Atlantic Beach, North Carolina
Rejuvenate yourself at the premier oceanfront cottage in Atlantic Beach. Your stay at Sea Haven promises to add many wonderful memories to your vacation scrapbook and keep you wanting to come back year after year!
Sea Haven is a spacious 6 bedroom oceanfront beach house that is located in one of the best locations on the island. The house lies in a quiet, relaxing neighborhood, yet is within walking distance of the Atlantic Beach boardwalk to the west and the fishing pier to the east, so there are a wide variety of activities and restaurants nearby. The beach in front of the house is relatively quiet and secluded, and you will often find yourself alone with your thoughts early in the morning. At 3 stories and almost 4000 square feet, this home is one of the largest beach houses in the area, and offers tremendous value. The house can sleep a lot of people, so the cost per person is among the best you'll find, making Sea Haven one of the best values on the beach.
The 1st floor is entirely self-sufficient, with a separate entrance, two bedrooms, a full kitchen, two bathrooms, and washer/dryer. This ground level floor is accessible without climbing stairs through the french doors next to the parking area. This “mother-in-law” suite is great for people who can’t climb stairs or those who just desire a separate getaway away from the traffic and kids on the upper two floors. This floor has a “game room” with a professional grade air hockey table and TV. There are interior stairs between the first and second floors, with lockable doors at the top and bottom of the stairs. The main house is on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and is entered through stairs on the parking side of the house, or via the deck stairs on the ocean side (or via the previously mentioned interior stairs from the 1st floor). The 2nd floor has a foyer, full kitchen, dining area, living room, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a washer/dryer. The 3rd floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, with one of the bedrooms offering a small breakfast table overlooking the ocean.
1st Floor:
Bedroom #1 has a queen bed and a private bathroom.
Bedroom #2 has a full bed and a private bathroom.
There is a den/game room on this level with a TV as well as an extra dining area, an extra full kitchen, and another washer/dryer. This floor has a private entrance from outside, so it can be used as a fully independent apartment.
2nd Floor:
Bedroom #3 has a queen bed, a TV, and adjoins a Jack & Jill style bathroom.
This floor has the kitchen, living room, TV, a DVD player, and deck access. You will also find the main dining area and the main kitchen. Off of the kitchen, you will find a convenient full bathroom and washer dryer.
Bedroom #4 is oceanfront, and has a king bed, a TV, and adjoins a Jack & Jill style bathroom.
3rd Floor:
Bedroom #5 is oceanfront, and has two queen beds, a twin bed, a TV, and adjoins a Jack & Jill style bathroom. Note: this bedroom is actually divided into two bedrooms. You first enter the oceanfront bedroom with one queen bed, then go through a second door to the adjoining bedroom with one queen and a twin. We find that many parents with toddlers love this setup, as the toddler room is right next door where moms can keep a close eye on them.
Bedroom #6 is oceanfront, and has two queen beds, 1 twin bed, a TV, and adjoins a Jack & Jill style bathroom. There is also a small breakfast table overlooking the ocean in this bedroom.
Total bedding includes 1 king, 6 queens, 1 full, and 2 twins.
Bathrooms: On the 1st floor, each bedroom has its own bathroom. The main bathroom on the 2nd floor lies off the foyer. A new LG washer and dryer are located here. The other bathroom on this floor is located between the bedrooms for convenient access (Jack & Jill style, with the bathrooms entered through the bedrooms). The 3rd floor bathroom is also located between the bedrooms.
All floors have independent thermostats and central heat/air Trane units to optimize comfort. Flat screen TV's are installed as well.
The deck is exceptionally large at over 500 square feet, and has an attached outdoor shower shed (ground water temperature). There is also a covered 400 square foot porch with two large picnic tables, which are great for inclement weather or for just getting out of the sun. The view is unmatched...Sea Haven faces due south on an east-west beach, so during certain times of the year, you can enjoy both a sunrise and a sunset from the same location (this is one of the few beach locations in the US where this occurs). From the steps of the deck, the waves at high tide are only about 15 yards away. We have installed a park style grill on the ground level. For safety reasons please only grill on the ground (not on the deck or porch).
Rules: No Smoking. Smoking outside only. Please dispose of your cigarette butts. There will a charge for clean up of cigarette butts and other trash left on the ground.
The chimney is capped to protect the home from rain during hurricanes, so the fireplace is for decoration only and is not to be used. For comfort and to keep sand from blowing onto your bed, please keep windows closed at all times. This also helps prevent salt air corrosion. Windows are to remain closed and locked at all times. Windows found open will result in a $250 service charge. Please help us keep the home nice for the next guest. To keep the home nice for everyone, violations of any house rules or the rental agreement may result in termination of the stay, without refund.
Beach Chairs & Umbrellas: Beach chairs and etc. are not kept at the house anymore, as we had too many left on the beach which disappeared. Taking any house furniture off of the house property, including deck chairs and cushions, is grounds for termination. However, these items are available for rent at nearly rental businesses: https://www.islandessentials.com

