Tenants Harbor, Maine
Balsam Cottage is a family - friendly cottage where our children and grandchildren have gathered to enjoy the area of Mid-Coast Maine. We would like you to enjoy it too! The cottage rents from Saturday to Saturday during the summer months and is available for more flexible bookings during spring and fall. This sunny and spacious 4 bedroom cottage is a quiet retreat that is sheltered by tall spruce trees that provide privacy, yet the harbor and the village are only a short walk away. A ramp leads to the large wooden wrap around deck that is outfitted with comfortable chairs - a quiet place to have morning coffee or afternoon tea while watching the birds, reading a good book, or planning your activities for the next day.
On the first floor of the cottage there is a newly refurbished living room with comfortable seating for up to eight guests, a fireplace, and a large screen smart TV. Guests can log in to their own Apps. and watch whatever they want. There is also a bright, sunny dining area where the family can gather, and a galley kitchen. There are also two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and a newly renovated bathroom with a walk-in shower and a comfort height commode. A washer/dryer unit is also is located on the first floor.
On the second floor there are two large bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a full size bed and a twin bed. There is a second full bathroom between the two bedrooms with a tub/shower. Bed and bath linens are not included. You can either bring your own or we can arrange to have them supplied for a per person fee upon request.
This cottage is equipped with Cable TV and WiFi to keep you entertained and connected as you plan each day's adventures.
Access to the shorefront just a five minute walk away. Our guests can launch their kayaks or canoes in this area and explore the waters of Tenants Harbor. We recommend Drift Inn public beach in Port Clyde, a 5-10 minute drive from the cottage, for swimming. This beach has a beautiful sandy expanse at low tide. Bring a picnic lunch, a good book and enjoy the day! There is a public parking lot a short walk from the beach.
The village of Tenants Harbor is just a short walk away from the cottage with scenic views of the harbor along the way. The post office, general store, The Quarry Tavern at The East Wind Inn, The Town Landing, The Schoolhouse Bakery, and the Happy Clam restaurant with its Outback bar are nearby. Walk by the Town Office and see the sculpture of St George and the Dragon, and stop in at the Jackson Memorial Library. The cottage is located only a short distance (10 minute)drive to Port Clyde where you can book tickets for the Ferry to Monhegan Island, pick your favorite flavor at Village Ice Cream, enjoy the scenic view from Marshall Point Light, or check out the art galleries.

The house was located in a Forrest of trees but within walking distance to the harbor and the general store. Very peaceful setting and we enjoyed our stay. Very easy to communicate with owners.

Had an extended stay what a great place very convenient to all surrounding locations
Enjoyable
A very well located and stocked rental home. This house has ample space and a generally well stocked kitchen. I would note that the grill is a George Foreman grill and so smaller and less heat than many will expect. However, we were able to make it work to grill our lobsters. We had a great time and would happily stay here again.
Perfect location for a trip to Maine! House was clean and comfortable located in a beautiful wooded property. Very quiet and loved the serenity of the area. We did a lot of sight seeing of the Maine coast so this was a very good midpoint. Wonderful hosts! Provided detailed listing of restaurant, things to do in the area etc.
It was a no drama or stress vacation with a super easy rental process, great clean and well equipped home in a nice location.
The cottage is in an excellent location-very private, short walk to the beach. There was plenty of room for all of us. Being able to walk into the village to the store, restaurant, etc was really convenient. I highly recommend this property. The owner was very communicative and helpful as well.
We had a wonderful week in this house. The kitchen is well equiped. The house was clean and well maintained. We had a lovely time visiting family and enjoying the local area. The trip to Monhegan Island was a special day.
