Outer Banks Ocean-Side Vacation Home

Our stay was great. Close to the beach, lots to do at the house while we waited out Hurricane Erin. House was clean, cool and we all had a great time, all 13 of us. Would book again in a heartbeat.

Just as advertised, this was a beautiful home and we had a wonderful time there! We had excellent communication with the renters. Would recommend to anyone!

Greg is an excellent, communicative host who posts an honest, accurate description of a well-equipped, older property. Extras abound: ceiling fans and TVs everywhere, plenty of bathrooms, two private decks w/1 gas grill, a sheltered hot tub, a comfy game room, an outdoor shower foot shower, lots of towels and beach chairs, plenty of dinnerware, a great location very near free tennis/ paddle ball, groceries, and ice cream, and a small bowl of chocolates awaiting your arrival. You can tell this is one of the original Outer Banks properties--not an upscale mansion with bright colors and wall hangings--and his cleaning crew could do better, though some of you won't notice. Free parking easily fits 5 vehicles. The beach walk is a few minutes, with good waves and not a particularly large crowd well north of the Duck bottleneck. In all, Greg provided a fun stay in line with his own description.

Excellent location just steps from the beach. Awesome that all linens, towels and beach towels were included.

The proximity and ease of access to the beach is great. The view of the dunes and ocean was magnificent. Sitting on the outer decks was very relaxing. The house is older and has some quirks with some wear and tear but nothing that hampered and dampened our stay. Any questions or problems were immediately answered or attended to. The stay was great. Property had just about everything we needed. Kitchen was well equipped but wish there had been a large stock pot to make a low country boil. Had a great time building memories with my family. House was only four houses from beach which made it very easy to take everything we needed to the beach. Hope to make it back there again!

I try to choose my beach rentals carefully for safe, easy beach access. Doghouse was super convenient- just a few steps over the dunes to the beach. What I was totally surprised by was (1) the lifeguard stand was located there - there aren’t many lifeguards in the area - great assurance with all family members constantly in the water (2) the back of the house faces open dunes - no neighbors to block a beautiful view of dunes and horizon ocean - lovely birdsong and breezes (3) a second refrigerator on ground floor! Yay! LOTS of food & beverage space Three generations of my family all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Doghouse! Our host was wonderful. He quickly responded when we had a tv question.

This is our second stay at the Doghouse and it did not disappoint. You can not find a better owner to communicate with. Greg is always very accommodating and caring , his responses are also very timely. The house was very clean with clear instructions. You cannot get a better location! Definitely our go to when traveling with a large group! My favorite is the view from the deck and also private toilets for each bedroom with a Jack and Jill shower.

Older Home in Section F. Loved the 5 Bedrooms and the Jack n Jill bathrooms. Upstairs bedroom with bath very private. Loved the kids room on the top floor.

The property was close to beach. Owner was very reachable and helped with any issues we had. Inside does need to be updated.
