2025 Update - new management, windows, exterior paint, trail and MORE! We have been thrilled to host guests and work extra hard to ensure that Rivendell continues to be an ideal place for resting safely with your loved ones and team. At our home, you will be isolated from crowds and even neighbors. All the information you need is sent to you before your visit, so you won’t have to interact with anyone outside your group or family during your entire stay. When you reserve Rivendell, thehome, 8+ acres of woods, and dock are all set apart FOR YOU. No other guests. No other visitors. Just you, your group…and lots of peace. ***

Rest, space, privacy, peace....hiking, cold water fishing, wooded walks, family memories...we invite you to experience our prayer retreat home on a bluff overlooking Lake Taneycomo, Rivendell in Branson.

Ideal for family reunions, staff meetings, retreats, luxurious vacations, golf outings, girls getaways, and those who want to hike and fish by day and relax in a hot tub by night...

Our guests have asked to take our mattresses home, 'borrow' our original art :-), move in permanently...One tween hugged her mom and said, 'I feel like I'm a princess!!'

Golfers rest between rounds near the grill or fireside for a game of chess. Fishermen hike down to the lake to our private dock to catch trout for lunch. Families walk through the woods and roast marshmallows over the firepit. Sun-lovers tan on the deck and then lounge in the hot tub...

No need to worry about thin walls or loud neighbors or traffic noises...or people even knowing where you are! Our address is literally off the map, tucked away within 8+ acres, hidden by trees on 3 sides and Lake Taneycomo on the fourth.

Though just 3.5 miles from Hwy 76, 6 miles from Branson Landing and minutes further to all the fun Branson offers, you may never want to leave once you pull in...

Wake-up in your comfy bedroom (each one has a different theme!) to watch the deer in the morning. Warm-up to winter seated fireside by the Lord of the Rings chess set. Take a nature hike with loved ones. Enjoy laughter with family and friends around a grand dining table, over a game of shuffleboard, table bowling, foosball, arcade games, or with the Wii.

Watch the sunset with a panoramic lake view on one of the decks. Relax in the 8 person hot tub or detox in the 2-person sauna before you say, 'good-night.'

And end the day with a cup of your favorite coffee and a great book from Rivendell's house library as you sink into one of our fabulous chaises and chairs.

Welcome to our retreat home. Every inch is devoted to spiritual rest and renewal.

Welcome to a private haven hidden in the woods on Lake Taneycomo, a cold water fishing lake.

Welcome to a resting space where no one can find you and no one is calling your name.

And if you're still reading...here are five notes for you:

1. Our home is county permit approved with an occupancy up to 20 guests.

2. No amplified music or weddings are permitted because of how sound travels along the lake.

3. This property sits atop a scenic bluff overlooking beautiful Lake Taneycomo, offering breathtaking views from the house and a tranquil escape at the dock below. Guests can access the private dock via a natural wooded trail, but please note that the hike is moderate and may be challenging for individuals with mobility issues or elderly guests. While trickier sections have stairs to assist, the trail includes uneven terrain and is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers.

The stunning sunset views from the dock are well worth the effort — a peaceful reward after your trek through nature!

4. Our home is now 27 years old and every year we tackle a new project. In 2018, that was a new roof. In 2019, a new heating/air unit. And our focus in 2025 is brand new exterior paint, windows, a full path to the lake, and refreshed decks.

5. Please note that our home is in the WOODS on a LAKE in the OZARKS. Dirt paths and wood stairs weave throughout the 8+ acres but if you're looking for a manicured arboretum, please keep looking. However, if you're up for some hiking, love the outdoors, and aren't bugged by bugs, you'll really enjoy exploring Rivendell's acreage! There's 7 park benches to discover, a creek bed to explore, and in the spring there's a little waterfall to find.

This property is incredible and rather whimsical. It is off the beaten path, tucked away in the woods though a little hard to find. To be fair, the directions were quite clear but it was dark and i didn't read closely enough. There were plenty of spacious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Each bathroom shower was a little different and exploring was like a treasure hunt. The kitchen was well-equipped and exceptionally clean. The property amenities were well described. The view was absolutely beautiful. The host was quite helpful and contacted me several times with information, suggestions, and recommendations. Excellent stay -- I highly recommend this property.

Very comfortable for all of us. We had 6 adults and 5 children. Your place is amazing. All we needed and amazing views morning and evening. Close to everything. We even had groceries delivered. What more could you ask for. Thank you so much for letting us make wonderful memories at your beautiful home.

This place was PERFECT! My husband and I have never taken a vacation with ALL of our children and their spouses or significant others, and this is exactly what I needed. Every room showed great care and thought and every bathroom was wonderfully laid out. The kitchen was fully stocked with supplies, I cooked every meal for all 9 adults and 2 children with ease. The table was large enough to accommodate all of us. We have not been able to sit together and enjoy a meal in a very long time. We loved all of the books, and games!Host was very responsive!

