Close to beach. Great location! House was very unique, cozy and suitable for our one night stay. Probably wouldn't stay longer. The front door was broken. Windows do not open. Very cute all in all, but not what i was expecting when i saw 5 star reviews. I'd give it a 3.

We liked being downtown and within walking distance of the beach. The house is old but charming, plenty of room and a nice large porch. It did have sloped floors and step ups into a few rooms (can be dangerous at night) but we got used to it. Did not like that there were no shades in any rooms except bedrooms. Every window and door could have used a roller shade, bathroom included. It is nice to kick back in privacy after dark, and it felt quite exposed. We also like to cook and the kitchen lighting was not adequate. (Cheap LED under cabinet lights do wonders) A comment on the local businesses......we prefer to order out in this age of Covid, but we could not find a place to order by phone, and the establishments were packed full of unmasked patrons. So we ended up cooking all our meals, instead of pumping $$ into the local economy as we would have preferred. But all in all a nice time, lovely area, nice people. I would recommend it with reservations (no pun intended).

The place and location were great. My friends and I enjoyed the time we had exploring the local areas and visiting pictured rocks. But unfortunately when it was time to check out, we were already out of the house and I don’t know if it was the host or cleaners. I just wanted to take one last photo of the group for memories, and as we were taking the photo outside on the porch two individuals approached us and rudely stated that “it’s time for you guys to get out of here”. We told them we were sorry we just wanted to take a photo before we left, and they ignored us and walked away. Me and my group were pretty upset considering we were already out of the house and packed our cars just wanting to take one last photo before leaving. The two individuals didn’t even tell us who they were, after they said that to us they just walked away and grabbed cleaning supplies to walk inside the house. Just very unprofessional and uncalled for. The photo on the bottom is the one I’m referring to.

We were in town for a family memorial service. We enjoyed our stay at Paul’s Place very much. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was really convenient to town, the beach, and restaurants! Thank you.

The house is cute and clean, but a couple of things made it not comfortable. I was very uncomfortable with windows with views into sleeping areas not covered. I did not sleep in the same room as my husband because that creeped me out. There were 3 of us staying there and we each took a shower at different times of the day and all 3 of us ran out of hot water before we were done with our showers. I personally would not stay here again without the above issues being addressed.

Perfectly located for everything in Grand Marais and Pictured Rocks. Walking distance to restaurants and the Lake Superior beaches. Perfect refuge for our family of 5 during our UP roadtrip. Would return 100%

While we had some issues with the hot water, the house was very nice - well appointed, located within walking distance of everything. (If you tend to be a little more private, bring something to cover a few curtain-less windows. That & the hot water are the reasons for less than a five star review.) All in all we had a great time though & would return in a heart beat!

The location could not have been better. Easy walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Cute, well-cared for home. If anything, I would have preferred mattress and pillow upgrades.

Two unmarked trip hazards flooring. Electrical seems out of code. Washing machine drains in washtub which is slow to drain. I was afraid it would overflow. It didn't buti had a small load. I paid 100 cleaning fee for two days and two people and was asked to start laundry, put trash in the outside garbage and wash all dishes etx. I used two glasses.and a spoon. Felt like we were being penalized for groups who leave a huge mess. We didn't. It was clean, nice location. We liked the coffee shop around the corner and Lake Superior Brewing. Do not recommend this place, I am sad to say.

This cottage was absolutely perfect for my husband and me. It is so convenient - easy walking distance from the beach and the stores. We were able to go Yooperlite hunting until the wee hours of the morning, then make the short walk back to a warm, comfortable bed. We also really enjoyed relaxing on the porch in the evenings after a day of hiking around Sable Falls. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Location was great. We could walk to the beach (one sandy one and one more for rock collecting). We even used firewood and lit a fire on the beach! Easy walk to get dinner/lunch/snacks. The house was clean-bathroom was nice. The house is clearly quite old as the floors are not level and you feel a little tipsy walking around even when you haven't had anything to drink. It was quite warm and humid during our stay. The windows are very old and don't have screens so we were unable to open any windows except the front door and the windows in one bedroom. It was very warm in the sleeping area by the bathroom (days temps in the 80's) and there really wasn't anyway to cool it down for sleeping. We could hear critters running through the ceiling at night-didn't see any in the house or have any evidence of them in the house, but certainly could hear them. There is a porch in the backyard that was a wonderful place to gather and chat about the day/makes plans for the next day.

Property manager almost impossible to contact. Googled the address of Lake Superior Vacation Rentals and found it was a local motel, so called there. The clerks were very helpful and once Leslie called me back prior to arriving and resolved my issue. Upon arriving we discovered there were no clothes bars in the sleeping areas. Just one tiny one in the coat closet across from the front door. This place advertises up to 8 guests and there was this one tiny bar available. We were 4 adults. Safety is an issue with this property as well. There are no grab bars to assist in getting in our out of the tub. The tub floor is very sippery with no safety strips. The floors going down the hall and in the bedroom with 2 double beds wanders off level and when it changes height in the hallway there's no indication! No warning colored tape and since you're going a little downhill, it's even worse. No night lights for finding your way during the night. No mirrors except in the bathroom. One over the kitchen sink would reflect light in that darker area and provide a dressing area to take the load off the one and only bathroom. Several towels and washclothes are getting old looking. The TV works great! The furnishings are pretty old and shabby, but clean. The location is perfect, but we expected the above items to be a standard part of any short term rental.

This house is located in downtown Grand Marais, one block from all the shopping and restaurants, walking distance to the lake. Everything was VERY clean!! In fact, it was immaculate. That's so important. Hats off to your cleaning team!
