Stayed Oct 10, 2025You really can't go wrong with this option. The house is fully equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Communication with Robert was excellent—he was responsive and helpful throughout. The location is great. We visited during the off-season, which made parking near the beach easy. As others have mentioned, it's possible to walk from the house to the public beach, although only one route has sidewalks.Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The price is fair, and the house offers great amenities. The basement is a fantastic space for quality family time. While the house may appear a bit dated, it's in excellent condition and well-maintained.

Stayed Aug 25, 2025Interior is casual beach vibe (a bit dated) but all amenities needed for a family get away to nearby beaches.

Stayed Jul 17, 2020The house easily lived up to expectations. We especially enjoyed the evenings sitting out on the deck where we saw deer, red tailed hawks, and many friendly people out walking their dogs. It was a nice neighborhood for walking. The interior was comfortable and well maintained.

Stayed Jul 3, 2020The house is much nicer than pictured - roomy and light in the LR, DR, kitchen and bathroom. Very comfortable to hang out in. . It is well-stocked and the kitchen was nice to cook in- especially given we cooked in much more than normal. There is a big family room downstairs with a pool table. It is 3–4 blocks to the lake. Easy for adults. I would stay there again if we returned to the enjoyably.

Stayed Aug 11, 2019Bob’s home is lovely and has plenty of larger, comfy beds for you and your guests. The basement is amazing for kids and for just spreading out. The property was meticulously cleaned before we arrived. Ample toilet paper, paper towel and anything else you don’t want to worry about. My kids complained about the walk to the beach; it did seem like a hike with all the stuff, but I enjoyed the exercise and it really wasn’t bad. Overall, not a super beachy neighborhood, but close enough.

Stayed Jul 30, 2019This is an affordable, spacious property. It is good for families that need to space and home amenities (kitchen, washer/dryer, etc.) It had all of the basics - plates, cups, cooking utensils, towels, etc. There were actually 4 bedrooms (one in the basement). The finished basement is spacious and has a pool table. Areas that were not ideal - the home had a musty/unpleasant smell around the entrance and bedrooms, many of the home items are well-loved and could use updating (threadbare sheets in master, kitchen chairs with wobbly legs tied together, older TV, furniture, decorations, etc.). In the listing, the beach seemed to be closer than it was - it is really like a 10 min walk on streets to get to Sheridan Beach (unless there is another secret way we were not aware of - there were no instructions). There is a beach shuttle with a stop near the property if you can coordinate to use this - it is more ideal than walking, especially if you have kids. There is not very much walkable from the property if that is something that is important to you. Communication with the property owner needs to be on phone, emails were not responded to. He did answer the phone when called. Opportunities that would be helpful that we've experienced at other VRBO properties - it would be helpful if there was a binder that had local information, how to get to the beach, local restaurants, etc. Also, since it is near a beach, having beach chairs, toys, umbrella, etc. would improve the usability of the property with families. Tips: We were able to have groceries delivered to the house with Shipt, this was really great! They got there when we arrived. We tried the new local Jamaican restaurant - it was great but is cooked to order (slow) and is very spicy. Other restaurants my family loved - Bentwood Tavern and (New Buffalo) - great food and kids menu. Sat on the deck and watched the boats. Sophia House of Pancakes - delicious breakfast and very big portions (share). Oinks ice cream - visited a few times to try different flavors (cash only, busy). Other activities and day trips they loved: we visited the local miniature horse farm, Washington park zoo, Sheridan beach, warren dunes, kayaking in new buffalo on papaw river, exploring St. Joes and beach. Nice area and lots to do.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a very nice stay in Michigan City. The house was exactly as described. It was nice to enjoy a new cooling system....never needed to go below 75degrees. We used the table on the deck and enjoyed a few deer sightings. The lake front was a pleasant walk with only one significant dune to climb. A few times we needed to carry the 3 year old . The house had a few toys which we enjoyed but no kids games....several good ones for adults. We discovered several nice parks , an excellent coffee shop and the Outlet Mall. There is a nice smart TV upstairs. There is internet service (very slow) and a larger screen TV plus movies downstairs. All in all, we were very satisfied.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I can't say enough nice things about Bob and Sue's Beach house! There was PLENTY of room for my family of 5, plus room for my mom to stay with us, too. The pool table was a real hit, and the nearby beach was FAB!!! The house provided ALL of the necessities and some things you might not think of (including a blender, cheese cutter, plenty of pitchers, an ice maker, books and games, a toddler bed, etc.). The property was in great shape: clean, well-kept, in a nice area. Bob was wonderful to work with and got back to us with all of the information we needed - and great directions to the house. I would totally recommend renting here. Absolutely. 100%! We would LOVE to come back again!
