door was loose. The house was wonderful despite these and actually seemed to add to the stay of staying in an older home with vintage plumbing.

The home was absolutely perfect! The attention to detail and historical aspects of this home added to a memorable vacation. Every room was so warm and inviting and lended itself to such great family time. We will be back!

The bunk room for the kids was a hit! The upper level porch with shower was an adorable surprise. The shaded backyard with pool provides a great place to cool down after a long day at the beach. Reviewer Comments: We've stayed at this location four times over the past several years. The property is in desperate need of maintenance and updating. It's not ventage pipes, it's poor construction. The first-floor bedroom, which was the old porch, is rotting out. The vintage windows are single glass, and the frame is rotten. It is a really nice location for what we like to do but we won't be coming back.The management is and has been very responsive. You get a 5.

Plenty of room and bathrooms for everyone. Clean, cozy and interesting house. Suggestions: Only a couple wash cloths and hand towels. Only 1 dish cloth and towell. Trees at pool need trimmed - sun only near shallow end and leaves accumulated in pool even if we cleaned it daily. The step replacement carpenter was on the property 3 days. Thank you for reimbursing 10 percent for less privacy and not using front steps. We would stay in this house again- so close to the beach and restaurants. Drew the caretaker was very helpful too.

Great place for a large group including kids. Had all the meals at the house with a well-supplied kitchen and seating areas for meals.
