With steps leading directly to the beach - what more could you ask for You would be renting the west side. The views from this house are incredible no matter which direction you look. Sitting on the highest point of land in Emerald Isle, Cloud Nine is appropriately named, sitting high atop the dunes. The sun rises to the east and sets in the west, over the ocean, making this location one of the only places on the entire east coast that faces due south.

The house offers a huge composite deck with PVC railings and a covered sitting area for shade. Stairs offer a short walk to get your feet in the sand. On the main living floor an open floor plan offers a comfortable living room to relax and rejuvenate for another exciting beach day. A large kitchen off of the living room on the main floor is loaded with all of your cooking necessities. On the Bogue Sound side of the main floor, a separate room is tucked away for extra sleeping space. A full bath and washer/dryer is on the sound side, off of the kitchen.

The upstairs is all about sleeping space! After a day on the beach or out visiting the plethora of local attractions, there is nothing like a good night's rest. Cloud Nine offers comfortable sleeping for our guests as we have furnished the house for as we will one day live there ourselves. The master bedroom sits off the ocean side and offers a king bed and a large deck with a view that makes you speechless. The master bedroom offers the largest bathroom with windows that show the ocean with every turn.

The largest room on the sound side offers a private deck with a view of the ocean and the sound, a queen bed with a twin. The sound side back bedroom offers a full bed, twin bed and plenty of closet space with a great view of Bogue Sound. The middle room at the top of the stairs offers a bunkbed with two twins and closet.

Built in 1995 and remodeled in 2012, the house is very well constructed and maintained. Cloud Nine sits near mile marker 15, mid-way mark on the 29 mile island. This proximity allows guests to travel east to discover the local flavor of nearby Atlantic Beach, including a side trip to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, only 8 miles away. Continue on east and follow Route 58 to the end of the road which is home to historic Fort Macon State Park. From Atlantic Beach, a trip across the causeway to Morehead City offers nightlife, sound side dining and local shopping with historic Beaufort only a few miles further east. Traveling west from the house brings you into the town of Emerald Isle in just 4 miles. Adventurous guests can walk to the Bogue Sound pier by beach in about two hours. I recommend walking one way and calling back for a ride and insisting on being taken out to a wonderful local restaurant for lunch since you earned that!! Crossing the bridge at the west end of Emerald Isle is one of the most breathtaking scenes on the island. This short drive takes you to Cedar Point, home of Dudley Marina and the best place for FRESH OFF THE BOAT seafood at Phillips Seafood Market - where the locals go for fresh fish. Drive across another short bridge and enter into Swansboro, one of our favorite places to go. Wonderful people and wonderful restaurants. The closest mall in Jacksonville is only 30 minutes from Cloud Nine, beyond Swansboro.

Beautiful house. A great family getaway. Lots of stairs to the beach. Uncomfortable full size bed but the others were ok. Linens were not changed and some other things. The owner handled it to our satisfaction but he should fire the laundry/cleaning company

Our family (6 adults and 2 kids) had a good time and Ed was very responsive. The location and view are INCREDIBLE and the price was great for being right on the beach. Cloud Nine also has the advantage that since it is a couple miles away from the busiest parts of Emerald Isle, the beach was never crowded. There were a couple of things that could have been better. First, some of the cooking utensils and baking dishes were kind of dirty when we arrived and needed cleaning before use, which was kind of annoying. The plates and silverware were fine though. Second, the gas grill wasn't usable in our opinion. Grills inevitably get rusty after some use, especially being close to the ocean, so that didn't bother us, but this one had mold growing in it and one leg was completely disconnected so it didn't feel stable enough to use safely. We adapted easily enough but a gas grill had been one of our criteria when selecting a property to rent so the state of the grill was disappointing. If it weren't for those 2 issues, I would have given it a 5 star rating.

