Peaceful, Low Toxin Haven

Welcome to your dream rental: a three bedroom, two bathroom beauty in quiet, scenic Athens designed to maintain natural beauty and a feeling of spaciousness. A great option for families or larger groups, your rental is designed to help you relax and destress so you leave a happier, healthier you. It is comfortably furnished with all the essentials you will need, chosen with an eye toward healthy, toxin-free living.
Each bed has luxuriously smooth and environmentally friendly Tencel sheetsets, which make it easy to rest up for your next day of adventure (or just more rest!). Two bedrooms have queen beds; the master bedroom with a canopy. There is minimal light pollution nearby, but if you find you sleep deeper in pitch black, the other bedroom has an adjustable king with two layers of blackout curtains. We chose these beds to be both comfortable and low toxin, giving your body a break from the pollutants in most furniture and bedding.
Foodies, rejoice: the kitchen features an island countertop; stainless steel appliances; generous cupboard space; and non-toxic, non-stick cookware to help you create your own delicacies using the local bounty. You can also microwave popcorn/leftovers and relax watching a movie or your latest binge on the big screen, smart Roku TV—which supports all your subscription services—while you sip a beverage from your coffee bar. The stone fireplace affords the option of a cozy fire which can help you warm up after a day on the slopes. If you are in the mood for interactive family time, we provide several multi-player games or if you just want to read in bed, we have a diverse bookshelf.
There is ample furniture throughout the house, much of which is natural wood or marble to further minimize toxins. There is a standing desk if you are looking to do work while you are here. This all, combined with the beautiful, laminated wood flooring that covers all but one room, helps to create an attractive, low-allergy environment.
In the backyard you will find an outdoor sectional couch, hammock, and gas firepit—perfect for roasting s’mores while staring at a clear night sky. Wifi reaches outside. Your oasis extends beyond the backyard, too, as your rental has an ideal location inside the Sleepy Hollow Lake community. You will have access to all community amenities such as a lake, swimming pools (May-Sep), tennis court, playgrounds, pickleball, basketball court, baseball field, and golf driving range. We will provide full details on parking, community rules, and other considerations if you make a reservation. We recently added a level 2 EV car charger to the side of the house that you are welcome to use for no additional charge.
The house is about a 10 minute drive from the villages of Athens and Coxsackie. Both feature a park right on the Hudson River as well as shops and restaurants. Just 15 minutes away you can find the village of Catskill, which has a main street lined with a wide variety of quirky and interesting shops and restaurants. These small towns offer a respite from the hectic, impersonal life of bigger towns where you can see a concert in the park, a festival, or hang out with local artisans.
Across the river you will find the village of Hudson, a hip up-and-coming town reminiscent of Brooklyn, where you can antique, visit trendy stores, and enjoy innovative eateries (fermented ice cream and sourdough pizza!) You will be close to skiing, hiking trails, museums, theaters, parks, and historic sites. We are about a 30 minute drive to Albany and near the Metro North line (in Hudson), which can take you to further destinations like NYC or Buffalo.
