Like something from a movie set, the views from our lake house getaway are simply spectacular. Perfect for 1 to 3 families, you’ll find our home has been lovingly curated to provide a peaceful and relaxing experience in scenic western North Carolina.

LIVING SPACES

The two-story living room with a dramatic stone fireplace is the heart of the home. Dressed with buttery-soft leather furnishings, this is the perfect family gathering place. Whether it’s to curl up with abook, stream a favorite show or movie on the TV above the fireplace, or simply sit around and talk, this spot will undoubtedly hold a lot of precious memories.

The basement holds a second living room. A colorful area rug sits atop hardwood floors, forming a cozy conversation area around a plush sofa, loveseat, and coffee table. A daybed sits against the wall, perfect for an afternoon nap or additional sleeping space.

KITCHEN AND DINING

The spacious kitchen is flooded with natural sunlight. Here, the family chef will be surrounded by modern appliances and fixtures, making it a pleasure to create the family’s favorite meals. Features here include stainless steel appliances, a farmhouse sink, and a unique tiled backsplash. The generous center island with on-point pendant lighting seats 4.

The entire family can savor home cooked meals together in the adjacent dining room at the large round table.

BEDROOMS AND BATHS

With bedrooms on three levels, everyone is sure to find their ideal place!

Up in the open loft, we’ve outfitted this area with a double bed and a futon for reading, relaxing, or additional sleeping space. The private bath offers a walk-in shower.

The first of two primary suites is located on the main floor, with a king bed and ensuite bath featuring a tub/shower.

The second primary suite is on the basement level, and offers a queen bed and private ensuite bath with tub/shower.

Also in the basement is the bunk room, featuring two double-over-double bunk beds, with access to a full bath with a walk-in shower.

To make bedtime easier for our youngest guests (and their parents), we also provide a pack n’ play.

Feel free to pack light! The house is equipped with a washer and dryer.

OUTDOOR AMENITIES

It’s hard to do it proper justice.

Sitting directly on Lake Santeetlah, you’ll want to simply sit and drink in the views of the water with the mountain backdrop.

Our outdoor living rooms come equipped with both generous living and dining spaces, where you may, understandably, choose to spend the majority of your time. Upstairs, we also provide plenty of rocking chairs, as well as a wood-burning fireplace.

In the mornings, it’s the perfect spot to sip on a cup of coffee as the sun comes up. In the evenings, enjoy a cocktail or an Irish coffee in front of a crackling fire, as you listen to the sounds of nature.

The lake is available for your use and enjoyment. Please don’t forget to ask us about kayaks and paddleboards.

Please note: No smoking or vaping. No pets. No parties or events. Not suitable for wheelchairs.

What's Nearby

Our home is located in a small county in western North Carolina. Life is lived at a slower pace here, and we hope you’ll relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Life is all about the outdoors! In addition to Lake Santeetlah, some of the other activities you may enjoy include the Tsali trails for mountain biking, hiking in Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest or the Great Smoky Mountains, kayaking the Cheoah River, or fishing for native trout in Big Snowbird Creek.

Our adventurous guests will love being just 15 miles from the famous “Tail of the Dragon” - a thrill-packed ride of 381 turns in the road in just 11 miles.

The Cherohala Skyway is also just minutes away and offers stunning views and many opportunities for hiking and picnicking.

The place was awesome except the fish, they were not biting at all.... I guess that is why they call it fishing and not catching. The house was immaculate, with small details everywhere. Beds were comfortable, layout was functional, what more is there to say. The location was even better, it is central to everything between Georgia and Tennessee. In this area of the mountains, everything is a drive. If you want to go to gettysburg, 1 hr 40 min, go south to helen ga, 1 hr 40 min, dry falls waterfall, 1 hr 40 min. etc. The dragons tail is closer. All in all would highly recommend.

The house is absolutely gorgeous! It is spacious, the back porch is amazing, our group of eight was completely comfortable; we ate several meals at the outdoor table. The only thing I would change is the water pressure. We had to time showers and even then the water pressure was low and inconsistent. Doing the dishes, brushing our teeth, and even going to the bathroom impacted the water pressure.

It was a great lake house, perfect views, easy access for vehicles, easy to get in the water, no long staircases to deal with for the lake. Tons of interior space for all, room to spread out. Kitchen stock/inventory was great for cooking/meals. Life jackets were a bonus for swimming, and no major issues that affected our stay.

The home was beautiful and very clean. Had everything you would need to cook and prepare food. For coffee lovers there was only a Keurig coffee maker. It was well stocked. There were spices, oil, ziplocks and really most everything needed. The house is great for large families. Felt like staying at a resort.

We loved this place! There was a group of 12 of us that stayed here. The cabin is beautiful - the back deck is huge with nice outdoor furniture and a fire place, the lake is literally outside the back door with a floating dock! It’s about a 15 minute drive to Topoco Lodge and 18-19 minutes from Tail of the Dragon which was nice - it is hard to find a place stay that close for this large of a group. Bill was very nice and the communication was easy/fast! 100% would recommend staying here - I know that we will definitely be staying here again!

What a vacation! This home was wonderful! From the views, to how well stocked the kitchen was, to the dock, and more! We could not stop talking about how wonderful it was and will definitely book again! Thanks so much!

Beautiful property…with a deck you’ll never want to leave! Kitchen well equipped, though without a regular coffee pot (they had Kuerig pods, but no decaf). This wasn’t a huge deal, but could have brought one. That deck was made for coffee drinking in the morning. The kitchen was stocked with a lot of spices and had plenty of Saran Wrap, aluminum foil, etc. At this time of year the lake was very quiet, which was nice. Seems there was a road rally of sorts going on so the road was noisy at times. Will definitely be back to this beautiful location and home. Great and responsive hosts!!

Arriving late at night, we couldn't tell the extent of how beautiful the property was until the sun rose the next day. The home was beautiful as the pictures depicted it to be, and had all the amenities that we could use to spend the week there. The property being on the lake was a great added bonus, with additional paddleboards and kayaks to use with their own private little dock. This place is a great base for those exploring the local area, as my group did. As car people, we drove to Tail of the Dragon multiple times seeing how close it was to this property. It was also a short drive downtown to Robbinsville. We cooked a lot of our meals, and loved how stocked the kitchen appliances and cookware there were to use. The home felt homey and everyone had a great time staying at this location. The only downside was that the driveway leading down to the garage and house was a lot steeper than depicted on the photos, and our lower cars had trouble getting down. From the photos, it looked like a more gradual decline. Besides from that, we had zero issues. The internet was a little spotty at first but we were able to resolve it by resetting the router. Thank you Bill for having us. I would love to come back to this house for future years in the area.

Exceptional place to stay on Lake Santeetlah! Bill & Katie are excellent hosts, the house is gorgeous & well-appointed. Wonderful and huge deck overlooking the lake was a great spot for breakfasts & dinners as well as evening relaxing, the dock is huge (plenty of space for all the water toys) and the jet ski ramps are quite convenient. Plenty of space inside, everything is modern & works, extra fridge in the garage + EV charger are both great bonuses. We’ve been staying on Santeetlah each summer since 2013 and Green Gables is one of the best!
