The Palmer House is a multilevel brick and cypress late period Frank Lloyd Wright house, the plan and design of which is based on the equilateral triangle. The house is sheltered by a long broad hipped roof with deep overhangs. The cantilever extending over the terrace is the most dramatic feature of the house. The open interior is fitted with Wright-designed furniture and built-in cabinetry. The Palmer house exemplifies Wright's open, American organic architecture in which all parts are related to the whole and are linked to the environment in an adaptation of form to nature.

In addition to the main house, there is a tea house located on the 2 acres of woodland surrounding the home. The Tea House includes a small kitchen and a bathroom. The Tea House is seasonal. It is not available as a separate rental and is not available during the winter months. The Tea House is included with the rental of the Palmer House.

During your stay, please enjoy complementary tea and coffee, high thread count sheets, feather and non-feather pillows and organic shampoo and conditioner. We are committed to greening the earth and only use organic cleaning products, hand soaps, dish detergent, and laundry soap. Please be advised that there is no air-conditioning. Because the floors are concrete, the roof blocks direct sun, and the house is surrounded by very large trees, the house stays relatively cool.

Once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a home like this. This home is stunning and meticulously maintained. The location feels remote and secluded and is a 5 minute drive ri many of Ann Arbor’s best restaurants and attractions. Sue and Gary were knowledgeable and friendly hosts and made us feel welcomed and comfortable before and during our stay. I highly recommend watching the Magnolia Network series “The Last Wright” prior to staying here to fully appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship of a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian home.

You are staying at this house for the history, design, and beauty of it. It was even better than we had hoped. The house and grounds are amazing and the experience was incredibly unique. We spent so much time just looking and finding new things. With Ann Arbor right there, we were secluded from it but able to easily pop into town for dining and fun.

Amazing to have the experience to stay at a FLW house and get the full experience beyond just looking at pictures. Highly recommend for anyone who is a fan.

Best birthday gift ever! The Palmer house surpassed all expectations. As a lifelong admirer of FLW a stay enables one to step back in time and experience a simpler lifestyle. Surrounded by original furnishings, no distractions and united with nature as it was meant to be.

Our graduation celebration weekend in Ann Arbor was made even better by our stay at the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Palmer House. The historic house, so unique and meticulously maintained, was comfortable even though it felt like we were in an architectural museum. The grounds with the tea house and many hidden paths were beautiful. Our only complaint and it is a small one, is that the interior lighting could be better – it is very dark at night so more lamps in all the rooms, especially the living area, would make reading or playing any games doable.

The property is gorgeous! The hosts were responsive, helpful and welcoming. Everything was perfect. It was an incredible opportunity and privilege to stay at the historic place. Also, Ann Arbor is very close with places to eat and shop.

Having the opportunity to stay at this Frank Lloyd Wright property was so amazing! The house highlights so many Usonian elements, and we felt transported. The grounds are also beautiful. We enjoyed the tour when we arrived, and we had warm communication with the host the entire time. We will back to enjoy the home in another season!

We are so grateful that Sue & Gary Cox (and their son) are able to make this masterpiece available to experience! It must be a very difficult task to keep it in almost original condition. The Tea House and the paths around the property (it’s on 3 lots) were an added bonus. As a place to stay, you have to be able to make some minor compromises. Finding light switches and how to open some drawers and cabinets can be a challenge. The corridor, bedroom and bathroom entries are narrow. The beds are oddly shaped (truncated parallelograms?). There is internet, but no TV’s. Highly recommended for anyone that wants to experience Frank Lloyd Wright’s genius (and quirks).
