Woodbine, Georgia
Our family homeplace will provide you a great vacation escape. Bring your boat and dock it on the beautiful, clean Satilla River. Swim in the heated pool or fish in the pond. You can even learn pickleball or play tennis on your own private court. Home sleeps ten--so it's the perfect place for a family gathering!
Woodbine is a small Southern coastal Georgia town within an easy drive to Brunswick, GA, St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and Amelia Island, FL to the south. There's a cafe uptown that serves lunch on weekdays, a local hangout called Captain Stan's that has pretty good food, and a grocery store to meet your needs. The big city of Jacksonville is 45 minutes away, and the airport there is even closer. The Okefenokee Swamp provides a fascinating view of raw nature (alligators!) and is only 45 minutes away in Charlton County.
This home is ideal for those who want peace and serenity with river access.
Our outdoors campfire area will prove fun on cooler evenings. Roast weenies and marshmallows, sit around the fire, and swap stories. Create memories at Cypress Point!

This was a clean and spacious rental (for the 2 of us) and suited our needs nicely. Joel even had a TV installed in the kitchen for me so I wouldn’t have to be so alone when cooking etc. as the kitchen isn’t open to the couch/big TV area. That area seats 4 on two electric loveseat recliners so if you have more people than that you’ll need to move some more chairs in, which are available. We had to cancel our reservation for next winter due to Covid-19 messing with timing of recovery from an elective surgery. Joel was always quickly responsive to our needs.
The lot and location on the water was beautiful. Unfortunately that was the best attribute. The home is extremely outdated in every aspect. Upon our arrival we had to open all the doors due to the overpowering smell of staleness and plumbing issues. There were 3 areas that smelled of rotten eggs every time you walked by. Kitchen, washer/dryer(in main walkway) and one of the showers. One other big issue was that for a 4 bedroom home, there were only 2 TVs. The one in the living room was in an odd position that only allowed two people strait on views to watch. The owner lives next door so kind of awkward when they come knocking on the door to say hello. Also, we brought two very small dogs and the owners had their larger dogs roaming around our rental the entire time. They barked at us and made us uncomfortable as well as our dogs so we just kept ours inside so there wasn't any issues. When you pay this much for a rental we expect some privacy and our own space. Sorry, not trying to be rude, just honest and renters should be well aware of these issues. We would not rent again.
Great house. Great property. Owner friendly and responsive.
Great home with lots of family activities. This was a very relaxing place and the location is beautiful. The weather was perfect for us in November, cool nights for the fireplace, sunny days for fishing, tennis and biking. Direct TV and internet for indoors. We also use the heated pool and ping pong table. Well maintained home and property. Beautiful mossy oak trees and loaded orange trees. Very nice place for large family.
We had a Ladies Retreat over the weekend and the place is perfect. We love the beauty everywhere we look. The beautiful home is better furnished than any place I've ever stayed. The owner is very, very accommodating and 2 of our Ladies appreciated having the golf cart to help them get around. Some of the Ladies enjoyed the heated swimming pool (in November!) This is our second time and hope to have many more wonderful times at this amazing get away! Thank you, Joel!
We really enjoyed the house and surrounding property. The host was very accommodating.
The home was very clean and with lots of space. We really had everything we needed for a great stay, including plenty of linens, kitchen gadgets, appliances, games, pool toys, etc. Our host Joel was very kind and welcoming. He established great communication right away and made sure we were comfortable. We would definitey return.
Joel was absolutely amazing! The house, the scenery, the comfort, and location were incomparable! Everything from the heated pool, tennis courts, golf cart, fishing pier, row boat, bean bag toss, ping pong table, the dogs and ALL the amenities set this place over the top! We highly recommend any and everyone to book a vacation!
This place is everything you want for a relaxing getaway. It was the perfect setting for our family’s long weekend. We had a great time using the golf cart to get to and from the dock where we spent quite a bit of time relaxing by the river. We also had a lot of fun using the tennis court. The house was very clean and comfortable and Joel was a gracious and welcoming host. My family and I will certainly plan a return trip to Cypress Point!
I just can't say enough about this property. If you are - truly - looking for something off the beaten path where you can enjoy the outdoors at every turn (and enjoy a little nostalgia - it was like walking into my grandmother's home), this place is for you. The homeowners are so incredibly generous in allowing renters to use the property's full amenities, from the screened in pool, golf cart (which besides being just fun, definitely comes in handy schlepping stuff back and forth from the dock), private (!) tennis courts, ping pong table, pond, boat dock... the list goes on and on. Also, the owner - Joel - was warm and inviting, but not intrusive whatsoever. In fact, if we hadn't sought him out, we probably wouldn't have known he lived in the home next door. He's the type of property owner that you want to hug when you leave - and I did just that. While we enjoyed many meals at the house thanks to the well equipped kitchen and huge dining table (accommodates 8 easily), it's a very short drive to Captain Stan's Smokehouse, which may be the most family friendly dive bar I've ever been in - and the food is solid, too. Do yourself a favor and order the boiled shrimp - and if you're a fan of collard greens and lima beans like this Mississippi girl, just pull the trigger and order the Soul Bowl. Everything is good - and the ambiance just adds to it. It's the kind of place full of people that allow you to pretend you're a local, even for just the night. Woodbine is a small, blackwater (NOT backwater) town with incredibly inviting residents who are proud of and knowledgeable about everything the area has to offer. You just have to be willing to strike up a conversation with a stranger - whom likely won't remain one for very long. And if this is any indication, on the drive home to Atlanta, we started planning our next TWO trips back to the Woodbine area - and we are very hopeful to be able to use Joel's home on at least one of those stays.
