This lovely 1904 Folk Victorian home is a favorite of families (kids aged 10+) and weekenders. You’ll find convivial spaces, solid wood furniture, and bright common areas with plenty of windows. Stroll to town and two beaches, or fill your day with plans and change them at a moment’s notice. The central location on the Monterey Peninsula is perfect for all things Pacific Grove, Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach, and Big Sur. The owner-host inspects the house personally prior to everyguest.

# The House and Living Space
Built by William Willis in 1904, this historical home has been remodeled from floor to ceiling. You'll find inviting human-scaled rooms and common areas. The kitchen has a gas range, engineered stone countertops, and a separate dining area. The bedrooms at the rear of the house, away from the street, are quiet and have blackout curtains, comfortable furnishings, and firm, high-end mattresses. The master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has two twin XL beds (which are the same length as a queen bed).

# Private Parking and Entrance
Park in the private driveway on the side of the house. Enter through the side door by using your keypad access code, provided before check-in (no key is needed). If you arrive after dark, then a motion-sensor light will illuminate the driveway and side door as you pull in. Switches for the house's interior lights are just inside the side door.

# Guest Safety
The detached cottage next door has a video doorbell.

# Getting Around
The house's central location is perfect for all things Pacific Grove, Monterey, Carmel, and Pebble Beach. You can fill your day with plans and change them at a moment's notice. Our guests arrive by car, yet many walk or bike for all or most of their stay. Both downtown Pacific Grove and the ocean are a short stroll away. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a 1.7-mile coastal walk or bike ride, the Pebble Beach gate is a 1-mile bike ride, and Carmel Beach is a moderately hilly 8-mile bike ride. The Pacific Grove portion of the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail has separate paths for walkers and cyclists and offers miles of spectacular views of the ocean and rugged coastline. Longer trips (Point Lobos, Big Sur, Carmel Valley) typically require a car.

# House Rules
AGE 35+ TO BOOK. You must be age 35 or older to book this house.

NO THIRD-PARTY BOOKINGS. As the responsible party, you can't book someone else's stay. You must be an overnight guest during the entire stay, from check-in to checkout.

FOUR OCCUPANTS MAX. No more than four guests are allowed in the house, without exception.

KIDS AGED 10+ ONLY. Every guest must be of the age 10 or older. The house has features that are unsuitable for young children.

NO PETS OR ASSISTANCE ANIMALS. Expedia Group has granted this property a health-based exemption from its service animal policy, owing to the medical risks that animals pose to the owner's family. No pets, emotional support animals, or service animals are allowed in the house or on the property; if you're traveling with any animal, then instead book one of the many pet-friendly rentals in the area. More details are below.

QUIET HOURS. Quiet hours are between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM by town ordinance. No interior noise (human or device) can be audible to neighbors during quiet hours.

CHECK-IN. Keyless self check-in is between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM, using the provided keypad access code. Request early check-in in advance.

CHECKOUT. Check out by 10:00 AM. Request late checkout in advance.

PARKING. When you arrive, park in the driveway. The driveway is to the right as you face the front of the house. If you have a second vehicle, then park it in tandem in the driveway or on the street in front of the house or yard.

TWO VEHICLES MAX. Guests are limited to two vehicles by town ordinance.

NO OVERSIZED VEHICLES. The driveway cannot hold recreational vehicles (RVs) or tow trailers, nor can they be parked in front of the house. Local laws prohibit parking oversized vehicles on any public street between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

NO EV CHARGING. The house lacks amperage for charging electric vehicles (doing so on a shared outlet can trip circuit breakers). The nearest Level 3 chargers are two minutes away at 207 16th St, Pacific Grove (City Parking Lot 2). Tesla Superchargers are four minutes away at 200 Country Club Gate Center, Pacific Grove.

NO PARTIES OR EVENTS. No parties, events, or gatherings of more than four people (only checked-in guests) are allowed.

NO VISITORS. No visitors, third parties, or service providers (chefs, masseuses, etc.) are allowed in the house or on the property at any time. A visitor is anyone who is not a checked-in guest.

NO GUEST-SWAPPING. Only the original checked-in guests are allowed in the house. If a guest checks out early, then another person cannot take his or her place.

NO SMOKING, VAPING, OR MEDICINAL MARIJUANA. A violation cancels your rental agreement immediately without refund. Federal law, which supersedes California law, does not recognize or protect medicinal marijuana possession or use.

COOKING RESTRICTIONS. You can prepare meals in the kitchen. Out of consideration for the next guests, you can't use ingredients that leave strong or lingering odors, including fish, seafood, curry, fermented foods, non-neutral oils, aromatic spices and pastes, chilies, and boldly scented vegetables. Oil-based cooking and deep frying are prohibited. For such meals, you're welcome to order restaurant delivery or takeout. A violation forfeits part or all of your deposit for cleaning.

PLUMBING AND DRAINS. Never flush wipes (even so-called flushable wipes) or anything other than toilet paper. Wipes = clogged pipes = plumber. The kitchen sink lacks a garbage disposal. Throw coffee grounds, fruit rinds, and food scraps in the trash. Don’t pour cooking oil, grease, pan drippings, salad dressings, or sauces down any drain.

NO INCOMING DELIVERIES. Any items delivered directly to the property will be refused and returned to the sender. Instead, take delivery via US Postal Service General Delivery, or at a local UPS Store, FedEx Office, Amazon Hub, or mailbox service.

HOST'S AREAS. Not available for your use are the host's personal and storage areas (attic and locked office). Don't access or enter them. The detached cottage next to the house is the host’s personal space.

NO ANIMALS. Expedia Group has granted this property a health-based exemption from its service animal policy. No pets or assistance animals, including emotional support animals and service animals, are allowed in the house or on the property, owing to the medical risks that they pose to the owner and his family members, who suffer from allergic asthma triggered by animal dander, fur, and saliva. This property includes shared space, so federal law permits excluding all animals as health and safety hazards; the ADA does not overrule legitimate safety requirements. If you bring or check in with an animal, then an Animal Control officer will be summoned to remove it to a public animal shelter as a health and safety hazard. An animal entering the house cancels your rental agreement immediately with no refund of rents or deposits. An animal cannot stay in a vehicle parked on the property. Falsely claiming that your animal is an ADA-compliant service dog is unlawful. California law (§365.7) forbids such verbal or written fraud, and a fake service dog is trivially easy to identify by the behavior of the animal and its handler. Do not risk a ruined vacation without refund or recourse; instead, book one of the many pet-friendly rentals in the area.

    My husband and me stayed here for 3 nights while visiting the area. We loved how convenient, clean, efficient and comfortable it was. It was exactly as advertised, which is not always the case with online listings! Chris took care to keep the property in good condition with thoughtful and practical touches.     Loved this house! Neat, tidy, great local aesthetic without being too “cute.” Chris was friendly and informative and the property was lovely. Not a super short walk, but a very easy one, to dinner and shopping.

    This is a cute house and comfy for a couple and two other teens or adults. Easy parking on a quiet street, easy check in/out and nice amenities. A few block walk to the adorable town with - again - cute coffee shops, restaurants, etc. This was our jumping off point to touring and the 17 mile drive, among other stops, so we weren't at the property much. (If staying longer, we'd probably need a little outdoor space or a bit more room.) Owner was extremely gracious with special treats and advice for touring, and should take great pride in an extremely well maintained home!
