Private country house between Orvieto and Lago di Bolsena

Lovely stay with great communication from host

The house is very nicely furnished, well equipped and very clean. truly a gem. it has 2 nice outdoor sitting areas shaded at different times of the day. however, we were looking for privacy and quiet and that need was not met. The house is not free standing (photo). there is an adjacent house ( with shared wall) with an Italian family living there permanently. The woman has a loud, piercing voice and she speaks all day from 7 am till 10 pm . you hear their radio/TV too. The other surprise for us was that the owner lives permanently on the property. this is not in the house description. Her entry door next to the patio. so that patio is not private. Since this is a small , old house with thin walls you hear her talking on the phone, or listening to TV. Further, there were many service people who came in the course of our 2 weeks and we had to put up with this as well ( vacuuming, grass mowing on sat eve when we just sat for dinner at 7, some repairs). At the moments when we were alone on the property it was wonderful so overall we have a mixed experience.

This is a very nice property. Veronica is very accommodating. The description of her house is very accurate. We like to choose properties away from tourist attractions yet close enough to drive to. Veronica’s house fills the bill, about a 20 minute drive to Orvieto. Happy to recommend

Veronica was a very kind host. The property is one of the finest we have stayed at in Italy. As per other visitors comments, the roads are narrow, a car the size of a Golf is an ideal size. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, plenty of lounge space and terraces outside. It is situated is what could only be described as a large park, the landscaping is massive. Very rural location, you will have to drive for any facilities. Recommended if you want a quiet holiday.

We absolutely loved our stay at Veronika's place and it's proximity to Orvieto (about a 25 minute drive away). During our stay we visited Todi, Assisi, Amelia and Lake Bolsena. We shopped every day at the Coop in Orvieto near the autoroute. The kitchen was very well equiped. We enjoyed cooking in the evening. The only thing to flag for others - if you are driving and you have a very big car - the dirt track to the property is very, very narrow and our car only just fit! Hence the reason we didn't go out in the evening. Fine if you have a smaller car.

Very comfortable bed. Large bathroom. Excellent, well-supplied, modern kitchen with everything you need or want. Two wonderful outdoor porches in addition to wide open fields and a pergola with comfortable chairs. I can't imagine a nicer place to stay. It is certainly far and above any place I've stayed for vacation rentals. We loved everything about this place and were sad to leave it after just a week.

We truly enjoyed our stay here. Veronika was very helpful in getting us to the location because it is off the usual roads! But once we found it, we loved it. It is so peaceful and quiet and comfortable! We loved being able to drive to Orvieto for a bite to eat, and discovering Bolsena nearby was delightful. The kitchen is amazing at this house, and we had several nice meals here. Don't stay here if you're looking for tourist traps or the usual Italian vacation -- what you'll find, instead, is nature, peace, quiet, and relaxation. We could not recommend this house -- or Veronka -- higher!

Casa Acquafresca provides an idyllic setting in the Umbrian countryside, “the green heart of Italy.” The renovated farmhouse remains true to its origins but with all the modern conveniences. Luxuriate in the solitude, sleep with the windows open and awaken to birdsong. We enjoyed all our meals al fresco in one of two outdoor settings on this large property. The kitchen is huge and lacking nothing; it is fully equipped with gas cooktop, electric oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and small appliances. Wifi proved to be reliable indoors and out. The location is convenient to Orvieto, Lake Bolsena and Civita di Bagnoregio. We stayed for two weeks in May when many of Veronika’s abundant flowers were spectacularly in bloom. We can easily recommend this property and would gladly return.

We spent a wonderful week at this charming house near Lake Bolsena. The house is in a quiet park-like setting and has everything you could need for a relaxing enjoyable time in this part of Italy. Veronica was very friendly, helpful, and very conscienscous in making sure we had an enjoyable stay. The photos on the VRBO site are accurate and the house and grounds are just as they seem. We will certainly be back here again.

A very nice place with spectacular surroundings. We had a lovely stay! Only 2 things to take into account: the nearest supermarket is 20 m away and there are quite a lot of mosquitoes.