Very nice house right on the beach. Close to everything but far enough away that traffic wasn't a problem. Easy check in and check out, everything in the house worked well. Would recommend to anyone

This is a lovely duplex with a great location. The hosts are great and very responsive. We had wi-fi connectivity problems and they worked with us to fix. The provided linens are of a better quality than some we have experienced at rental properties. Overall a lovely location and a great week in Emerald Isle. Only negatives are a bit of wear and tear on the property - an area rug with stains, furniture that was not cleaned well and some elderly plumbing, older mattresses and fixtures.

Property was clean and had a tremendous view. The only problem we had was WiFi and we were there 2.5 days until the situation was fixed. Not a huge deal but something we spent some time on.

We have not yet had the pleasure to stay due to a family emergency that occurred the evening prior to our arrival date. The communication we had with our host regarding how sad we were to be unable to proceed with our stay was great. Their primary concern was well wishes to our emergency and helping us to reschedule our stay to next summer! Ed and Autumn, thank you so much, we look forward to staying next year!

Loved everything about this beach home. We’ve been coming to EI for years and this is by far the best home we’ve stayed in. The king bed in the master is very comfortable, plenty of room in the house to spread out, lots of games and books for the rainy days. The kitchen had everything we needed. Outside, there are multiple spots to shower and rinse sand off. The owner was easily accessible and contacted us to touch base and see how the stay was going. I can’t think of one negative, except the week is over and we have to go. Can’t wait to come back!

We really enjoyed staying at this house on Emerald Isle. Sits up nice and high so you have a great view of the ocean and the stars at night. House was clean and comfortable, owners were easy to reach if needed and great to work with. Would recommend and stay there again for sure. Only recommendation we would make is have more beach chairs available, just be prepared to bring your own or buy some cheap ones. I'm sure they've had some in the past and guests took them or broke them. That's probably the only feedback we would give. Wonderful beach house.

We had a great time. Location is excellent! Cooked and shopped. So fun. Maybe should put some toppers on beds to make more comfortable but other than that it was wonderful! Had everything we needed.

This duplex is very nice and the furniture is more comfortable than other rental properties at which we’ve stayed. The unit is very clean, and spacious, and the kitchen has most equipment you need if you decide to cook - which we did. The dishes are nice - and not plastic! or corelle and there are plenty of them. There are some very pretty decorative touches throughout the house, which added to our enjoyment. The road behind the duplex is great for walking if the tide is in full. All in all, we had an excellent week - the weather even cooperated. The only negatives I would mention are that some of the fixtures are old and showing wear. The showers are quite old, and for older people a little less safe than we would like, and a couple of the kitchen cabinets have peeling laminate. It would be helpful if the keysafe on the door was replaced - since it is hard to open and appears to be pretty old. Oh and the driveway is quite steep - it’s a workout climbing up the driveway if you have walked on Ocean Rd behind the house.

I rented this home almost a year in advance. It was a perfect location & had plenty of room & allowed overnight guests if my family decided to come. Upon arrival I noticed a few issues. For example: the door to the outdoor shower was completely removed & put to the side; there was a large brown water stain in the ceiling of the bunk room; the freezer side of the refrigerator had no shelves & the ice maker didn’t work; the refrigerator was also missing shelves; part of the stove didn’t work. I notified the owners of the issues as a courtesy because I assumed they were unaware. However, their response indicated that they were aware of the issues prior to my arrival. They said they were sending by their “father” to take measurements for repairs. I asked if they could reschedule any measurement appointments until after our departure. The next day a man showed up claiming to be a “co-owner,” (even though VRBO says he is not) & I thought we had a civil conversation & he left. Next thing I know I received notification that our booking was cancelled, & we needed to vacate the property. The owners accused us of breaking house rules. Which was not true. I treat every home I rent w/great care & respect as I know it is someone else’s home. I treated this home the same way. I did not expect a palace & I genuinely was trying to make sure the owners knew about the issues. In return, they kicked us out 3 nights early. The whole situation was devastating.