Our stay was EXCELLENT!!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The lake view from the home on the decks is GREAT!!! The only hiccup we had walk down to the dock was a bit challenging for some of our group. It is long walk downhill to the dock and a challenging uphill walk on the way back. The home, the area, the host and everything else definitely AWESOME experience.

The perfect get-away that’s still close enough to everything! The “walk to the dock” is a pretty good workout! We caught several trout. The house itself is fantastic, albeit a little creaky upstairs, just adds to the charm of it all. Would definitely recommend if peace and quiet is what you’re looking for

Gorgeous lake view with several bald eagle sightings! We had plenty of room for 15 people attending our daughter's wedding at nearby Sycamore Creek Ranch. Perfect location. Lovely morning walk. 10/10

This was a beautiful house and my family had a fantastic time. So relaxing and comfortable for all. Well maintained and completely outfitted with everything you can ask for. The host was very responsive and ensured all our needs were taken care of. Loved the showers, jacuzzi, easy access to the lake for trout fishing where we caught several. Beautiful views on the outdoor deck, kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to take care of my large family of 18 ranging from an infant, young children, teenagers and adults. Wish I could live there as it is a dream home. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful house with our family reunion. If I could give more stars I would

Everything was as described, noting the bunk beds are in very tight quarters with minimal space between bottom bunk so really only appropriate for elementary aged sleeping. The cooling system , whitewater and water pressure all earned 5 stars on their own. The amenities and supplies items were nice and plentiful ! The hot tub and sauna, gaming options were all used almost daily. Bring deep woods bug spray if visiting in season. But the house was without bugs , spiders and their webs even . Lots of great wildlife visitors. The description for the trail to the dock is correct , it was a trek and the include grade was no joke. The deck at the house and fire circle were great spaces for our group to have coffee in the am dinner as well as star gaze. The host was spectacular in responsiveness.

Beautiful home, but getting there and parking for more than 2 vehicles is an issue. Steep trail down to the dock, not for those with unstable gait. Views are awesome. All kinds of birds and even saw a newborn fawn. Grandkids loved the firepit. Very relaxing.

Friends gathered to help celebrate my 60th birthday. Rivendell was an amazing property for us with plenty of privacy for all our guests both outside and in the house, which is hard to find. The fireplaces, deck and accommodations were spectacular. Very comfortable though elegant space. Everyone left for home eager to return. We will be back.

Outdoor property is unusable. House and beds were decent. Most games are in outside garage and severly outdated. Dock is extremely hard to access. Basics like trashbags and dishwasher tablets not adequately provided. Wifi did not work, whirlpool tub would not hold water. Overall we enjoyed our time but for the cost, they need to update the house.

Overall, it was a great place to stay. Beautiful views and nice and quiet. The driveway was a bit difficult because it was super rough right by the house. And everything was amazingly clean with the exception of the kitchen floor. Everybody enjoyed being there very much.

Love the property and the house, plenty of room. We all wished we had more time to just hang out at the house! Love the big front porch and the decks out back. My husband and i walked down to the dock, beautiful! The directions at the very end were very hard to understand. There was no triple fork. Maybe something bright and easily visible needs to be put out near the correct road to take? We also couldnt find sheets for the pull out couch? All in all, i would bring my family back down to this gorgeous house. It was lovely, you guys did an awesome job. Thx, Debbie

We was a family of 17 and it was plenty of room for all of us. The house is beautiful. Every room is different and unique. The hot tub was great. The views are wonderful. We saw 2 bald eagles just about every day that we was on the deck. They would come through in the morning and back through in the evening. I agree with others that says the walk to the dock is very challenging. Especially for my wife that has had both knees total knee replacements and heart problems. Even some of the younger, in shape people that was in our group, it was a challenge. The refrigerator did not make enough ice so we ended up buying a bag. Suggestion: Would be good to have a dish drain to put dishes in that cant go in the dishwasher. And to move the hot tub under a porch. That way it could be used if it was raining or snowing.

We had an amazing stay in this home. The owners have everything you need for your stay. We were so impressed. And it was so clean not a cobweb or bug in sight anywhere… and I looked pretty hard in the kids’ bunk bed room to make sure. We loved the views from the deck and the sunsets were spectacular. Unless you are in pretty good shape I wouldn’t recommend the hike to the dock though the owners have put in a lot of work adding wooden steps and clearing the path.Still it is steep. The dock is so nice to fish from though we didn’t have any luck we weren’t really prepared for trout fishing. The only suggestion I could make is to find a way to add a TV to the upstairs living area as my elder parents were not able to make it downstairs to the entertainment room. We enjoyed playing chess and checkers and the large kitchen dining table was great for games. We would stay again!
