Orleans Ranch Style Home Close to Town

Check in was very easy. Property management was responsive the house is a short drive to the sound and Nauset beach. Village of Orleans was close with lots of shops and restaurants! The property is very quaint and old. A little dirty in some places and could use updates. Some of the plastic chairs on the deck were cracked and the grill had no electronic starter. There were no matches to be found. Would be nice if there were beach chairs/umbrella supplied!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of the rental was fantastic. It was centrally located to all the things we like to do while on the Cape. We were a little underwhelmed by the house itself. The garbage bin was filled to the brim when we arrived and the garbage in the house was 3/4 filled and when we emptied it, there was melted butter and crab meat in the bottom of the pail that we then had to clean. My kids were so excited about the foos ball table only to discover there was no foos ball in sight. We ended up having to buy a toy that looked to have a ball similar to what was needed, just so my kids could enjoy the table. We found puzzle pieces strewn about in the basement and the backgammon game had no pieces. We found some of the game pieces and dice under the couch. The full size bed comforter had stains on it and thankfully there was a king size comforter (clean) we could use. The kitchen was limited in the pots/pans/utensils and we couldn't find a lighter for the grill which was needed because the igniter didn't work. While the location is great, I'm not sure we would recommend this home to future vacationers.

The service I have been receiving for the last 10 years has been exemplary but this year, not so much. She was on the phone when I arrived and looked quite annoyed that I was there. She told me the house would not be available until after 3 (it was 1pm) and that I should re-read my rental agreement. I pay for the 2 Saturdays for arrival and departure and figured I could make the choice if I care if the house is clean upon arrival. I told her I had no where else to go and she said there was nothing she could do about my dilemma. I wouldn't have minded except that she was quite rude about it. I came back at 3:30 and she was giving keys to another renter and was smiling, polite, and telling the person if there was anything she needed, don't hesitate to contact the rental agency. When she saw me, the smile disappeared, she gave me the keys, and then turned her back, dismissing me. I realize the person doesn't make the agency and still plan on using this agency next year for my vacation family reunion and will need at least 4 houses. I have recommended 8 families to your agancy and will continue to do so. I just wanted you to know my experience.

We appreciate the rental price not increasing for this very special house as we save all year for this one week. The recent rental tax inclusion hit us hard and was totally unexpected.

The home is beautifully decorated inside and has lovely art, framed poems and family mementos. The location is extremely convenient. I would give this home 5 stars except that there is an unexpected step down to the back porch (I fell twice). The lower step is the same material as the decking and it is easy to miss. Thanks very much to the home owners for sharing their lovely property with us.