Beach Umbrellas: Beach Wheels Bike Rentals, (252) 240-2453, www.beachwheelsbikerentals.com, 9 miles away on 1420 Salter Path Rd, Atlantic Beach, NC 28512. They deliver as well.
Due to the risk of hurricanes, family illness or other factors, renters are highly encouraged to purchase vacation or travel insurance. We cannot make exceptions to our written cancellation policy.
In order to ensure that the home is ready for other guests following your stay, we cannot accommodate wedding, graduation, or spring-break groups (or any other similar "event" or party groups). The house lies in a quiet residential neighborhood, so parties are forbidden. Any party will likely result in a visit from the town police and subsequent eviction. Please be courteous to your neighbors during your stay and you won't have any problems.
If you have any issues that are not resolved satisfactory by contacting the management, please email me. We hope you enjoy your stay!
Garbage Pickup: please put all garbage cans along the road Sunday night for pickup Monday. There is no specific time, so pickup can occur early or late in the day.
Beginning Memorial Day (the last Monday in May), garbage is picked up twice, on Monday and Thursday. Starting Labor Day, garbage pickup is only once a week on Monday.
Garbage cans must be placed along the road in order to be picked up. Please space them about one foot apart because if they are touching each other, the garbage man can’t get his truck jaws around them. If a can is missing, please let us know...it might be "borrowed" by a nearby house guest. The garbage can serial numbers are listed below.
We pay extra for all of these so you don't run out of space.

Pots & Pans: I don’t have an inventory of the items, but the house is pretty well equipped, and we’ve never had anyone call us and ask for additional items. There are pots, pans, regulator coffee maker, toaster, one crock pot, etc. There may be two of each of these items, as we have two kitchens in the house. Some of the items can be viewed in the kitchen photos. There are No Keurig or pod-type coffee makers.
Lifeguards: There is a lifeguard zone run by the town near the circle during certain times of the year. The lifeguard zone is a short walk west down the beach from the house (about 1,100’). See http://atlanticbeach-nc.com/departments/fire-department/lifeguards/.

Shower valve instructions for the main bathroom on 2nd floor (the one with a washer dryer): Gently pull the lower handle toward you to turn the shower on. Then turn the handle to the left or right to adjust the temperature. Please do not force...it comes on very easily if you are using the correct knob.
A very nice house steps away from the ocean close to Fort Macon and the bridge, what could be better? Lots of dolphins swim by and shell hunting is good, especially at low tide. Perfect place for the family.
We had a family of 12 (ages 10-89) and everyone enjoyed their stay. All amenities were there for us and the beach being so close was perfect for all of our different schedules. Owner responsiveness was 10/10. Thanks Rod!
Great location with lots of room.
This is my third booking, which says everything I suppose! The house has two awesome kitchens, which came in handy when myself and a girlfriend both decided to bake different things at the same time, lol! There are even two washers and two dryers. I really love this house. The old cottage charm with all the modern improvements is really the perfect combination. Great location too...I had the beach all to myself most days! Thank you!
We rented this home for Christmas week. The house is a combination of charming and spacious, with separate living areas on the first two floors that provided enough space for people to spread out when they wanted to. There are two kitchen areas which was great for our holiday baking needs. There is a lot to do and see in the area. The one thing to note is that while the house is oceanfront, there is large berm that prevents you from having a direct view of the ocean from the main floor. You can see it from the bedrooms. This was not a major issue and the pictures on the site clearly show this but if you are looking for a view from the deck, this house does not have it. That being said, the beach is easily accessed via a private path and the deck is spacious and private so you are not on display which is nice. I would definitely recommend this house for large groups.
Had a bunch of guys out for a long weekend fishing trip and this house was centrally located near a normal fishing spots. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and nice to be right on the beach to surf fish as well
Our group had 7 guests total, the property sleeps 16 so the 4 teenagers had lots of bed options. We enjoyed the ocean air from both the covered porch and beautiful large deck. The seating options in the main living room and eating area were perfect. We had a great time and accomplished the goal of having some relaxation time at the beach! Thank you for having such a great property!
Thank you for sharing your home. What started off as a week of work at the beach prior to mom's 80th Birthday Weekend. We normally stay at mom as they do have a large house. So much preparing and with aging parents, your home was perfect as the grands came down to share in the weekend. It allowed us to keep the traffic down at my parents home. We were 5 minutes away from my parent's home. Thank you again for sharing your home. The view from the deck of the beach was awesome.
As others have pointed out, the house really is something special. I love that the owners have been careful to preserve that traditional beach charm while providing all the modern amenities like glass showers, rain drop shower heads, new stainless appliances, high speed wifi, modern lighting, etc. The kids loved staying in the big room on the 3rd floor, and they played games on the table over looking the ocean during the evenings. We loved all the bedrooms...my poor wife has had trouble sleeping lately, so I was able to sleep in an adjoining bedroom so I wouldn't disturb her and she could get some better rest (by the way, there really are 7 total bedrooms, not 6). The location is great...house is in a very quiet area yet close to good restaurants and shopping. Most mornings we were entirely alone on the beach, which was a pleasant surprise. We will definitely be staying again very soon. Thank you for the lovely stay!
An absolutely beautiful home in a wonderful location. We rebooked a 2nd time because we had no much fun. Most mornings, we had the whole beach to ourselves. Owner was in touch and helped us several times answering questions. Will be booking again! Mom and dad stayed in the first floor and loved their private suite on that floor. This is our go to beach house from now on. Thank you!
