I can’t say enough good things about this property. I have stayed in many rental homes in travel for business regularly and this is the cream of the crop. The only improvements that would be possible far better communication from Property Mgt., and getting the heating and cooling situation figured out. My family and I stayed at this house in early November and it was so hot in the house even with all of the individual room heaters turned off that we had to have the windows in the front door open during our entire stay. Moving forward a couple of weeks, we stayed here for the week of Thanksgiving, and the house was much cooler as the temperatures outside dropped, and even with the assistance of space heaters, it was generally chili the entire time. The temperature in the house seems to be one extreme or the other. The fireplace ran out of propane just before Thanksgiving day, so the last four days of our trip we had no functioning fireplace and actually the fireplace was what was keeping us comfortable and without it we were very chilly. Having stayed at a number of Verbo properties, I have to say I’m always impressed with access to a host. I have really gotten spoiled with great hosts at VRBO properties, but I must say, during my first day, I reached out to the VRBO host several times, and never received a response. During the second trip, I did not get a response from the VRBO host either. Better communication needed. I could see more but not enough character space.
Otter Banks at Mercer Lake was all that we had hoped for our family getaway. This home is amazing, views are incredible, plenty of space for all of us to spread out and the kitchen is well stocked. We even ventured out in the kayaks one not so cold morning even though it was November. Emily was great to work with and when we requested extra towels they were there in a jiffy and plenty of them. My only suggestion would be to add a few cozy throw blankets in the living room to cuddle up with and a few extra blankets in the closest for the beds for those of us who like to sleep in a cooler room.
Both with your welcoming and beautiful home and serene lake and view, Otter Banks provided the peaceful respite as well as perfect separation of space our three generations needed. We brought our canoe and also found the provided kayaks to be a great hit with the 8 yr old twins and adults alike. The boys spent quiet hours fishing off the dock and caught three different species of fish! We all enjoyed the retro video games, board games and book choices in the evening. And as soccer fans, being able to get the Timbers game one evening was a real hit as we all fit on the large curved couch on the upper level. Otter Banks is a home to cherish!
This is the one of the nicest most comfortable VRBO’s I’ve ever stayed in. So much room and expensive amenities. Highly recommend
Perfect place for a family gathering and relaxation.
Beautiful and well stocked home. Weather did not permit to use outdoors but would love to come back in the summer!!!!! Loved it!
Though we encountered a rocky start, having not received the door code upon arrival; then not being able to contact anyone to help, the owner was kind enough to reach out through the Ring doorbell and allow us access into the home. That being said, once inside, the home was everything as listed on the website. Clean, beautiful lake view and comfortably appointed. It was nice to discover there were lake towels on hand and an oblong outdoor dining table, for eating outside, under the garage deck. Also, extra deck chairs for lakeside seating. The kayaks, paddle board and peddle boat were all put to use. This was our first time at Otter Banks. And I'm certain, not our last. It was pure joy.
This is our 4th year at your property, Otter Banks. We have gathered here since 2019 (we took a year and tried something new in 2021…we’ll never do that again!) with 3 families from Portland, Ashland and Sacramento. Our kids have grown up here and bonded over dock time, lake time, and puzzles every year. We can’t thank you enough for hosting us and opening up your home so we can make memories together. New this year: We love the arcade game table! And the downstairs living room table lifts….who knew?! We just learned that this year, and our puzzlers were so happy. The appliances are fantastic—thanks for having a popcorn maker, rice cooker, and utensils. We couldn’t find the guest book this time, but loved having kayaks and SUP’s available for those glassy morning paddles. We have all of that gear, and it’s so relaxing not to have to haul it here! Also appreciated the extra sheets and pillows and blankets. Since we couldn’t find the guest book, we’ll tell you that we saw 3 otters on this trip! :) About half mile up the road on a walk, we saw them in the lake. Thanks again!! We love it here!
Otter banks was such a warm, welcoming, beautiful home! Everything was so clean and well taken care of! The view from the large windows in the front room or top porch was breath taking! I have zero complaints! We will be coming back to this house in the future! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful home to enjoy our stay! ❤️
We had a great getaway and really enjoyed this home. I had asked a couple questions before we came and they were answered in a timely matter but unfortunately was wrong information. The pull out sofa is not in the master bedroom, it is in the upstairs living room and there were way more than 2 kayaks included in the rental! We had brought our own and wish we could’ve had that stress relieved. Overall it was a great stay!
It was a fun and memorable trip the house was beautiful and close to the dunes. Our family had an amazing trip.
We love this property! Our second stay here and the home is laid out well and super comfortable for up to 4 couples. Living space upstairs and down, walls of windows face the lake on both levels. Large kitchen for hosting meals. Super peaceful and serene. We'll be back!
Such a lovely home in a beautiful, quiet location. We look forward to staying again soon!
We have rented this house multiple times over the years, gathering together our family friends from up and down the West Coast. Our group has also gone to Hawaii and Sunriver, but our favorite is this house on Mercer Lake. Having kayaks, paddle boards, air hockey, a dock, a deck, and a beautiful kitchen/living room seating area makes this a perfect place for our 3 families to reconnect each year! Thank you for keeping it awesome through the years!
Very comfortable and plenty to do
