'Aargh House' - our cedar paradise
The ideal location of this home features both privacy and the convenience to all the island's amenities. Relax in the enclosure of oak, pine and palm, yet still be able bike or walk 3 short blocks to the grocery, restaurants and shops. When it's time for a swim, just slip out your backyard down your private path and shortcut toward the beach which is only a 3-minute walk away.
This uniquely designed, multi-level home is extremely spacious, with a large open living area featuring a hardwood floor, a dramatic vaulted ceiling, skylights, a 46'' HDTV with cable/Blu-ray and comfortable furniture, incl. queen sleeper. If you are cooking in the kitchen, you can still be part of the conversation and fun, as the kitchen is open to the living and dining area. Enjoy your meals indoors or out, as the tiled dining room opens onto a large 40' X 12' sun-drenched, partially covered deck equipped for ultimate relaxation and sun worshiping. If it gets too hot there, simply take a break and relax in the palm tree shaded hammock in the tree grove next to the bbq pit.
Up three steps from the living area are two spacious bedrooms (queen beds) with 32' HDTVs/DVDs and shared bathroom in the hallway. Up the flight of stairs is the light-filled master bedroom and bath. Have a glass of wine on your private deck with its view of the Gulf, then keep your sliding screened door open and let the sound of the ocean lull you to sleep.
The very private outdoor hot-and-cold shower is great after a day at the beach, or just for cooling off.
Make sure you bring Rover to this pet friendly home. He'll enjoy relaxing in his 10' x 10' covered outdoor pen after a run on the beach.
Only 8 miles away, Apalachicola is a great day trip. In 2008, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Apalachicola a Distinctive Destination: architecture, beautiful antebellum homes, a true working waterfront are some of the reasons for this award. Only 2 other Florida cities share this distinction, Key West and Fernandina Beach. Shop, eat, and tour this historic district of old Florida.

This is a large home with 3 nice bedrooms. There was lots of room to walk the dog in the yard and neighborhood streets. We loved the big deck off the living room. Short walk to the beach. Check in and out was easy.
We love this house! This was our second stay. The house is tucked in the trees and has three decks with both sun and shade at different times of the day. My canvases and paint brushes spent a lot of time out side. There are little surprises to find in the yard (I won’t ruin it for you. ) A short walk to the beach, breakfast, pizza, ice cream… The bike paths are nice, lots of places to ride. We love it!
My family loves SGI. We've been three times and our first opportunity staying at the Arrgh property. Everything in the description accurate. Love how the kitchen and family room opens as we like to cook most of our meals. My husband felt like it was his slice of paradise with the trees and garden for privacy. Can't wait come back. Frankfort, ky
This was our 6th time on SGI and this has been our favorite house! We could bring both our dogs, the location was very convenient, close to town and beach. The yard was awesome, private feeling with all the trees and landscaping. The house was even better than what I had anticipated, many skylights and windows with so much natural sunlight! I loved the multiple decks and outdoor seating to hang out outside. The kitchen was very well stocked. The owners were great communicators and easy to work with. Unfortunately for us our stay was cut short due to hurricane Idalia. We have already made plans to come back to Aargh House next year. Even with our short stay we feel blessed because we did have 2 great days at the beach and the hurricane ended up not hitting SGI directly! God is good!! In everything give thanks for this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus 1 Thessalonians 5:18
My third time here. Live it! Will be returning soon
The house was great! Plenty of sitting areas for great family time! House was spacious and kitchen had plenty of cookware, etc. we enjoyed our stay at the Aargh house!
Home was fantastic. Well equipped kitchen, nice space on the deck for eating, playing games at night. Love the upstairs bedroom with gulf views and the outdoor shower. Home is very private surrounded by trees and a walking path to the beach. Owners were communicative, easy to deal with, and even mailed some ear buds after we left. Great experience on all levels.
We couldn't have been happier with aargh house during our stay on St. George's Island. The house is comfortable and nicely decorated, the kitchen better appointed than any we've ever stayed at, great TV, and comfortable beds. The porches are wonderful, and the view of the gulf from the master bedroom is beautiful. The Host is terrific, and although we had no problems he mede contact to ensure we were comfortable and to please let him know if there were any issues at all. The walk to the beach is short and pleasant and although we had bad weather for most of our stay, the property more than made up for it. The one thing that may be an issue for some is that there are two fliights of stairs, one to get to the main lliving area, and one to get to the master bedroom, so if stairs are a problem for someone this would be a consideration. Having said that, this is a superb property with wonderful hosts, check it out!
This property is not beachfront, but beautifully set on a wooded /landscaped lot. Many outdoor seating places to suit all kinds of weather. A uniquely designed house, airy and spacious, and well equipped.
Tom was very easy to get a hold of. And super helpful. Tons of amenities. We liked having multiple spices on hand since we usually make our own meals on the island. Nice house. Great location. We liked staying bayside for a change. Not far at all to the beach (but anywhere on the island is an easy walk to beach).
The house was perfect for us. Great location. Close to beach restaurants and stores. Quiet peaceful place. We had a great time.
We were here over Christmas and a deep cold spell. The house is lovely and has lots of indoor and outdoor space. The back deck was warm even in the cold weather. I've never rented a house with such a well appointed kitchen!! The beds were super comfy. It's a lovely quiet neighborhood just a quick walk to the beach. Be warned, the stairs are VERY narrow and steep. A concern for older and younger folks and critters. Not a deal breaker but caution required. There is a baby gate to block off areas. Great place, Great host.
We loved the house and many family members who live in Tallahassee came to visit with us. Perfect place for our dog also.
We really enjoyed our stay. The beach, bay and shops were all conveniently close to the house. Check in was very easy and the owners were able to get us in by 2 pm. Would definitely stay again.
I loved the privacy of the Aargh House! The covered back deck was by far my favorite part of the house. We ate almost every meal out there! Communication with the owners was excellent!
We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. We were close to everything, but could sit on the porch and enjoy the peace and quiet. House had everything we needed for an enjoyable time.
We loved our stay! I doubt there are many better deals on the island and it was more than worth every penny! The house was great for our group and it felt luxurious to be so close to the center of town.
First time using Vrbo and renting a house at the beach. I found the process easy and fun. The Aargh house is off the beach. Easy to get to all the shops and restaurants.
We stayed an entire week enjoyed cooking breakfast, lunch & dinner. When it rained we sat on the back porch & enjoyed it!! Love SGI. I would rent this place again.
Communication with the host was easy with quick.l responses. The house had everything we needed and provided the backdrop for a quality family friendly vacation. Location was secluded but close enough to the beach to walk there as a family. We loved the board games available as well as the outdoor fun - horseshoes and putt putt. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time at Aargh House! It was a quick walk to the beach and very close to a boat ramp for our fishing excursions. The house was great; comfortable rooms, cold ac, and an awesome back deck that we spent a lot of time on! Highly recommended!!
My husband and I have been staying on the island for a few years now. We have done a few different houses and this is officially our favorite. The house was open and airy which was so welcoming. The amount of privacy the lot offers is honestly the best we have seen on the island. We were able to enjoy our days on the beach with the convenience of the shortcut through the grove of trees. Then we were able to come back at night and still play bags or ladder golf outdoors without fear of interrupting our neighbors. The kitchen was spacious and make cooking large meals for our group extremely easy. I was able to message with the host and they even dropped off some stuff to make our stay even better. Of course I also have to mention how cool the Captain Morgan statue in the backyard is. We got many pictures with him and enjoyed putting some golf balls around as well as playing horseshoes. A lovely home we would love to rent again!!! Thank You, The Thomas Family & Friends.
