Stayed Mar 13, 2026What’s there to say we never got to stay there we returned back home, the places desperate need of repairs the place is unsafe it smelled like mildew anyone with allergy or any condition will have problems its a place to be . There’s a hole in the kitchen floor with a soft spot, carpeting, old and buckled up and safe possible trip and fall situation, the deck needs of maintenance as far as replace wood and paint. cleanness needs plenty of . Bathroom needs work ! Outside steps into the house need to be repair. There was garbage around the property , exterior of the home had algae growth ! We called the host who was rude and disrespectful when we asked for refund after explaining the conditions, he said no way and hung up the phone . Not a pleasant situation I will not recommend this property to no one. This property should be taken down on Vrbo .

Stayed Dec 31, 2025Leonard, our host, was quick to respond to any of our questions/concerns. The property itself is a bit small, well maintained, clean, and cozy. My family along with 2 doggies had a great time in the winter as well. The surrounding area is beautiful and had a good time exploring nearby Honesdale!

Stayed Dec 27, 2025Read hosts pre-provided instructions and did map research, so no issue finding house in dark. Kitchen and appliances worked great. Made family meals utilizing brand-new oven. Brought pans but filled in with what house provided; Heat worked great. Freezing outside and house was always a good temp; Plenty of hot water for showers, washing, laundry; Washer and dryer units worked perfectly. Mud room was clutch keeping wet gear out of living area; Allows Pets! Yes, furniture is aging but less concern about them cuddling than with new furniture; Grounds were beautiful. Took pets for walk (on long lead) and hound dog was overjoyed; Some considerations - House does have water damage / moldy smell. It’s an older structure that goes through winter weather extremes; Spots around the house need repair from water damage - bathroom ceiling, kitchen floor; Cellar steps are only covered by a baby gate and not door. Factor for young children or pets as it wasn’t safe for them to be in mud room unsupervised. Otherwise, just regular Pennsylvania dusty cellar; Very odd, but most windows not covered. This was a major point of unease during stay, especially with teen daughters; Host responded to other reviews stating cleaning and sanitization is done after each stay, and that may be the case, but isn’t level of hotel or high-priced rental. The winter rate was affordable, so you get what you pay for. We regularly tent camp so we’re a ‘make do’ kind of family. Overall house was good home base for u

Stayed Oct 27, 2025The house was not clean. The kitchen floor had soft spots that felt like at any moment you could fall through the floor. The listing was deceiving, it states that it is 50 acres but what it doesn’t tell you is that the house is 20 feet from a busy road. We brought our two dogs (beagles) with us thinking they would have plenty of room to run and play but we couldn’t even let them go outside without being on a leash due to the road being right outside of the house! The pictures of the house are obviously from years ago. The outside of the house is very dirty and covered with mold and mildew. The non stick pans that were supplied were scratched up to the point of being useless. It is extremely unhealthy to use teflon pans that are scratched and these were so bad that the Teflon was flaking off the pans. It was an extremely disgusting and disappointing experience overall. I would definitely not recommend this house.

Stayed Oct 24, 2025We wanted to “get away” and this place was perfect…plenty of room, lots of privacy, dog-friendly (of course we brought our pug, Rosie!), and beautiful views! We enjoyed a campfire each night in the stunning outside space. Our host, Leonard, was helpful and responded immediately to any questions we had. A great experience!

Stayed Oct 10, 2025Second stay here. Leonard is a very good guy. He's available to you at a moment notice. If something is wrong he is very apologetic and trys to fix the situation. But at the same time leaves you alone to enjoy your stay. And there's some really neat stores in town. Plus the wildlife is right there for you to see. And the scenery is awesome.

