Stayed May 16, 2025Our group of 15 ladies agreed this home is special on many levels. What we loved: open space kitchen, dining, and living, kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals, comfortable sleeping and clean linens, plenty of parking, easy access from the Seattle eastside, beautiful views of farmland, beach, and water. We were treated to a beautiful sunset and multiple rainbows on a one of our nights. Great walking beach with sea wildlife and eagles, herons, etc. The deck has a partial cover for hanging out. This is an older farmhouse that is maintained well. We will likely book again.

Stayed Aug 8, 2024We had an overall pleasant stay. We were 12 people, ranging in ages from 26 to 74. The sunsets on the back porch were lovely, and we had plenty of space in the common areas to cook, eat, and relax. Other observations: The home and furnishings show more wear in person than in the images. The house is split into two separate living spaces - the main floor and upstairs are separate from the basement unit, which has a separate kitchen, bathroom and two tiny bedrooms with a larger living room. Accessible by walking down a gravel hill. The upstairs refrigerator, which runs 50 degrees at best, was not suitable for storing meat products. We stored more perishable foods in the basement refrigerator while cooking everything upstairs, so it was not terribly convenient but workable. Kitchen was equipped sufficiently. Overall, there are 4 toilets and 3 showers for a house that sleeps 12. None of the main-unit bathrooms had functioning fans. Showerheads were low and the bathrooms had lots of wear. Only one toilet on upper floor for 3 bedrooms, with no shower. House has mold/mildew issues, which we mitigated with limited success by leaving doors and windows open as much as possible. The images show the double bed rooms as more spacious that they really are. Overall, we appreciate the responsiveness of the management team and felt they did a great job with what they had. Not sure we would stay here again, but it did have its charms, especially the beach access and bay views.

Stayed Jul 12, 2024It is very troubling for me to write a review like this as I have 30 short term rentals on the coast, so I understand how this works. The property is not represented accurately in the photographs as you think you are arriving at an upscale property. On the contrary, upon arrival you find old dirty carpets, mold in the bathrooms, furniture that came from a yard sale or Goodwill. The bed in the primary bedroom is not the bed in the photographs you see online. There is a significant mold issue in this home causing a health risk. The beds themselves where the cheapest money can buy and most likely also came from Goodwill. The shower heads in two of the bathrooms were for someone five feet tall. The bathrooms are just old and worn. Toilets that were old, small, low to the ground. If you were taller than five feet you needed to be on your knees to shower. The closets and most of the upstairs had a very strong smell of mold and mildew. The walls are scuffed up and do not present well. The home is leaning significantly. I am not sure it is structurally safe. We travel often and frequently stay in homes listed on VRBO. I would like to be contacted by a VRBO representative as I would like a full refund for this property.

Stayed May 17, 2024We couldn’t have been more pleased with our 4 night stay at Maxwelton Farm Guest House! We were on the island for our son’s wedding and everyone in my family said they loved the house and the view and would stay here again.
