Sunny comfort & charm, located in the village of Bucksport on a quiet, dead-end street. Surrounded by gardens blooming all summer and peaceful in the colder months. Private back deck with hot tub, small fenced in back yard!

One hour to Camden, Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island, & Acadia National Park, 30 minutes or less to Bangor, Belfast, Blue Hill, Castine, & Ellsworth. Lakes nearby for close water access, too!

Where you’ll stay: From the front door entry, enter into an open floor plan on the first floor, with dining room and a piano. New dining room table, with one leaf to expand, 4 new chairs, and bench seat. The piano bench or 4 folding chairs seat extra.

Just past the dining room, a kitchen includes a island with gas cook top, wall oven, large fridge/freezer with water dispenser (ice maker doesn't always work, ice trays provided), microwave, and dishwasher - with everything needed to cook a great meal (drip coffee maker, toaster, tea kettle, pots and pans, spices, etc).

One step down from the kitchen, the sun filled living room is bright and open, with cathedral ceilings, bluetooth stereo system, record player (with a surprisingly large collection of vintage country albums!), books for adults and kids, board games, and 50” Roku TV for streaming (no cable service). Entry to the back deck is from the living room.

2 smaller bedrooms on the first floor, each with a Double bed, share a small bathroom with shower stall - built in potty seat for small kiddos! One is more kid oriented, with a bean bag chair for lounging. Laundry and cleaning supplies located in mudroom off the kitchen.
UPSTAIRS: Primary bedroom with King bed, window A/C unit, electric desk for sitting or standing for remote work (great WiFi!), and en-suite bathroom with separate shower stall and soaking tub (jets do not function on this tub). Graco Pack and Play with bassinet, mattress, and sheets located in closet. The second large upstairs bedroom offers a Queen bed, window A/C unit, with sitting area (small Twin sofa bed best for children) and TV for streaming. All four bedrooms have their own closets and ceiling fans.

A/C located only in the living room (wall unit) and 2 upstairs bedrooms (window units). Radiant Floor heat on 1st and 2nd floor keeps the whole house cozy during chilly weather, plus the split level pump warms the living room.

Off the living room, enjoy the deck with privacy walls, propane grill, and built-in hot tub that seats 4-6 comfortably. A small fully fenced back yard space allows freedom for your pets or children to play. Past the fenced area is the veggie garden and open back yard which backs up to a wooded area. Cornhole game for the backyard, too! Even though we’re right in town, you’ll find lots of birds visiting - and may catch sight of the local Ospreys as they love fishing in the river and bay just down the hill. Look for their nest by the bridge as you're leaving Verona Island! We are a pollinator friendly property, and practice organic methods, with no use of pesticides or fertilizers. Because of this, with the gardens, bees and other bugs are common during warmer months.

Off street parking for 3-4 cars. If you don't feel like adventuring to other areas, Bucksport's Main street is a 15 minute walk away, where you can access the pretty Waterfront Walkway with views of Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. The Miles Lane trail system is also very close by for walking or trail running. A grocery store and pharmacy are close, as well as several restaurants and fast food places. Check out the local happenings - there are sometimes events happening in town, including movies at the sweet little Alamo Theater in town. The Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust's Wildlands in Orland offers trails for hiking and biking (10 minute drive). Our favorite swimming spot is the Craig Pond beach, 15 minutes away.

Garage and basement not for tenant use. There is one exterior camera located on the garage, pointed towards the driveway and not monitored during your stay.

For winter bookings - Ice, snow, and bad weather are a part of Maine winters, and sometimes last well into April and early May. We’re understanding if travel plans need to change due to storms. Being close to town, power outages do sometimes occur, but usually is restored quickly, although it isn’t always the case. We will leave a couple snow shovels for your use as well as salted sand. We keep up on shoveling the driveway and walkways, but ice is a part of coastal Maine during the winter and we may not be able to have someone available DURING a storm to shovel. Being close to the main road (which is well maintained), it’s not hard to get a car out of the driveway, but if we get a lot of snow you may need to shovel a bit! We stayed at this lovely home in Bucksport the weekend before Thanksgiving. The rooms are all comfortable and nicely decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The kitchen was perfectly appointed for us to prepare an early Thanksgiving meal for our family in the area. We were very grateful that the owners are so accomodating of pets. We were travelling with our dog and the layout of the home and other thoughtful gestures (pet covers for the furniture, dog waste bags if needed) really helped us (and him) to relax. The location is perfect, just outside of Buckport town center, 35 minutes from Acadia, and an easy drive to lots of beautiful locations along the coast. So many amenities that we didn't even use, including the hot tub, piano, turntable and album collection. Just an all-around excellent property and wonderful experience. We are highly likely to reserve again the next time we come up to Bucksport to visit family.

This house was immaculate. The kitchen had all the supplies you need. The art and books on the property were wonderful. We enjoyed the jacuzzi very much . It has a fenced-in yard for dogs. A chipmunk teased our dog hilariously. It was an excellent base for exploring Acadia, and lots of great hikes were nearby.

This home made our visit to Maine relaxing, enjoyable, and welcoming. We immediately felt comfortable because of the cozy furnishings, conveniences that were provided and other amenities the home had to offer. The environment was perfect for our two young granddaughters as they were able to spread out and play without being confined in a small hotel room. We didn't have time to take advantage of the hot tub, but I'm sure that experience would have been very pleasant! It was very easy to find and access the home. We HIGHLY recommend this property. We have encouraged family members to consider staying here on their next visit as family lives nearby. Thank you to the owners for their generosity and providing us a safe and delightful space!

I've stayed at a lot of places (and have rented my own) and this is one of the finest. Clean, well-appointed and obviously loved by the owners. I can't recommend highly enough.

This is the most amazing home. We had the best experience. The home is warm, cozy, whimsical, clean, well equipped. This home is very close to the downtown area. We had excellent communication with the owners. Messages were responded to immediately. They were flexible, kind and generous. I can’t say enough of how wonderful this home is and our experience.

We had a great weekend away from our busy lives in New York, to visit family in Maine! The home was a great space to relax after long days of exploring! Very close to anything and everything you would need! Clean and cozy! The view of the stars from in the hot tub were just breath taking! We would love to come back in the future with my in-laws !!

I do not even know where to start on this. We have rented somewhere over 20 properties over the last 5 years for trips, and none of them come close to this house. This is single handedly the most thought out house ever on all of vbro. It is absolutely amazing. Nikki is great with responding. D

This is a comfortable and fun home with a nice, fenced backyard and beautiful gardens. Blue Hill, Castine, Deer Isle snd Bar Harbor are all within easy reach, making this a superb location. The hosts were responsive and friendly. This was also the best decorated vacation home I’ve ever rented. Overall it was a very positive experience.