Stayed Aug 28, 2025We had an excellent stay at this property in Honesdale with our family of four and our dog. The grounds were beautiful and spacious, perfect for morning walks and relaxing evenings on the deck overlooking the water. The home was clean and well-equipped for a comfortable stay. If you're planning to cook or bake, consider bringing some disposable foil cookware—easy to grab from a nearby grocery store.Leonard, the host, was incredibly responsive and helpful, with clear directions and great local tips. The location was ideal—close to hiking trails, the town of Honesdale, and other charming nearby spots. The property exceeded our expectations, and we’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Stayed Aug 9, 2025This place is dirty, dirty, dirty. The deck ripped my socks as soon as I walked on it. Terrible deck. The back side of the house is infested with yellow jackets and wasp nests my dog got stung and wasn’t himself the rest of the trip. The pond is gross. No swimming hole. The fishing wasn’t very good as listed in the reviews. The oven didn’t work, the fridge was leaking making the floor soft around it. Place smells of mold and there is mold on some of the interior walls.the kitchen floor is scary to walk on certain spots it flexes and has a big cut in it. Had one roll of toilet paper in the place, one trash bag, the oven didn’t work so we tried the grill which the propane was empty, the hose on the house was off and the owner lied to me the first day and said it should be on but the next day he told me the plumber didn’t turn it back on from the winter. Wanted to wash out the kayaks.ITS JULY!! There was a huge pile of trash on the front porch that wasn’t removed till I called and complained about it. Leonard is not good with communication and kinda not friendly like it seemed. It’s like we were bothering him and when he did show up he didn’t announce himself and just started spraying the deck area with a can of bee spray. When I told him about the yellow jackets and the wasps, he simply said “well that’s Mother Nature”. We couldn’t enjoy the deck during daylight.no curtains on any of the windows so the wife didn’t feel comfortable. Too much money DON’T BOTHER!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!

Stayed Jun 28, 2025We found this house after the owner of another place cancelled on us. They had sold their rental. Leonard answered our request right away. And let me tell you he is the most down to earth person you will come across. He answered all our questions. Gave us directions on how to get there because gps will and did put us in the wrong place. The house could use a few updates but it is exactly what he said it is. Very quiet and the fishing is excellent. The sounds of the frogs and the sight of deer was so nice. We will definitely be back. Thank you Leonard.

Stayed Apr 25, 2025My sons and I have been traveling to this area for Trout Fishing for 5 or 6 years. We have been renting from Leonard for most of this time. Property is in great location & condition, well maintained and stocked with most necessities. We enjoy fishing in the pond on the property when not visiting the local streams for trout. Had to make last minute change to our rental dates and Leonard went out of his way to accommodate our request. Already planning to return again next year.

Stayed Feb 14, 2025I knew it wasn't going to be perfect from reviews but I was hopeful those people were overexaggerating - however, they were not!First, the location is not where it says it is. It says 5 minutes from the town but it's more like 15 which is important when the main reason you're going there is to be close to town. Also - the directions the host provides are not helpful - just give the real address instead of telling us to pass certain houses and places (especially in the dark).Second, and most importantly, the place is really bare minimum - it's like an afterthought as in it's a bit run down with mold on the outside, bugs in the lights, garbage around the property, dirty fridge, old towels, super awkward bathroom that is hard to move in, old stained, sunken-in couches, rusty water, etc. For what it is, it should be super cheap, not comparable to other well cared for places that are super clean, provide coffee, check on you to make sure you have everything you need, etc.It snowed before we got there and while the road/driveway was barely plowed, it was plowed - however after it stormed again, the owner did not come and plow again. Thank god we had AWD vehicles. The salt provided was unusable as it was hard as a rock. Basement should be closed off - creepy and dirty.Would not stay again.

Stayed Aug 30, 2024Pulled up to house and saw the outside was dirty and stained green. Noticed the grass wasn't cut and the steps were rotten. Opened the door to the smell of mold and mildew. Fridge had old packages of chicken in freezer. Not toilet paper or wash cloths. Deck was in rough shape and gate couldn't be hinged shut due to lack of maintaining it. Called vrbo as we read other reviews about his unprofessional behavior with others. We stayed overnight and packed up and left the following morning as the mold and smell were terrible and was effecting my breathing. Called host to let him know we left and he immediately was yelling at me for calling vrbo. Paid over 800$ to stay one night. This place is definitely nothing like you see in the pictures. Those must be at least 5 years or older. Went into basement and found mold in the ceiling joists and places where the floor was removed due to this problem. Took about 50 pictures and will be asking for a full refund!!
