From the moment you see the Rio Grande River from our Great Room you know that your Rio Grande Retreat experience will be very special. Our house is located just 20 minutes south of Taos in the village of Rinconada situated in the heart of historic northern New Mexico, between Taos and Santa Fe, right on the banks of the Rio Grande River. Whether you visit in the spring when thousands of flowers are in bloom, the summer when our orchard is producing a variety of delicious apples, the fall when giant cottonwoods are ablaze with color, or the winter with the opportunity to ski at five different ski areas within an hour's travel time, all four seasons will be memorable.

With over three acres of grounds, your Rio Grande Retreat provides all the privacy you will ever desire. The ample and well-maintained gardens and fruit orchards enhance the natural beauty of the red sandstone vistas to the south and the fertile tree-lined banks of the Rio Grande River to the north.

Welcome to our 3400-square-foot, authentic, New Mexico, territorial-style home! It is ideal for a romantic getaway for two and comfortably accommodates six people in our three plus one bedrooms. Your Rinconada Retreat experience begins in the front courtyard with striking sandstone walls, flagstone walkways, a monumental stonehenge
circle surrounded by rosebushes and a cactus garden. Enjoy the front porch at sunset while relaxing in two antique leather chairs. It is the perfect place for sun-filled conversations or bird watching!

Great Room: The 1,000 square-foot great room with vaulted ceilings will most likely be the focal point of your indoor activities. An oversized leather sofa plus a reclining loveseat face the 55-inch high definition TV. We provide Netflix, Prime Video and Hulu (for news and sports). Another area of the great room features a large, natural gas, kiva fireplace.

Kitchen: Our extra-large kitchen is part of the great room and is fully equipped with Jenn-air gas stove, side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with chilled water and dishwasher. There is a microwave, coffee maker, and toaster oven, as well as fun extras such as a Belgium waffle maker and a fruit juicer. A teak kitchen table and chairs provide for informal dining or playing cards.

Dining Room: The separate dining room has the ambiance of a historic Mexican hacienda with a fabulous nine-foot long mesquite table made from an antique Mexican door and surrounded by six hand-crafted, wood and leather chairs. A rustic sofa table adorned with authentic Mexican retablos and a beautifully laid brick floor with radiant heating complete the historic mood of this distinctive room.

Three Bedrooms: The huge master bedroom has an en suite bathroom, and soothing views of the Rio Grande River. Two of our bedrooms have king-sized beds and one has twin beds. Each room has luxurious linens and southwestern-style furniture and smart Roku-powered TV's that are internet connected.

Bathrooms: There are three bathrooms - two full and one powder room. The master bathroom has two Mexican sinks, extra-tall counters, and a walk-in shower.

Studio: You can use the studio/workshop to create the art or craft projects that New Mexico always inspires.

Hot Tub: Watch the Rio Grande while relaxing in a large, Hot Springs hot tub that sits in the screened-in porch just off the great room.

Extras: Hair dryers, washer/dryer, dishwasher, iron, ironing board, and first-aid kit.

OUTDOOR AMENITIES:

We had an amazing stay at rinconada. The house is beautiful and spacious. Well-appointed kitchen and grill out back made family cooking easy. Our kids loved fishing and swimming in the river. We enjoyed local hikes up the arroyo and on the river foot path. This is an easy and lovely home- staying here feels like a treat!

All the reviews about this B&B are totally accurate. My favorite thing was early morning coffee on the back deck watching the sun come up over the river. In the afternoon we waded out into the shallow part of the river to look for unusual rocks. The location is 30 minutes from Taos and approx. 60 minutes from Santa Fe, Los Alamos, or Georgia O’Keefe‘s Ghost Ranch. If you want to do a Rio Grande float or rapids trip you are within 5 minutes. Numerous wineries are within 10 minutes. And if you want to shop for New Mexico souvenirs you are 10 minutes away from sensory overload at Casa Cristal Pottery (also yard art/decor, glassworks, stamped metal, and much more). Dixon food co-op is a small grocery convenience store. If you need more substantial food supplies or alcohol I suggest shopping at a larger store before you get to the area.

Beautiful property. The yellow leaves were glowing along the river. Arroyo hike & river path were both great. Home is huge - lots of space for our kids to spread out.

Everyone thought the location, the house and the amenities were great. We did hiking, fishing, the fire pit every night and just relaxed by the river. My brother in law got a video of elk in the river and up the side of the mountain. Thank you for a beautiful stay.

Beautiful spot on the Rio Grande. We enjoyed fishing and sitting, and sand playing for hours! Lots of room in house. Taos was close enough for lunch and shopping. A storm had knocked out internet but Chris was quick to get someone out to work on problem. We would love to return some day.

First of all the house is a large four bedroom house that's very clean and well maintained. It's decorated in a southwestern style that makes it very appealing and comfortable. The Rio Grande river is just steps out the backdoor. This is our second stay and like last year, we participate in a lot of outdoor activities; hiking, horseback riding, rock hounding, etc. Also, the house is isolated and very quiet with very good restaurants not too far away.

The host and manager have made this property the perfect place for a stay on the river. They have thought of everything and the house is in perfect condition , well designed, and decorated. Going to sleep with the sound of the rushing river! Wow! I even recorded it so I could listen every night at home!! Barely got my luggage un packed and I am ready to return.

The house was perfect just like the pictures. The river was an extra bonus my niece enjoyed fishing and us adults enjoyed just relaxing and listening to the water. Taos is just 30 minutes up the mountain and Espanola about 30 minutes in the opposite direction. We had a blast and look forward to staying here again.
