The 2Br / 2 Bath cottage is very clean & provides all the modern amenities Including a automatic generator.
The 2nd Fl Master Suite w/ Loft has its own private bathroom & shower. The South / Southwest ocean breeze cools the cottage & the large ceiling fan circulates the ocean air throughout. Watch Bald Eagles & Osprey soar overhead from the elevated front deck. You may see fish jumping or seals swimming around the bay. It is a very Private location w/ No other homes visible. Hike, Bike, Kayak or Fish from the property or go to one of the beautiful parks like Reid State Park, which is minutes away. The Private Dock is a great place to start your adventure. It has a swim ladder that makes it very easy to get in & out.
We provide a canoe you can use to explore the bay & islands. There are two state owned uninhabited islands just in front of the cottage. Experience the unique 9 foot tide change we have in Maine. At Low tide when the water recedes….you see the bottom of the bay and at high tide you’ll have up to 9 feet of water at the dock.
Lobsters are available at Five Island wharf fresh from our fishing men/women or buy them at Plants seafood in Bath among other places. What would a vacation be without mans best friend We say bring him or her with you :) We allow dogs and cats of responsible pet owners. We hope you will come enjoy Maine in our peaceful cottage..
“ The Way Life should be”
This was our third stay at Marr Cottage and it was wonderful as always!
We had the best time during our week at this cottage. The location was perfect for us. It was secluded (there’s a house next to the cottage but you really don’t notice it). It was very relaxing, with unbelievably beautiful views from the property, the inside of the cottage, but especially the dock! We saw bald eagles, herons, and even a couple of seals! The house was so charming and VERY clean. The size was perfect for our family and dog. We were so grateful to find such a wonderful rental that allows us to bring our dog! Our three girls (ages 6, 7 and 9) were completely comfortable in the room on the main floor, with the two younger sharing the double bed and the oldest in the twin. The girls had a lot of fun using the basement area, playing darts, pool and watching TV on the large screen TV down there. We had so much fun using the fire pit and there was PLENTY of wood provided which was such a nice bonus! The girls thoroughly enjoyed jumping off the dock and swimming during high tide and it was so wild to see the differences between the high and low tide. Our dog was unfortunately not able to swim…she had an injury before coming and was not allowed to get wet ? but any dog would love it! We visited Five Islands for lobster (very close to the cottage), Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor and found lots of dog friendly things to do! The cottage was a great central location! The owners were very welcoming and available if we had questions. We loved this vacation!
We had a fantastic week at Marr Cottage! It was so clean, spacious, and private! A great place to spend a week. Our dog and young daughter loved the large yard… Kayaking from the shore at high tide was a highlight of the week. The location is beautiful and very private. Close to Reid State Park and Five Islands. We can’t wait to return! Thanks for a wonderful week!
Beautiful location with a wonderful view of the Kennebec River. It is very private and tranquil with many amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed this cottage.
Property well stock with cleaning supplies and towels. Beds were made and very comfortable. Excellent views of the water and the mesmerizing incoming and out going tides. Perfect location for surrounding things to do. Will definitely consider returning
The property itself is very beautiful, with cloud like beds and linens. The kitchen has all of the amenities to enjoy utilizing daily. A great barbecue. Two full bathrooms up and down. Spacious rooms, spacious everything. An amazing downstairs, filled with a pool table, darts, a huge screen TV. Comfy leather couch. The view. The view was amazing. Absolutely breathtaking. The property itself is set apart so you feel like you are private, even though there are neighbors, you don’t see their properties. There is a spacious lawn, beautiful green lawn, blue blue water, coming in and out with the Tide. Gorgeous Dock. A canoe to use, although we did not get a chance to do so. We were a little bit early in the season. But we did have a chance to put our feet in the water at one point off of the dock. The view is readily available from the kitchen, dining room, as well as the living room area, couch. There is a little bit of the view with some of the water, and woods, from the lower level bedroom-If you’re laying on the bigger of the two beds. I cannot even explain how much stress we’ve been under, a lot of family stuff, health issues, all kinds of stuff. This was absolutely the most relaxing place we’ve been in forever. Absolutely 100% the best!
Clean as a hotel but better in all other regards. We had a wonderfully peaceful stay at the cottage! There was a surprise (to us) pool table in the basement which topped things off.
The home was the perfect size for 4 of us. The kitchen had everything we needed and was good size for the overall size of the home. No complaints at all! We loved the time we spent both in the home and sitting around the fire pit, which was very well stocked with good dry firewood to use. Overall a really nice experience.
Beautiful Maine shoreline setting. Big yard for the pup. Access to water for kayaking or using the provided canoe. House layout is perfect for hosting guests. Pool and darts in the basement or firepit for evening fun. Very clean, well equipped kitchen with comfortable beds. What more could you want?
Property was very nice. The setting was tranquil, serene and as private as the listing and other reviews boasted. The 8 mile trek to get on and off the property was different but natives likely adjust. Jaana was professional, efficient and very accessible if needed.
Not our first visit to this property but it never disappoints. Beautiful location and the house has all of the comforts of home. We traveled with 2 kids under 2 and they had a great time as well. We will be back! Tom and Jaana are wonderful hosts.
This is a five star property.
Our family had an awesome vacation here- the week went by so fast! The dogs loved swimming in the bay! Reid State park is close and is a beautiful ocean beach. The owners were very responsive. The setting is absolutely gorgeous!
This was our second visit to Marr cottage and it was perfect. It was a warm week in Maine but the breeze off the water kept us and the cottage cool and comfortable. The location is great with proximity to Reid State Park and the shops and restaurants in Bath. We have already reserved our week for next year! Thank you Jaana and Tom for a lovely home away from home!
We loved our stay in Georgetown. The house was clean and convenient, the view was extraordinary. The house was just the right amount of secluded. the neighbors we ran across during walks were so friendly. dinner at Grey Haven and the Osprey were suprising delights, Reid State park is a gem and the proximity of Bath for a little shopping, groceries, and the Maritime Museum was just right. Our dog loved it too.
What a beautiful property! The view is breathtaking and the quietness of the island is very relaxing. The house is clean and updated . The yard is great for games like volleyball, bring your net! The pre-teens loved the dock (the dog did too) and sat there with their beach chairs watching the tidea and looking for crabs. We spent a lot of time in the yard in the evening . The owners are thoughtful and so welcoming . They are available to swing by if you need anything .
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cottage! Our 10-month Golden Retriever may have had the most fun of all – he won't jump off the dock or use the stairs, so it was really great to have multiple sloped, easy points of entry in and out of the water and a nice big lawn to run around on as well. We also used the canoe to explore the islands nearby – the highlight was canoeing right under a bald eagle's nest. We saw them flying around the property multiple times. Several games of pool in the basement while others watched the big screen TV was also a fun way to spend time. The house is in a great location, the view was postcard-worthy, the property was very clean, and communication with the owners was easy and prompt every time. Definitely recommend, and I would definitely stay here again!
lovely property well cared for. property manager owner made it known that she could be reached and responsive at any time although nothing was needed. very enjoyable spring week with near perfect weather.
