Stayed Jun 22, 2025We have rented on the island several times and found this location to be perfect! As my husband said, if you're renting this home with a bunch of friends and going to play golf it's a 5 star experience. If you have a family you might feel differently about it. The two upper lofts for sleeping have precarious stairs to navigate. Not ideal for every renter. There is a bit of a feeling that you are staying in your grandmother's home. The kitchen is well equipped. We made several meals. Could use more essentials, such as garbage bags and paper towels. Overall, I would recommend this property.

Stayed Sep 8, 2024unlike many rental houses, this house has a wonderful sense of personality with lots of antiques and furniture and appointments that perfectly fit the design of the house. It’s a beautiful blend of old and new… comfortable and homey. the location is awesome with access to a private waterside area and close to everything else. the neighborhood was very quiet. We would definitely recommend a stay here. note that the loft area is accessible via a narrow spiral staircase. just be sure your guests are comfortable with that.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I have stayed at several other properties on island throughout the years, each with their own charm. Soundmeadow House is at the top of my list, however, for its stunning views, amenities, and convenient location on island. It was just 10 minutes from Oak Bluffs center and easy to get to the major roads for excursions both up-island and to Edgartown. The kitchen was easy to navigate and the grill was prepared with a backup propane tank. The two upstairs rooms with multiple beds in each room provided ample space for large groups. Though, I would designate the downstairs rooms to those with trouble getting up stairs and ladders as those were the options for getting up there. The two downstairs bedrooms had ample space, including the primary which had a private deck looking over the pond (perfect for a Vineyard sunrise!). The furniture was classic and apt. And the decor was a wonderful touch. I would certainly rent this vacation home again!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This home was perfect in many ways for our three generation family gathering. There was plenty of room for four adults, a young boy, and the house felt very welcoming. The deck and the views of Sengekontacket Pond, were entrancing, and it's an easy walk down to the water for a swim or kayaking. Everything you need is a short drive away, either in Oak Bluffs, or Edgartown, and there's easy access at the end of the road to the bike trails.

Stayed Aug 24, 2024The house is older and could have used a deep clean in corners etc but overall the house and property were fantastic. We loved our stay, views of the water, scavenger hunt through the house for fun trinkets and hitting the beach. Highly recommend.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This unique home did not feel like a vacation rental. It felt more and more like our own house as we explored the island by bike and settled in each day. We never slept so well! There was so much to explore in the home with little treasures here and there. The open concept kitchen, living, and dining area made for great opportunities to hang out, play, and relax as a family, while the bed spaces offered plenty of privacy. A bonus room off the dining area had a piano, comfy seating and casement windows that allowed for enjoyment of the great weather. We also enjoyed the views of the large pond and even the ocean beyond the coastline in the distance from the living areas and the wide deck off the back of the home. So peaceful! Meal preparation, dining, and clean up was easy with all the necessities in place. There were plenty of pots, pans, plates, spices and storage areas for food. In addition, it was easy enough to access restaurants and markets to split our time between eating at home and enjoying the great food options on the island. The location was ideal for easy trail and road access to Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, & Vineyard Haven. There were also a great amount of natural and recreational options nearby, as well. We definitely plan to return to this great home in a wonderful place!
