My family traveled from four corners of the country to gather at this lovely home for Thanksgiving 2019. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the property immensely. I certainly encourage others to enjoy this wonderful home. We were 10 adults and 3 children (3months, and two 3 year olds). As described on the site, the property accommodated us rather perfectly -- everyone was more than comfortable in their rooms (we had four couples and two singles); each had their own bathrooms and were otherwise able to find quiet when they wanted. The house was great and full of wonderful places to gather for various activities -- reading by the fire; poker/card table, darts and billiards in the game room (replete with an outstanding bar); a lovely baby grand piano, and a big kitchen for cooking, gathering and eating. The dining room was spectacular (and the table was set beautifully for our Thanksgiving meal prior to our arriving, which was so nice!), and more than accommodated our party of 13. The houses' ability to keep us all occupied was important-- end of November can be cold which limits outside activities a bit, so having things to do inside was key. Many of us got a huge kick out of the movie theater, which, as billed and pictured, consists of a huge screen and awesome surround sound, and warm, cozy, large chairs to sit and watch. A movie buff might not find any reason to leave that room. The grounds were lovely and well kept, and we enjoyed taking walks to nearby farms -- the children got a big kick out of the Shetland pony down the way, as well as the cows and horses. For city dwelling children especially, this was a big treat, though the adults enjoyed it too! Lastly, Bill and Mona were lovely to communicate with prior to our stay (helping us to understand our local surroundings, including places to eat and shop, answering questions about the property and suitability to our party), and were continuously helpful with questions and answers both prior and during our stay. Brian, the property manager, was also super nice and helpful throughout our stay. We really couldn't have asked for more thoughtful hosts and are grateful that they opened up their home to us. I recommend this property without hesitation.
Kennedy Manor sits atop a hill with beautiful views of the valley below and the distant mountains - visible from its many windows and decks. This special home had everything to make the perfect setting for our family Christmas celebration near our great niece's holiday wedding: 6 bedrooms in the main home, each with its own bath; a fully equipped kitchen; four lovely living spaces - a solarium with self-playing grand piano, a library perfect for playing games and watching football while sitting in front of the fire in reclining chairs, a casino/play room again with comfy seating areas/large bar/casino table/fireplace, and a living room with two seating areas, one in front of fireplace, one facing large TV; a dining room which seats 20; and in the basement an exercise room, a movie theater, and the 6th bedroom/bath. The spacious master bedroom suite included a walk-in closet, a jacuzzi tub, a walk-in shower, and a fireplace to ward off the evening chill. A favorite spot, used by each of our four grandchildren and the five adults, was the window seat in the kitchen - our 8 month old granddaughter loved standing there to look out over the yard and valley below (leaving many fingerprints on the window - sorry Mona and Bill). An added bonus was the festive Christmas decor throughout the home - thank you, Mona! And the decor was all on timers! We chose the Christmas tree in the game room for our Christmas morning celebration; set in the corner between plate glass windows and sliding glass doors, the view outside was as special as the view inside watching our grandchildren opening their stockings. Our hosts, Bill and Mona Kennedy, saw to our every need, providing ample linens, paper goods, kitchen staples including many spices, tin foil and such, a laundry with detergent included, and even checking with us the rainy morning of the wedding, offering to move their cars out of the garage so we could leave dry. Kennedy Manor is close to a grocery store, drug stores and an urgent care in Kutztown. Perfect for replenishing groceries during our week stay and particularly appreciated when our granddaughter became ill. Would that all VRBO homes were as wonderfully special as Kennedy Manor and its owners. . .thank you, Bill and Mona, for the cherished memories, enabling us to celebrate Christmas and a wedding far from home!
