Lake Panasoffkee, Florida
A small cottage feel with lots of trees. A fun place for a vacation, 1 bed 1 bath, futon for an extra bed, a fake grass play area for kids or a hang out area for adults, have fun nights at the camp fire, go on a nice day out on the lake (boat not provided). If it's not a good night for the camp fire then play a varity of board games. The neighbors are very friendly and fun to talk to, supervise small children when out in the backyard there is water access there.not much phone service please check them Tmobile does not seem to have good signal.
I enjoyed my stay. I ended up checking out earlier just because I didn’t need it as long as anticipated. Very quiet neighborhood. It was so peaceful to go sit in the back by the canal and watch the fish. I would definitely stay again and have recommended this place to friends and family if they come to visit!
I would never have written a review at all if the Owner didn't rip me off. First, I will state that the place is run down NOT rustic. When I arrived, the counter and floor were dirty. Decor and furnishings are a joke (seriously!), the 3 legged toaster oven was full of crumbs, no stove or oven, hotplate did not work, portable dishwasher that can't be hooked up, no towels, no cable tv...only internet, could not run the central air because it stunk like cockroach s**t (I did the storage auctions for almost 30 years so I know the smell), heat stopped working, found a broken fake fingernail under the bed (not mine) after the place was supposed to have been cleaned as well as a dental flosser (not mine) under the foosball table in the bedroom. I was waiting for my rental to come out of probate so I ended up having to stay for almost 6 months. It was the only thing affordable for where I needed to be. After initial payment for the month, I knew I would have to stay for a while so I attempted to increase my stay for one month using the VRBO APP. For some reason I could not do it that way so I called VRBO and was told that The Owner has it setup that way so I have to ask him for an invoice. At that time, I was advised by VRBO that the only fees I would be charged would be $34/nt plus tax. When I was sent the invoice, I knew it was too much but I did not want to rock the boat because I needed this place. For May, The Owner upped the charges even more. Knowing that I did not need to stay the any longer, I confronted him. He claimed it was for cleaning at first. Well, there was one cleaning and I already paid for that, originally. Then he said insurance and I told him I cancelled the insurance the first month. He refused to give me a breakdown of charges or provide an invoice for what I paid for. All total The Owner overcharged me by $678 total. He never contacted me after I left to try to make things right. I've given him ample time to do so.
We, husband and wife, stayed for the entire month of November. We had beautiful weather. We played tennis at the nearby rec center. We could not send or receive calls, texts or share photos over our T-mobile cell phones in this area. However, we had work-arounds, one being communicating through the free Kakao Talk app, or sitting in our car with the engine on, or making calls while Walmart shopping. The neighbors, all friendly and helpful, use Verizon without any issue. This is why we gave it 4 stars. We loved paddling the canoe behind the rustic house in the crystal clear canal teeming with fish and birds. We loved the fire pit which we stoked weekly, the quiet fridge, quiet a/c, quiet community, and the comfy bed. It's rural, so we explored, walked the countryside discovering interesting things, creatures and people. Netflix was not included, so we added it ourselves through the smart tv, and also about 30 DVDs were provided.
