Perfect for an unforgettable vacation
This property occupies a rare private position on the shore unobstructed by trees that are plentiful elsewhere, this hard-to-find property boasts panoramic views of the open ocean, Muscle Ridge Channel and the islands that dot the coast all the way into the distance. From around the point to the left you can see all sorts of boats traveling up and down the coast from kayaks to schooners and then watch them recede into the far distance.
The fully equipped and well lit kitchen and the dining room with a breakfast bar in the dining area, accommodate cooking and gathering while being convenient to the deck for grilling and outdoor dining.
For indoor entertainment, there is a television, wireless internet, books about Maine, games and puzzles. Outdoors on the lawns, you can play croquet, badminton and, other games on the lawn, or just relax siting in the chairs or enjoy a shady retreat on the deck that is 10' from the water's edge.
We love swimming at Crescent beach in late afternoon light or to launch kayaks to explore the shoreline. Bike, walk or drive 1 1/2 miles to the Owl's Head Light house for amazing views or for an easy hike. Head 1 mile down the road to the Owls Head General Store for their famous "Seven Napkin Burger" (voted Maine's best Burger), Fried Haddock Sandwiches, delicious home made pizzas, or for your morning coffee and fresh baked blueberry muffins.
In the water close by is a boulder, called a glacial erratic, that re-appears sitting on the sand when the tide goes out, dividing an arc of long low waves. Small rocky Treasure Island is a gem in the morning sun picturesque with its, stand of spruces and an ancient lobsterman’s shack. This is the evocative shore-scape view which can be recognized in numerous 19th c. paintings of the Maine coast.
The house sits on over an acre of land, and along with the sandy beach, this rare combination is part of what makes this property so special. You experience the relaxation of being far away, with the convenience of the town of Rockland only 7 minutes away. On a cloudy or rainy day, we love to visit the many art galleries throughout the town, the Farnsworth Museum, the Maine Center for Contemporary arts, stop at one of the may cafe's for coffee and a bite, or choose from the numerous restaurants for dinner.
We are happy to offer our guests information about the many hidden gems that has made our time in Maine so memorable.
Please note- this is a no pet, no smoking property.

First, please let me make it clear that I understood the cancellation policy of this property. Let me also make it clear that this was the first time that I have ever NEEDED to cancel a property. My son and fiancé decided that they were tired of all the wedding planning and moved their date up by months. As soon as I knew this was going to happen I contacted the owners/managers of this property. Mind you please that while we were communicating about this property Pre Booking they were very responsive. When I contacted them about hoping for some mercy in this instance they took weeks to respond. I have the screen shots of the dates. Anyway, I was hoping for some sort of quick communication and a resolve that would benefit both parties. Even since my most recent response to their reply they have not responded. Avoidance is not a professional way to do business!!! As wonderful as this property looks I would definitely avoid renting from this owner/manager.
Amazing location. Wonderful hosts. Classic Maine house. Can’t wait to go back!
The owners were lovely, responded to all issues is a prompt and friendly fashion. Due to illness I had to leave one week into the month we had paid for. The owners graciously allow us to have another relative use a few of our days. I would totally recommend this property
A true gem on the water. The home was clean, well cared for and with all the necessities provided. It truly was a perfect summer home on the water. We brought our own kayaks and could put in and take out within a few hours of high tide. Each day we enjoyed cocktails with a view, watching the bots and yachts slide by on their way to points north and south. The location is excellent with only a short drive to Rockland but also a short drive to Camden and Port Clyde. If we had any issues it was that the shower pressure was lacking but other than that, it was a great place for us to get some rest and relaxation and enjoy the beautiful coast of Maine.
We really enjoyed our stay in Owls Head. The property provided easy access to several cute towns such as Rockland and Thomaston. The grounds and the waterfront were wonderful with plenty of space and very quiet. The ocean view from the home and property was wonderful. The Cape Cod style home was super cozy, well appointed, and met our needs. The adjacent beachfront and the easy walk or drive to Crescent Beach were great for exploration. Despite an early communication issue related to a typo in my email address, once the owners were made aware, they corrected and provided plenty of information. Like many vacation homes, there were a few areas of the home that could use a little TLC... the bathroom could use an update, the recliner had some tears, etc. The fans and open windows were usually sufficient, but a few nights got a little warmer than I prefer in the bedrooms. The half bath was almost unusable in that it is a toilet (without a sink) added to a closet space between the stairs and the chimney. Better than only having one bath option, but would not necessarily be functional for all users. Beach access required a careful climb down some larger rocks and could be an issue for those who may be unsteady. Due to being on a well and the current water table, there was an emphasis on limiting water usage. This did not present much issue for our family, but I could see how this could be an issue if you desired lots of long showers, running multiple loads of laundry, etc. The exterior sitting areas were lovely, but there were none that were covered for enjoyment during rain. All in all, a lovely stay.
