Holualoa, Hawaii
As of April 1, 2020, our guesthouse is now only available as a long term rental (6 month/180 days or more).
Our guesthouse is nestled along the slopes of Mount Hualalai on our 40 acre ranch and coffee estate. Located above the historic and scenic Mamalahoa Highway and 2 miles from numerous art galleries in the quaint town of Holualoa. We are only a short drive away from Kailua town, beaches, shopping and resorts; yet surrounded by open space and tranquility. Enjoy the views of Mount Hualalai, the coastline and beautiful blue ocean from the spacious wrap around deck. The entrance to our guesthouse is at ground level, but the house itself is elevated above wooded pastures. Located at the 2200 foot elevation, you will enjoy the cool temperature and peaceful setting. Tour our coffee mill and savor a complimentary half pound bag of our 100% Kona Keopu Coffee. Peruse the art galleries in Holualoa town. Enjoy watching the wild turkeys, pheasants and birds, pet the horses in the pasture and lose yourself in star gazing at night. Beautiful, private and serene.

Wonderful place! Nice getaway from the busier Kona down below. The coffee they provided is excellent Kona coffee so we bought more at a good price. The owners and their son who runs the coffee operation are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
This was our first time using VRBO and we could not be happier. Beautiful location and great hosts. Would highly recommend this property.
It was a beautiful place to stay and we felt very welcomed. It felt like a private retreat after our long days enjoy the island.
The property sits high up on the mountain side. It is a quit, very peaceful place. The only things that you really hear are the birds. Turkey, and a myriad of other birds that I do not know the names for. Out the back of the house, the view through large plate glass windows is of tall trees through which the ocean is easy to see. Nights are cool and comfortable and during the day it is warm and pleasant.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Gillette's guest home. Though extremely difficult to find the first time in the dark, it is a extremely nice house with a view of the ocean, shoreline and sunsets. Being at around 2000' elevation, the temperature is a good 10° cooler than on the coast in Kona. That fact would be wonderful in summer but we were there at a unusually cool time and without any heat the house was pretty chilly in the mornings. As the ads said, the house is surrounded by the Gillette farm and coffee plantation. That means one will see cattle, horses, chickens, turkeys and lots of birds though one has to be able to sleep through the early morning rooster calls. Though the guests need to provide their own food, Nancy has provided more than enough spices and condiments to create tasty meals. A number of items were obviously left over from previous guests and we were happy to add to that stock when we left. Nancy also provided a starter supply of their own plantation's Kona coffee and her son, Isaac, will sell more of that at a very reasonable price. This property is about 15 minutes from the town of Kona and the associated beaches, restaurants and activities--an easy drive to whatever one wants to be part of in the community. We would highly recommend this guest house to anyone wanting to be away from the tourist crowds and relaxing in peace and quiet. Steve
The property was everything they said it would be and was awesome! The hosts were amazing would totally stay there again!!!!!
We stayed 5 nights and loved it. The cottage has all amenities and is very comfortable (although, oddly, there are no handles on the drawers or cabinet doors). Bring a sweatshirt/jacket for the cool evenings.
Loved the cows, chickens, turkey with babies, pigs, coqui frogs & the rainbow trees. Loved the shower. Much cooler & quieter than Alii Drive.
From the deck we saw turkeys, pheasants, wild boar, and bulls framed by a panoramic ocean view. The cottage was stylish and comfortable. The owners, Nancy and Greg, were pleasant and helpful and we enjoyed our stay and their coffee.
Nancy and Greg were lovely hosts with a most appealing Hawaiian cottage. We were hoping for peaceful and were thrilled to find it on this coffee farm in the hills. The cottage was clean and beautifully maintained. We could view the ocean from the deck, watch the cows in the pasture and listen to the birds and chickens; not to mention the sunrises and sunsets! Truly spectacular. Highly recommend this property and its hosts.
