The house is centrally located (near the iconic water tower) and extremely walkable-- just several blocks from the courthouse and the north end of downtown.

There is lore the house was built by a mean cowboy. It is 100 years old, recently updated with HVAC, and nicely appointed with modern touches while retaining its original character. The Rancher features a xeriscaped, native-planted yard with spots to sun soak during the day; offers a wide-lens view of the Milky Way + dark skies at night.

This modern two bedroom is well-lit and has several cozy places to hang. The combined big front room features a living and dining room with 9` ranch style table. There are two bedrooms- one with a comfy organic queen canopy bed, the other with a Japanese organic wool cot (this is an incredibly firm twin bed, FYI). Both bedrooms feature a full bathroom per space. The house has a sunbathed front living and dining room, and a modest kitchen nook in the original kitchen. There are a few different work spots with the fastest wifi in town, should you be coming to write that novel or Zoom into work. There is a nice collection of artwork in the house that mainly features Texas artists. Featuring a Philips Hue lighting system to set the tone.

You`ll have access to the whole house including the driveway, small front patio, and entire backyard. There is a back gate that is to be kept shut for privacy from the casita. The cowboy tub is only accessible May-August.

You are offered a private stay, and I am a message or call away should anything arise. I believe in travel being restorative and reflective- so you are provided you your own space to tap in! Please use Airbnb message to contact me- cell service out here is hard to count on.

This house is in the original town of Marfa, one of the oldest neighborhoods. It is 3 blocks off of the main street (Highland Ave) in Marfa, a stone`s throw from the courthouse and across the street from the Marfa water tower. Walk north 5 blocks for mountain gazing, west 1/4 a mile for some beautiful footpaths.

Marfa is very walkable! A mile long by two miles wide, and nearly a mile high, it`s easy to bike or walk to most anywhere. Having a rental car is ideal for getting into town and granting yourself access to our famed Star Parties at the MacDonald Observatory outside of Fort Davis, swimming at Balmorhea, hiking in Big Bend, and visiting quaint, nearby Alpine, TX. Use ebike marfa for alternative wheels.

Marfa STR Unit 52

We welcome families and kiddos, but NO PETS at this time to respect allergies and the fragility of the very soft, original wood floors we recently restored. Please don’t ask, our pet policy is firm.

+ There is also a casita, which can be rented separately or together if you have a larger group. Link is: airbnb.com /h/private-casita-in-marfa (remove the space after `com` to use the link)
Note: these are private spaces from each other, separated by a 6’ fence- you may use the back gate ONLY if you rent both! And if you are only renting the main, be assured you won’t notice the other guests whatsoever as there is great privacy between the two. If you need help renting both, please get in touch!

+ Please note the main bedroom has an opening (sans door on purpose) that leads into a bathroom/Washer/Dryer/closet area and hallway. The guest room has a door in the same utility hallway, so it`s all separate and private without noise transfer, but we like to let folks know that there isn`t a door on this part of the main bedroom. There is however a door in the second bedroom/office so you may close that off from the utility hallway that separates the two bedrooms.

+ Please also kindly note: this house is located in the high desert, in a remote region. We have dust, even dust storms. We have insects and arachnids including spiders, harvester ants, and scorpions- and more! I hope this far-out landscape is part of why you have chosen this locale. That said, please note a 100-year-old structure does not guarantee a complete seal. This does not mean the house has not been fully, and thoughtfully, cleaned for you. Please do not consider booking the place if you are the type who is unable to handle dust that might have blown in or an errant insect. *This is not to signify an insect problem, but rather as a gentle and kind warning of a rare situation.* Many thanks.
Welcome & Communication
Please use Airbnb messages only for all communication. Cell service is spotty here, and Airbnb messaging ensures we receive your note.

If you can’t reach us, contact Angela (caretaker, in town): 43two-295-3539

House Respect
Remove your shoes upon entry. Goatheads are a nuisance, and we’d love to protect our 100-year-old pine floors (as well as your bare feet).

No events or parties. This is a quiet neighborhood. Non-compliance will result in immediate cancellation (no refund) and an additional charge.

Only registered guests are allowed. The home is set up for 3 guests. If you’re considering adding someone, please ask first—additional guests are $35/night with prior approval.

Outdoor Use
Outdoor areas are shared. Feel free to enjoy the front and backyard, but please note the casita on the other side has its own outdoor space.

The cowboy tub (6` pool) is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day only. Pipes can’t handle the cold.

No use of the fire pit during burn bans. (Currently active)

No smoking or burning anything (cigarettes, marijuana, incense) anywhere on the property. We are in a high-risk wildfire area. $200 cleaning fee applies for violations.

Pets & Safety
No pets allowed unless explicitly approved in advance. Unapproved animals will incur a $250 fee.

No open or concealed carry of firearms on the property.

Plumbing & Cleanup

Before you go, please:

-Do your dishes

Was nice but feel if they are going to have risqué item and Art it should be noted information about rental. My young grandson who lives in Marfa came to see us there and it was a problem !! Also the second bedroom bed (futon) was very bad to the point of being unsleepable!!
